SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR THE SEGMENTATION OF MULTI-MODAL IMAGE DATA

There is provided a computer implemented method of automatic segmentation of three dimensional (3D) anatomical region of interest(s) (ROI) that includes predefined anatomical structure(s) of a target individual, comprising: receiving 3D images of a target individual, each including the predefined anatomical structure(s), each 3D image is based on a different respective imaging modality. In one implementation, each respective 3D image is inputted into a respective processing component of a multi-modal neural network, wherein each processing component independently computes a respective intermediate, and the intermediate outputs are inputted into a common last convolutional layer(s) for computing the indication of segmented 3D ROI(s). In another implementation, each respective 3D image is inputted into a respective encoding-contracting component a multi-modal neural network, wherein each encoding-contracting component independently computes a respective intermediate output. The intermediate outputs are inputted into a single common decoding-expanding component for computing the indication of segmented 3D ROI(s).

ISOTROPIC GENERALIZED DIFFUSION TENSOR MRI

Isotropic generalized diffusion tensor imaging methods and apparatus are configured to obtain signal attenuations using selected sets of applied magnetic field gradient directions whose averages produce mean apparent diffusion constants (mADCs) over a wide range of b-values, associated with higher order diffusion tensors (HOT). These sets are selected based on analytical descriptions of isotropic HOTs and the associated averaged signal attenuations are combined to produce mADCs, or probability density functions of intravoxel mADC distributions. Estimates of biologically-specific rotation-invariant parameters for quantifying tissue water mobilities or other tissue characteristics can be obtained such as Traces of HOTs associated with diffusion and mean t-kurtosis.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE SPATIAL PROBABILITY OF CANCER WITHIN THE PROSTATE

A probability map of prostate tumor location is generated and displayed in response to receiving anatomic diagnostic medical imaging, such as from magnetic resonance (MR) scanning. A registration process is performed on the images in relation to a model built of prostate anatomy across different subjects in an enhanced prostate template. A probability map is created of tumor locations followed by transforming the imaging to incorporate the probability map and output a resultant image.

Geometric biopsy plan optimization

The present invention is directed to a method for calculating tumor detection probability of a biopsy plan and for generating a 3D biopsy plan that maximizes tumor detection probability. A capsule shaped volume is modeled to represent the volume that a biopsy core may sample. An optimization method is used to generate a 3D biopsy plan that maximizes probability of tumor detection for predefined biopsy core numbers and length. Risk of detecting insignificant tumors, also determined by size, and probability of a false negative result is automatically calculated. The present invention also includes a method to determine number and length of biopsy cores required for individual patients determined by the balance of the insignificant/significant probability of detection, prostate size and shape, based upon the previously explained 3D biopsy plan generation method.

A system for controlled neuromodulation procedures is disclosed. A system for controlled micro ablation procedures is disclosed. Systems and methods for imaging, monitoring, stimulating, and/or ablating neurological structures coupled to one or more organs of the lower urinary tract (LUT) are disclosed. Such processes may be used to alter the hormonal secretions from one or more organs, to modulate the growth of an organ, alter the growth rate or rate of perineural invasion of a tumor, or the like. In particular such processes may be used to slow, halt and/or reverse the growth of a prostate gland or a prostate tumor.

AUTOMATED CO-REGISTRATION OF PROSTATE MRI DATA

Medical imaging analysis systems are configured to perform automatic image registration algorithms that perform three-dimensional (3D), affine, and/or intensity-based co-registration of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data, such as multiparametric MRI (mpMRT) data, using mutual information (MI) as a similarity metric. An apparatus comprises a computer-readable storage medium storing a plurality of imaging series of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data for imaged tissue of a patient; and a processor coupled to the computer-readable storage medium. The processor is configured to receive the imaging series of MRI data; identify a volume of interest (VOI) of each image of the imaging series of MRI data; compute registration parameters for the VOIs through the maximization of mutual information of the corrected VOIs; and register the VOIs using the computed registration parameters.
