Diagnosis and treatment of tissue
A system and method for testing tissue in a patient. An optical probe illuminating the tissue generates reflected light corresponding to the illuminated tissue. A spectrometer and a tissue classification system provide a diagnostic classification. A treatment device delivers treatment to the tissue while the probe is in position to sense the reflected light.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR THE MOBILE ANALYSIS OF EXCREMENT IN A TOILET
The invention relates to a device for determining physiological data through analysis of human excrement in a toilet (T) by means of at least one indicator and/or sensor, and to a method for determining physiological data by analysis of human excrement in a toilet (T) by measurement of urine and/or stool values. The problem addressed by the invention is that of achieving maximally universal use of the device and thus broad dissemination, including in the case of a wide variety of toilet designs, with reasonable design effort and manageable costs. This problem is solved by a measurement system, in which an indicator (11) or sensor can be brought into a measurement position, in which sufficient contact with the urine or stool to be examined occurs, by means of an arm (10) for each measurement, wherein the indicator (11) or sensor is/are designed as (an) independent unit(s), and by a corresponding method in which a plurality of previously determined values are measured and then processed further and forwarded as applicable.
Detection Of Targeted Biological Substances Using Magnetic Relaxation Of Individual Nanoparticles
The present invention can provide a method of determining the presence, location, quantity, or a combination thereof, of a biological substance, comprising: (a) exposing a sample to a plurality of targeted nanoparticles, where each targeted nanoparticle comprises a paramagnetic nanoparticle conjugated with one or more targeting agents that preferentially bind with the biological substance, under conditions that facilitate binding of the targeting agent to at least one of the one or more biological substances; (b) subjecting the sample to a magnetic field of sufficient strength to induce magnetization of the nanoparticles; (c) measuring a magnetic field of the sample after decreasing the magnetic field applied in step b below a threshold; (d) determining the presence, location, quantity, or a combination thereof, of the one or more biologic substances from the magnetic field measured in step (c).
Methods, Systems, and Devices for Imaging Microscopic Tumors
The disclosed apparatus, systems and methods relate to interventional magnetic resonance imaging (iMRI). More specifically, clinical applications of the disclosed include magnetic resonance (MR) guided procedures such as endovascular interventions, percutaneous biopsies or deep brain stimulation
Treatment planning and delivery using temperature uncertainty maps
A method and programmable computer system calculates and displays the regions where the temperature can be reliably measured in a thermal therapy procedure. The clinician or automated control system then can make an informed decision to treat these regions or plan a treatment to avoid them based on the sensitivity of surrounding structures to unintended heating.
GEOMETRIC BIOPSY PLAN OPTIMIZATION
The present invention is directed to a method for calculating tumor detection probability of a biopsy plan and for generating a 3D biopsy plan that maximizes tumor detection probability. A capsule shaped volume is modeled to represent the volume that a biopsy core may sample. An optimization method is used to generate a 3D biopsy plan that maximizes probability of tumor detection for predefined biopsy core numbers and length. Risk of detecting insignificant tumors, also determined by size, and probability of a false negative result is automatically calculated. The present invention also includes a method to determine number and length of biopsy cores required for individual patients determined by the balance of the insignificant/significant probability of detection, prostate size and shape, based upon the previously explained 3D biopsy plan generation method.
Rectal coil for magnetic-resonance tomography
The invention concerns a rectal coil for magnetic resonance tomography, with a coil for transmitting and/or receiving magnetic resonance tomography electromagnetic signals, an inflatable balloon for securing or positioning the coil in the intestine and a shaft by means of which the coil and balloon are connected and which is used to introduce the rectal coil into the rectum, the coil being attached outside the balloon.
Optical proximity sensor based toilet with fill tube proximity level sensing
The present invention is directed to a toilet that includes a slanted fill tube with an optical proximity sensor positioned on or within the inner surface of the fill tube. The optical proximity sensor includes an incoherent light source and a photodiode. The optical proximity sensor as disclosed herein detects small changes in volumes added to a toilet bowl. Consequently, small volumes of excrement that are deposited in the toilet bowl by a user may be detected with greater accuracy. In some embodiments, information about the volume of urine or feces deposited into the toilet bowl is recorded and calculated by a processor. Other sensors, including a toilet bowl water level sensor and a gas sensor may collect data in combination with the optical proximity sensor to provide more complete information about the user's health.
Synthesis and composition of amino acid linking groups conjugated to compounds used for the targeted imaging of tumors
The present disclosure relates to compounds that are useful as near-infrared fluorescence probes, wherein the compounds include i) a ligand that binds to a target receptor protein, ii) a dye molecule, and iii) a linker molecule that comprises an amino acid or derivative thereof. The disclosure further describes methods and compositions for making and using the compounds, methods incorporating the compounds, and kits incorporating the compounds. The disclosure also relates to compositions for incorporating the compounds as used for the targeted imaging of tumors. Conjugation of the amino acid linking groups increase specificity and detection of the compound. Methods and compositions for use thereof in diagnostic imaging are contemplated.
Laser assembly for an optoacoustic probe
A laser assembly is provided that includes a laser resonator that emits a first light having a first pulse width, and a trigger assembly electrically coupled to the laser resonator to actuate the laser resonator. The laser assembly also includes a sensor configured to detect the first light as the light emits from the laser resonator, and one or more processors coupled to the trigger assembly. The one or more processors are configured to obtain a first time delay interval from when the trigger assembly is actuated to when the sensor detects the first light, and actuate the laser resonator to emit a second light having a second pulse width based on the time delay interval determined.
