METHOD FOR DETECTING BODY PARAMETERS
A method for detecting biometric parameters includes the steps of performing a bone graft procedure on at least one vertebra of a spine, providing at least one biometric sensor at the at least one vertebra, the sensor measuring at least one parameter selected from the group consisting of pressure, tension, shear, relative position, and vascular flow in an adjacent surrounding, and measuring the at least one biometric parameter at the vertebra with the sensor.

Method and apparatus for detecting and monitoring a foot pre-ulcer
A method of monitoring a patient's foot forms a thermogram of the sole of at least one foot of the patient, and determines whether the thermogram presents at least one of a plurality of prescribed patterns. The method also compares the thermogram against a prior thermogram of the same foot, and produces output information indicating the emergence of an ulcer on a given portion on the at least one foot as a function of 1) whether the thermogram is determined to present the at least one pattern, and 2) the comparison with the prior thermogram, which shows non-ulcerated tissue at the given location.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OBTAINING THERMAL IMAGE DATA OF A BODY PART AND THERMAL IMAGER
A computer-implemented method for obtaining thermal image data of a body part and a thermal imager are disclosed. The method comprises receiving image data of a body part, the image data including thermal image data, the thermal image data including thermal image data of the body part and background thermal image data, applying a classifier to the image data to detect a profile of the body part, the classifier being configured to use image data other than the thermal image data to perform the detection, generating a mask from said profile, and applying the mask to the thermal image data to remove the background thermal image data and obtain thermal image data of the body part.
METHOD OF MONITORING A SURFACE FEATURE AND APPARATUS THEREFOR
Dimensions of a surface feature are determined by capturing an image of the surface feature and determining a scale associated with the image. Structured light may be projected onto the surface, such that the position of structured light in the captured image allows determination of scale. A non-planar surface may be unwrapped. The surface may alternatively be projected into a plane to correct for the scene being tilted with respect to the camera axis. A border of the surface feature may be input manually by a user. An apparatus and system for implementing the method are also disclosed.

Systems and methods for patient fall detection
A patient monitoring system to help manage a patient that is at risk of falling is disclosed. The system includes a patient-worn wireless sensor that senses the patient's motion and wirelessly transmits information indicative of the sensed motion to a patient monitor. The patient monitor receives, stores, and processes the transmitted information to determine whether the patient has fallen or is about to fall. Upon such detection, the system can notify the patient's caretakers that the patient has fallen or is about to fall and therefore, is in need of immediate attention.
Assembly, Configured to Detect a Body on a Support
The present invention relates to an assembly, configured to detect a body on a support, comprising:—the support having a body receiving surface configured to receive the body;—an array of sensors that is arranged at a distance relative to the body receiving surface of the support and comprising:—a plurality of presence detectors;—at least one liveliness detector; and—a controller configured to detect the presence of a living person based on measurement signals of both the presence detectors and the at least one liveliness detector.
System Comprising a Time Indicator
The present invention relates to a time indicator to repeatedly monitor lapsed time after a preceding event or remaining time up to a subsequent event relative to a maximum period between the preceding event and the subsequent event, comprising:—a display configured to output an indication of lapsed or remaining time of the maximum period;—a controller connected to the display and configured: to monitor time; to accept an indication of an occurrence of the subsequent event; to reset the lapsed or remaining time relative to the maximum period upon occurrence of the subsequent event; and to drive the display to output the reset lapsed or remaining time relative to the maximum period.
Systems and methods for monitoring orientation to reduce pressure ulcer formation
A patient monitoring system to help manage a patient that is at risk of falling is disclosed. The system includes a patient-worn wireless sensor that can be affixed to the patient's back that senses the patient's motion and wirelessly transmits information indicative of the sensed motion to a patient monitor. The patient monitor receives, stores, and processes the transmitted information to determine whether the patient has fallen or is about to fall. Upon such detection, the system can notify the patient's caretakers that the patient has fallen or is about to fall and therefore, is in need of immediate attention.
