One variation of a method includes: accessing a skin type of a user; predicting a first set of locations occupied by the user during a first future time interval; based on historical ultraviolet irradiance data and the first future time interval, calculating a first predicted unprotected ultraviolet radiation exposure of the user during the first future time interval; calculating a maximum allowable ultraviolet radiation exposure for periods within the first future time interval based on the skin type of the user; calculating a first minimum sun protection factor predicted to reduce the first predicted unprotected ultraviolet radiation exposure to less than the maximum allowable ultraviolet radiation exposure; selecting a first sunscreen formula characterized by a first sun protection factor greater than the first minimum sun protection factor; and shipping the first volume of the first sunscreen formula to the user prior to the first future time interval.

NON-CONTACT ACOUSTIC RADIATION FORCE BASED (ARF-BASED) GENERATION OF BROAD BANDWIDTH MECHANICAL WAVES USING AIR-COUPLED ULTRASOUND

Methods and systems for measuring one or more properties of a soft material employ air transmitted ultrasound that is reflected from the soft material to generate a mechanical wave in the soft material. A method of measuring one or more properties of a soft material includes transmitting ultrasound through air to an interface boundary between the soft material and air. Force is applied to the soft material by reflecting the ultrasound from the soft material. A mechanical wave is generated in the soft material as a result of the force applied to the soft material. Propagation of the mechanical wave in the soft material is measured with an imaging system. One or more properties of the soft material is determined based on the measured propagation of the mechanical wave in the soft material.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR SKIN GLOSS DETECTION

The present invention relates to a device and method for skin gloss detection. To enable skin gloss detection in a simple and efficient manner, preferably with an available user device, the device comprises an illumination unit (2) for illuminating a skin area at a flashing rate, an imaging unit (3) for acquiring images of the skin area at an imaging rate which is different than said flashing rate, and a processing unit (4) for processing acquired images and detecting the amount of gloss in the skin area from at least one partial image of the skin area while being illuminated by said illumination unit and at least one partial image of the skin area while not being illuminated by said illumination unit.

SKIN ASSESSMENT USING IMAGE FUSION

Apparatuses and methods are disclosed for assessing the texture of skin using images thereof. In exemplary embodiments, a texture map of an area of skin is generated from a combination of a standard white light image, a parallel-polarized image, and a cross-polarized image of the area of skin. The texture map is then flattened to remove the underlying curvature of the skin. A texture roughness metric is then generated based on the flattened texture map. An image of the texture map and the metric can be displayed to provide visual and alphanumeric representations of the texture of skin, thereby facilitating the comparison of baseline and follow-up images of the skin, such as those taken before and after treatment.

TOILET WITH VASCULAR HEALTH REPORTING

A system for providing a report on vascular health of a user is disclosed. The system includes a toilet with a bowl adapted to receive excreta from the user and a processor. The toilet includes a seat with weight and PPG sensors. BCG data is derived from the weight sensor data. PPG data is derived from the PPG sensor. The processor performs a comparison of the data from the weight sensor and the data from the PPG sensor and preexisting data in a database. The processor then generates a report on the user's vascular health based on the comparison.

TOILET WITH SOFT TISSUE HARDNESS TESTER

The medical toilet includes one or more sensors for measuring hardness of a soft tissue in contact with the sensor. The one or more sensors may be positioned on the toilet seat, toilet lid, or on a foot scale which extends from the base of the medical toilet. The sensors may include durometers, fluid-filled bubbles with pressure sensors on them, or an inflatable tube with pressure sensors on it. The measurements may be transmitted to a controller which may store and analyze the data. Changes in tissue hardness over time may be tracked and reported. The sensors may identify changes in the hardness of skin, adipose tissue, and muscle. These measurements may be useful to identify changes in skin thickness, body fat, muscle tone, tumors and other masses.

DEVICE FOR STIMULATING SKIN REGENERATION
20200282212 · 2020-09-10 ·

A device and a method for stimulating skin regeneration is described which allows exploiting the combined action of the surface vasculature (given by the action of the vacuum) and of the cellular regeneration (given by the electromagnetic field generated by a capacitive system) combined with the skin electrostimulation applied, in this case, so as to amplify the biological effect of the electromagnetic field.

PERSONAL CARE DEVICE WITH CAMERA
20200280680 · 2020-09-03 ·

A personal care system having a treatment device for applying a treatment to the skin or hair of a user is provided. The treatment device has a camera for taking an image of the skin. The system may include or be in communication with an application programming interface (API) that can process the image. The system or an associated API can recommend the use of treatment regimens or topical products according to information determined from the digital image of the skin.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR HYPERSPECTRAL IMAGING
20200267336 · 2020-08-20 ·

An apparatus for analyzing a subject including a hyperspectral image module is provided. It is used to identify a suspect region of a subject by using a hyperspectral sensor (for obtaining a hyperspectral image of the subject), a control computer including a processor unit (PU) and a computer readable memory (CRM) (for controlling and is in electronic communication with the sensor), a control software module including instructions stored in the CRM and executed by the PU (for controlling said at least one operating parameter of the sensor), a spectral calibrator module including instructions stored in the CRM and executed by the PU (for applying a wavelength dependent spectral calibration standard constructed for the sensor to a hyperspectral image), and a light source for illuminating the subject. An optional contact probe module is used to collect a signal of the suspect region for medical diagnosis.
