METHOD FOR MONITORING A RECUMBENT PATIENT TO OBTAIN INFORMATION ON A BODY POSITION OF THE PATIENT
A method for monitoring a recumbent patient to obtain information on a body position of the patient comprises the steps of emitting electromagnetic waves by a sender (11) arranged in a distance from the patient, receiving electromagnetic waves reflected by the patient by a receiver (12, 13, 14) arranged in a distance from the patient, determining a movement activity level from an amplitude and/or phase of the received electromagnetic waves, classifying the activity level into at least one high activity level class and into at least one low activity level class and analyzing the amplitude and/or phase of the received electromagnetic waves relating to an activity level classified in the at least one low activity level class to obtain the information on the body position of the patient.
System for managing patient support apparatuses and bed sore risks
A caregiver assistance system is disclosed for helping caregivers manage the care of existing bed sores and/or reduce the risk of a patient developing bed sores. The system may also help the caregiver to perform rounding tasks and/or to reduce the likelihood of patient falls. The system comprises a server application in communication with the patient's bed and one or more mobile electronic devices (e.g. smart phones). The mobile devices receive individual assessments of a plurality of bed sore risk factors and forward them to the server. The server generates bed sore risk scores from the answers and forward them to an EMR server. The server may also determine one or more risk reduction steps, display them on the mobile electronic device, and/or forward them to the patients' beds for implementation thereon. Additional bed sore information may be captured and sent to the EMR.
METHOD AND APPARATUS OF MONITORING FOOT INFLAMMATION
A method and apparatus for evaluating emergence of an ulcer each uses at least one temperature detection modality to form a first thermogram and a second thermogram of the sole of at least one foot. Each thermogram forms a substantially continuous set of two-dimensional temperature values across the sole of the (at least one) foot. The thermograms have features; namely, the first thermogram has first features and the second thermogram has second features. The method and apparatus thus control a device to apply at least one transformation to the first and second thermograms to align the first features with corresponding second features, and determine, at any thermogram location, if at least one of the thermograms presents one of a plurality of patterns indicative of inflammation. Finally, the method and apparatus each produce output information indicating the result of the determination of whether the thermograms present one of the plurality of patterns.
METHODS OF TREATING DEEP AND EARLY-STAGE PRESSURE INDUCED TISSUE DAMAGE
The present disclosure provides methods for evaluating tissue damage and the use of spatial variation in Sub-Epidermal Moisture (SEM) values to determine damaged tissue for clinical intervention. The present disclosure provides methods of identifying deep and early-stage pressure-induced injuries or ulcers (PI/PU). The present disclosure provides algorithm for computing SEM delta values which inform clinical decision-making for developing intact skin PI/PUs including suspected deep tissue injury (sDTI) and Stage I PI/PUs.
APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING EVALUATION OF BEDSORE STAGES AND TREATMENT RECOMMENDATIONS USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND OPERATION METHOD THEREOF
Provided are a device for managing bedsores and an operating method of the same. The operating method includes acquiring image data of a plurality of existing bedsores, acquiring existing bedsore-related information corresponding to the image data of the plurality of existing bedsores, training a convolutional neural network (CNN) with relationships between the image data of the plurality of existing bedsores and the existing bedsore-related information to acquire a machine learning model, acquiring bedsore image data of a current patient, applying the machine learning model to the bedsore image data of the current patient to determine information on a bedsore or bedsore treatment information of the current patient, and outputting the information on the bedsore or the bedsore treatment information of the current patient.
Method for detecting body parameters
A method for detecting biometric parameters includes the steps of performing a bone graft procedure on at least one vertebra of a spine, providing at least one biometric sensor at the at least one vertebra, the sensor measuring at least one parameter selected from the group consisting of pressure, tension, shear, relative position, and vascular flow in an adjacent, surrounding, and measuring the at least one biometric parameter at the vertebra with the sensor.
AN ELECTRICAL STIMULATION SYSTEM
An electric simulation system for home technical textiles, medical and hygiene technical textiles. The system applies electrical stimulation in order to prevent pressure ulcers with a proactive approach. With the system, in contrast to existing electrical simulation applications, blood pressure is increased at body stable pressure points before the development of pressure ulcers. In the system, a selective mechanism is developed instead of applying a fixed electrical stimulation to the whole body. In the system where electrical stimulation is applied, muscles surrounding blood vessels are stimulated and an effect equivalent to natural movement mechanism of body is provided. Thus blood is put into order and suspension of oxygen and nutrition is prevented, accumulation of waste products in cells is provided and defence mechanism of cells is kept active against invasion of cells by micro-organisms, and thus pressure ulcers are proactively prevented.
System and method for management of diabetic foot care patients
The present arrangement provides a system for managing diabetic foot care patients that include a communication interface for transmitting diagnostic forms to a doctor device and receiving input from the doctor device. A processor manages the transmissions and received input and a database storing the diagnostic forms and the received input, as well as pre-stored risk assessment guidelines. The system is configured to transmit the diagnostic forms to a doctor device for guiding a comprehensive foot exam, and further, to accept doctor input including at least a plurality of foot examination details and a risk pool assessment. The system compares at least a plurality of foot examination details against the pre-stored risk assessment guidelines and confirms or reject the risk pool assessment input by the doctor if the risk pool assessment is or is not congruent with requirements contained in the pre-stored risk assessment guidelines.
Apparatus and methods for determining damaged tissue using sub-epidermal moisture measurements
The present disclosure provides apparatuses and computer readable media for measuring sub-epidermal moisture in patients to determine damaged tissue for clinical intervention. The present disclosure also provides methods for determining damaged tissue.
AUTOMATICALLY IDENTIFYING PRESSURE INJURIES
Various systems, devices, and methods for predicting and identifying root causes of pressure injuries in a clinical environment are described. An example method includes identifying, based on an electronic medical record (EMR) of a patient, that the patient has an injury; receiving, from one or more sensors, sensor data indicating one or more parameters of the patient; determining, based on the sensor data, at least one root cause of the injury; and transmitting, to an external computing device, a report indicating the at least one root cause of the injury.
