Processor implemented systems and methods for measuring cognitive abilities
A computer-implemented cognitive assessment tool is provided for assessing cognitive ability of an individual while multi-tasking. In one embodiment, a computer processing system on which the tool is implemented may receive form the individual first responses to a first task and second responses to a second task, where the first task and the second task are presented to the individual simultaneously. The system may determine that the first task and the second task are performed by the individual based on the first responses and the second responses, and compute a cognitive measure using one or both of the first responses and the second responses. Further, computing the cognitive measure may be based on performance measures of one or both of the first responses and the second responses. Based on the cognitive measure, the system may output a cognitive assessment to the individual.
Ophthalmic machine for acquiring fluorescence images of the retina and related method of use
An ophthalmic machine is provided for obtaining and diagnosing fluorescence images of the retina. An excitation light having first wavelengths (e.g., between 430 nm and 490 nm) is scanned onto the retina. Light emitted by the retina, when illuminated thereby, is filtered to block light of the first wavelengths and to pass light of second (higher) wavelengths. A second filter selects a component of the passed light having second (e.g., green) wavelengths, and a third filter selects a component of the passed light having third (e.g., red) wavelengths. First and second detection means receive light transmitted by the first and second filters, respectively, and provide detection signals indicative thereof. The detection signals are processed to provide one or more images of the retina, said images of the retina comprising at least a color fluorescence image of the retina.
INSTRUMENTED TRAIL MAKING TASK (ITMT)
An instrumented trail-making task (iTMT) platform includes a wearable sensor and interactive interface technology configured to identify cognitive-cognitive impairment in individuals such as older adults. The iTMT platform may be programmed with neuropsychological tests for assessing individuals. The iTMT may provide information on visual search, scanning, speed of processing, mental flexibility, and/or executive functions as well as physical biomarkers of motor performance including slowness, weakness, exclusion, and/or motor planning error. Results of tests administered by the iTMT system may be reported to a patient or caregiver and used in identifying cognitive-motor impairment among individuals suffering from cognitive impairment, dementia, and/or those with frailty status, and/or cognitive frailty, and/or high risk of falling, and/or high likelihood of decline in cognitive-motor over time.
System And Method For Detecting Tau Protein In Ocular Tissue
A system and method for detecting in an eye, in particular the retina, of a mammal, tau protein, such as neurofibrillary tangles (NFT). The system and method can use fluorescence imaging in the visible or near-infrared spectral region, for example as a non-invasive method for in vivo imaging of tau protein in ocular tissue. In preferred embodiments, in vivo imaging of tau protein in ocular tissue involves tau-binding compounds such as FDDNP, T807 and T808.

The present system can measure eye gaze position and detect, in near real-time, smooth eye movements that are driven by a moving stimulus. Smooth movements that match the velocity of a moving stimulus provide evidence that the subject can see the moving stimulus. The present system can give real-time feedback to the user, for example in the form of music, contingent on the ability of the user to perform smooth velocity-matched eye movements. The present system can measure visual impairment and train visual ability both for rehabilitation and development purposes.
Diagnosis of Dementia by Vascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging
A method of diagnosing a likelihood of onset or progression of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) in a subject is provided. The method requires determining vascularization changes in different regions of the brain on the basis of a quantitative cerebral blood volume (qCBV) map of the subject's brain. The qCBV is obtained from one or more quantitative ultrashort time-to-echo contrast-enhanced (QUTE-CE) MRI images of the brain. A method of treating a subject for ADRD is provided. Diagnostic markers for onset and progression of Alzheimer's disease are also provided.
