Handheld treatment apparatus with cartridge assembly locking features
An apparatus for treating human skin includes an outer housing including a graspable portion and an applicator head engagement structure. The apparatus includes an image capture device that captures images of the human skin through an opening in the applicator head. A processor analyzes the images of the human skin to identify skin deviations. A cartridge includes a nozzle located in the applicator head. The applicator head includes an outer housing engagement structure that engages the applicator head engagement structure with the cartridge inserted into the outer housing to inhibit removal of the cartridge from the outer housing. A cap engages the applicator head. The cap has a locked configuration connected to the applicator head where the applicator head is removable from the outer housing and an unlocked configuration connected to the applicator head where removal of the applicator head from the outer housing is inhibited.
Measuring system for measuring a surface of an object or skin of a person
A measuring system for measuring an object, the measuring system comprising a capture device comprising a set of illumination elements for illuminating the object and a set of cameras for capturing an image of the object, and a controlling and processing unit. The controlling and processing unit comprises at least a data acquisition functionality which is configured to provide surface data by activating at least a part of the set of illumination elements for illuminating the object with measuring light and capturing at least one image by detecting measuring light reflected at the object by means of at least a part of the set of cameras.
INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY RECORDING MEDIUM
An information processing apparatus includes: an acquisition unit that acquires three-dimensional information on a skin; a detection unit that extracts a pattern from the three-dimensional information and that detects a singular area of the pattern; an extraction unit that extracts a singular area pattern of the singular area; and a generation unit that generates a combined pattern image in which the pattern and the singular area pattern are combined, on the basis of the pattern extracted from the three-dimensional information by the detection unit and the singular area pattern extracted by the extraction unit.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING SKIN CHARACTERISTICS
A skin measuring apparatus measures skin characteristics. The apparatus comprises: a mover attached to a housing to allow the mover to move in a first direction and a second direction relative to the housing; a position sensor attached to the housing for measuring a position of the mover as the mover moves relative the housing between first and second positions; a force sensor for measuring a force applied to the mover; a latch fixed to the mover; a releasable catch attached to the housing, the releasable catch engageable with the latch to prevent movement of the mover in the second direction from the second position until the releasable catch is released. The first direction is opposite the second direction; a first end of the mover is releasably attachable to a skin sample.
Obtaining images for use in determining one or more properties of skin of a subject
An apparatus for obtaining images for use in determining one or more properties of skin of a subject, the apparatus comprising an image sensor unit for generating an image of a skin sample, wherein the skin sample corresponds to an area of skin of the subject within a field of view, FOV, of the image sensor unit when the skin of the subject is spaced a predetermined working distance from the image sensor unit; a first light arrangement comprising one or more light sources for illuminating the skin of the subject; and a second light arrangement comprising one or more light sources for illuminating the skin of the subject. The one or more light sources in the first light arrangement are spaced from the image sensor unit and arranged such that light emitted by the light sources in the first light arrangement that is specularly reflected by a skin sample at the predetermined working distance is incident on the image sensor unit, and the one or more light sources in the second light arrangement are spaced from the image sensor unit and arranged such that light emitted by the light sources in the second light arrangement that is specularly reflected by a skin sample at the predetermined working distance is not incident on the image sensor unit.
Enhancing pigmentation in dermoscopy images
Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for modifying images of skin so as to reduce or enhance the appearance of component pigments, such as melanin and hemoglobin. A diffuse reflectance image of skin, such as a cross-polarized contact dermoscopy image, which conveys information regarding subsurface features of the skin, is processed so as to extract pigment distribution information, which is then used to correct the diffuse reflectance image, such as by reducing the appearance of melanin to allow better visualization of hemoglobin-related structures, such as vasculature. Alternatively, the diffuse reflectance image can be corrected so as to reduce the appearance of hemoglobin to allow better visualization of melanin-related structures.
Method for determining facial muscle responses
A method for quantitatively assessing muscle contraction of a facial muscle in a person and determining the ability of a treatment material to reduce contraction of the facial muscle is disclosed. The method can include applying an external electrical stimulus to facial skin sufficient to contract a facial muscle, measuring the contractile activity of the contracted facial muscle by measuring the compound motor action potential (CMAP) of the contracted facial muscle to obtain a first average measurement of contractile activity of the contracted facial muscle, administering the treatment material by topically applying the treatment material to the facial skin, and repeating steps (a) and (b) to obtain a second average measurement of contractile activity of the contracted facial muscle.
Systems and methods for assessing a physiological property of a biological tissue based on its microwave transmission properties
According to one aspect of the invention, a method for assessing physiological properties of a biological tissue is provided. The method comprising the steps of transmitting from a first coaxial probe, receiving at a second coaxial probe and assessing physiological properties. The transmission from the first probe is a microwave signal. The second coaxial probe receives a microwave signal. The first coaxial probe and the second coaxial probe are arranged in connection with the biological tissue. The physiological properties of the biological tissue between the coaxial probes are assessed based on the microwave signal transmitted and received across the biological tissue. The invention further relates to a system and a coaxial probe useful in performing such a method.
Skin inspection device for identifying abnormalities
A skin inspection device for identifying abnormalities. The device comprises a transparent panel having an inspection area. An array of temperature sensors are provided on the transparent panel to record the temperature of an area of skin of a target. One or more image capture devices are provided for capturing an image of the area of skin of a target located in the inspection area. The captured image and recorded temperature being analysed to identify abnormalities in the area of skin of the target. A processor is operably coupled to the one or more image capture devices and the array of temperature sensors for controlling operations thereof. The processor is operable to generate indicia indicative of the emergence of ulcers and/or other skin abnormalities.
