A smart phone includes photoelectric pulse wave sensing units that obtain photoelectric pulse wave signals from hands holding the smart phone, a touch screen on which a plurality of operation switches that accept operations performed by thumbs are displayed, and a switch arrangement changing unit that changes the arrangement of the displayed plurality of operation switches. The switch arrangement changing unit, when photoelectric pulse wave signals are obtained by the photoelectric pulse wave sensing units, changes the arrangement of the operation switches displayed on the touch screen in such a manner that the operation switches are arranged along a circular arc of a virtual circle whose center is located at a carpometacarpal joint of the thumb of a right hand performing operations and whose radius is the distance from the carpometacarpal joint to the tip of the thumb.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR FORECASTING SEIZURES

A method of estimating the probability of a seizure in a subject, the method comprising: receiving historical data associated with epileptic events experienced by the subject over a first time period, the historical data comprising physiological data associated with each epileptic event and a time at which each epileptic event occurred; generating a temporal probability model of future epileptic events based on the time of each of the epileptic events, the temporal probability model representing a probability of a future seizure occurrence in each of a plurality of time windows; generating a probabilistic model based on the physiological data associated with each epileptic event; weighting the probabilistic model based on the temporal probability model to generate a weighted probabilistic model of future seizure activity; and outputting an estimate of seizure probability in the subject using the weighted probabilistic model.

DEVICE FOR MEASURING WATER CONTENT
20220034836 · 2022-02-03 ·

Embodiments concern a high-precision, measurement device operative to measure the water content in media and/or water transport rate by media with high precision and with high dynamic range concerning the flow rate value. Based on a molecular transducer principle, captured water reacts with a reactant characterized by its ability to generate gas as a reaction product. By using an electro-chemical transducing element, an electric signal is generated in accordance with a stoichiometric volume of gas produced and water transferred, which is related to the flow rate of the circulating aqueous solution.

Devices and Related Methods for Epidermal Characterization of Biofluids

Skin-mounted or epidermal devices and methods for monitoring biofluids are disclosed. The devices comprise a functional substrate that is mechanically and/or thermally matched to skin to provide durable adhesion for long-term wear. The functional substrates allow for the microfluidic transport of biofluids from the skin to one or more sensors that measure and/or detect biological parameters, such as rate of biofluid production, biofluid volume, and biomarker concentration. Sensors within the devices may be mechanical, electrical or chemical, with colorimetric indicators being observable by the naked eye or with a portable electronic device (e.g., a smartphone). By monitoring changes in an individual's health state over time, the disclosed devices may provide early indications of abnormal conditions.

Controller-Based Apparatus and Method for Diagnosis and Treatment of Acquired Brain Injury and Dysfunction
20170231515 · 2017-08-17 ·

A controller-based apparatus for diagnosis and treatment of a subject with acquired brain injury and dysfunction. Various embodiments of the invention described herein recognize that different body postures affect the autonomic nervous system differently, and therefore various external stimuli may have different therapeutic efficacies when a patient or subject is in each body posture. Postures, such as walking, sitting, standing, prone and supine, have different effects on the autonomic nervous system, and therefore some stimuli have different physiological efficacies while a patient or subject is in a given body posture. Disclosed embodiments of the present invention leverage this relationship to provide a controller-based apparatus that determines a combination of posture and stimulus that has optimal therapeutic effect, while minimizing health practitioner involvement. The controller based apparatus provides a treatment that stimulates the nervous system through a combination of noninvasive therapies that stimulate brain cells to increase their efficiency—this promotes the formation of pathways that help transfer information throughout the brain in such a way that in the end, the affected area of the brain and overall brain function are improved without medication or surgery.
