Sensor device with a selectively activatable display
A user-wearable sensor device may be configured to be directly or indirectly secured to a user or to an article worn by the user. The user-wearable sensor device may include at least one sensor configured to collect sensor data associated with an orientation of the user, a display unit including at least one LED or other visual indicator, a battery configured to provide power to at least the display unit, and a control system. The control system may be configured to determine the orientation of the user based on sensor data collected by the at least one sensor, maintain the display unit in a deactivated state in the absence of a defined activation input, detect a defined activation input, activate the deactivated display unit in response to detecting the defined activation input, and control the activated display unit based on the determined orientation of the user.
INTELLIGENT PATIENT MONITORING SYSTEM
Embodiments may relate to an intelligent patient monitoring system, which may include a weight support device, a computer, and a display. The weight support device supports a patient and includes a sensor grid layer with a plurality of sensors to measure pressure data. The computer predicts a pressure injury outcome and/or a fall outcome based on the pressure data. The pressure injury outcome includes a prediction of risk of the patient developing a pressure injury. The fall outcome includes a prediction of risk of the patient experiencing a fall. The computer may utilize a machine learning model to determine either or both outcomes. The display presents a notification generated based on the pressure injury outcome or fall outcome. The notification indicates that an adjustment of a positioning of the patient is needed to aid in the prevention of the pressure injury or the fall.
Devices, systems, and methods for preventing, detecting, and treating pressure-induced ischemia, pressure ulcers, and other conditions
A system for monitoring medical conditions including pressure ulcers, pressure-induced ischemia and related medical conditions comprises at least one sensor adapted to detect one or more patient characteristic including at least position, orientation, temperature, acceleration, moisture, resistance, stress, heart rate, respiration rate, and blood oxygenation, a host for processing the data received from the sensors together with historical patient data to develop an assessment of patient condition and suggested course of treatment, including either suspending or adjusting turn schedule based on various types of patient movement. The sensor can include one or more of bi-axial or tri-axial accelerometers, magnetometers and altimeters as well as resistive, inductive, capacitive, magnetic and other sensing devices, depending on whether the sensor is located on the patient or the support surface, and for what purpose. In some embodiments, the sensor can be self-contained in that it can detect orientation and suggest repositioning independent of a host.
Apparatus and methods for determining damaged tissue using sub-epidermal moisture measurements
The present disclosure provides apparatuses and computer readable media for measuring sub-epidermal moisture in patients to determine damaged tissue for clinical intervention. The present disclosure also provides methods for determining damaged tissue.
Strategic Treatment of Pressure Ulcer Using Sub-Epidermal Moisture Values
The present disclosure provides methods of identifying a patient in need of pressure ulcer treatment and treating the patient with clinical intervention selected based on sub-epidermal moisture values. The present disclosure also provides methods of stratifying groups of patients based on pressure ulcer risks and methods of reducing incidence of pressure ulcers in a care facility.
MODULAR SYSTEM FOR MULTI-MODAL IMAGING AND ANALYSIS
A portable, modular handheld imaging system is disclosed. The modular system comprises a first housing portion and a second housing portion. The first housing portion includes at least one excitation light source. A first filter is configured to detect and permit passage of selected optical signals responsive to illumination with the excitation light to a first image sensor. A second filter is configured to detect and permit passage of selected optical signals responsive to illumination of the target surface with white light to a second image sensor. The second housing portion is configured to releasably receive the first housing portion. The second housing portion includes a display and a processor configured to receive the detected fluorescent and white light optical signals and to output a representation of the target surface to the display based on the detected optical signals.
TRACHEOSTOMY SUPPORT SYSTEM
Disclosed are materials, articles, devices, and methods for manufacture thereof that pertain to a tracheostomy support system. The tracheostomy support system can eliminate torque on the tracheostomy tube and offload pressure caused by the tracheostomy tube on the neck skin of a patient. Additionally, the tracheostomy support system can indicate when pressure or moisture on the skin is at an unsafe level that may predispose the patient to neck skin ulceration, breakdown, or infection. The tracheostomy support system can be automatically adjusted through a closed-loop feedback system or can be manually adjusted.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PRESSURE RELATED SKIN INJURY RISK ASSESSMENT AND TREATMENT
A system or method for pressure related skin injury risk assessment and treatment including measuring extrinsic and intrinsic pressure on skin of the patient through assigned ratings responsive to the pressure on skin measurement, measuring oxygenation of the patient and assigning a rating responsive to the oxygenation measurement, measuring perfusion of the patient and assigning a rating responsive to the perfusion measurement, summing the pressure on skin, oxygenation and perfusion ratings to obtain a POP Box score, determining a risk of pressure related skin injury for the patient in response to the POP Box score, and determining or selecting a recommended treatment from among a plurality of recommended treatments for the patient in response to the determined risk of pressure related skin injury.
IPSILATERAL ULCER AND PRE-ULCER DETECTION METHOD AND APPARATUS
A system has a body with a base having a top surface with a receiving region to receive the bottom of a single foot. Among other things, the base may be in the form of an open or closed platform with a plurality of temperature sensors in communication with the top surface of the receiving region. The plurality of temperature sensors is within the receiving region and configured to activate after receipt of a stimulus applied to one or both the platform and the plurality of temperature sensors. A comparator is configured to form a temperature range as a function of the temperature value distribution and compare a percentage of the range size of the temperature distribution to a threshold value. An output produces ulcer information indicating the emergence of an ulcer or pre-ulcer when the percentage of the range size equals or exceeds the threshold value.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PATIENT FALL DETECTION
A patient monitoring system to help manage a patient that is at risk of falling is disclosed. The system includes a patient-worn wireless sensor that senses the patient's motion and wirelessly transmits information indicative of the sensed motion to a patient monitor. The patient monitor receives, stores, and processes the transmitted information to determine whether the patient has fallen or is about to fall. Upon such detection, the system can notify the patient's caretakers that the patient has fallen or is about to fall and therefore, is in need of immediate attention.
