Intra-oral scanning device with active delete of unwanted scanned items
An intra-oral scanning device and system are augmented to provide an active delete (or filter) tool. The tool automatically detects and deletes unwanted items and artifacts capturing as the scan is being done. The technique provides a better user experience by automatically removing items the deletion of which that may otherwise be time-consuming, frustrating, or impossible for the user to delete any other way.
SYSTEMS, APPARATUSES, AND METHODS FOR DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF TEMPOROMANDIBULAR DISORDERS (TMD)
A method for diagnosis of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and related systems and apparatuses are disclosed. In the method, a visual evaluation of the patient in a standing position is first conducted. Condyle position in ear canals of the patient is palpated during jaw movement. A hip level of the patient is evaluated when back teeth of the patient are closed. If hips are unlevel, a first spacer is inserted between front teeth of the patient. The condyle position felt in the ear canals of the patient are re-palpated during jaw movements with the first spacer in place. The patient then raises and lowers his or her body by going up on their toes, and dropping to their heels. A reevaluation of the hip level of the patient is conducted and a positive or negative TMD diagnosis is indicated based on the reevaluation of the hip level of the patient.
PROTECTIVE SHIELD FOR MEDICAL PROCEDURES
A mask for covering the nose and mouth of a patient which supports a camera with a field of view into the oral cavity, and includes apertures for allowing for the passage of instrumentation into the oral cavity. The camera transmits images to a display, for example, in real time, through which the practitioner can see the area in the oral cavity where the procedure is being performed.
Apparatus and method for user interfacing in display glasses
A wearable apparatus for display glasses, according to certain embodiments, can include a display that includes a pair of screens configured to be mounted in front of respective eyes of a face of a wearer of the apparatus. The display can be configured to provide a display of information to the wearer. The information can include at least two options for selection. The wearable apparatus can also include a brain monitor configured to track brain wave activity of the wearer. The apparatus can further include a processor configured to identify one of the at least two options as selected based on the brain wave activity tracked by the brain monitor.
METHOD FOR ACQUIRING A DENTAL OBJECT
Disclosed herein is a method for acquiring a dental object of a patient with an object volume, in particular at least a part of a skull, an upper jaw and/or a lower jaw. To do so, a plurality of segment volume ranges are defined in the object volume, where the segment volume ranges overlap at most partially and directions of the segment volume ranges are not parallel to one another. The image data of the segment volume ranges is recorded by an MRI machine within a measuring volume of the MRI machine A two-dimensional composite image is generated from the image data of the individual segment volume ranges by projecting the image data onto a target plane. The target plane is disposed parallel to a defined midsagittal 10 plane of the skull or corresponds to the midsagittal plane, where a first segment volume range at least partially includes the midsagittal plane of the skull.
SYSTEM FOR DETECTING EATING WITH SENSOR MOUNTED BY THE EAR
A wearable device for detecting eating episodes uses a contact microphone to provide audio signals through an analog front end to an analog-to-digital converter to digitize the audio and provide digitized audio to a processor; and a processor configured with firmware in a memory to extract features from the digitized audio. A classifier determines eating episodes from the extracted features. In embodiments, messages describing the detected eating episodes are transmitted to a cell phone, insulin pump, or camera configured to record video of the wearer's mouth.
Root canal treating display device, root canal treating unit, and dental image display method
A root canal treatment information apparatus includes circuitry which stores three-dimensional information including information on a root canal of teeth in a storage, the three-dimensional information being acquired by an X-ray CT image capturing device, specify a tooth as a target of interest, generate a tooth image of the tooth, instruct display of the tooth image on a display, generate, based on the three-dimensional information, a root canal extension direction image showing a root canal extension direction along the root canal of the tooth, and instruct display of the root canal extension direction image on the display as overlapping, and in correspondence with, the tooth image.
Apparatus, systems and methods for obtaining cleaner physiological information signals
An earpiece module includes a housing configured to be attached to an ear of a person, a first audio sensor within the housing configured to detect auscultatory sounds from an ear canal of the ear and generate a physiological information signal from the auscultatory sounds, and a second audio sensor within the housing and oriented in a direction towards an outside environment of the person. The second audio sensor is configured to detect sounds external to the person including voice sounds and footstep sounds, and to generate an environmental information signal from the external sounds. A processor is configured to receive the physiological information signal and the environmental information signal, process the external sounds in the physiological information signal and the environmental information signal to reduce the voice sounds and the footstep sounds from the physiological information signal and generate a cleaner physiological information signal.
MONITORING BONE CHARACTERISTICS
The present disclosure is directed to methods and apparatus for monitoring bone characteristics for various conditions such as osteoporosis and/or periodontitis. In various embodiments, a dental hygiene appliance (100) may include: a handle (102) adapted to be held by a user; a tool (106) secured to the handle to perform a dental hygiene-related task; emitter(s) (114A, 116, 360A) mounted on the dental hygiene appliance to emit wave(s) (252, 362) towards a mandible (250, 350) of the user; sensor(s) (114B, 116, 360B) mounted on the dental hygiene appliance to detect wave(s) (254, 364) propagating away from the mandible, wherein the detected wave(s) originate from or are caused by the emitted wave(s); and a controller (108) communicatively coupled with the emitter(s) and the sensor(s).The controller may: receive, from the sensor(s), signal(s) indicative of the detected waves; and determine, based on the signal(s), bone characteristic(s) of the user.
AUGMENTED REALITY ENHANCEMENTS FOR DENTAL PRACTITIONERS
An image of a dental arch comprising a preparation tooth is generated by an image capture device associated with an augmented reality (AR) display. The image of the dental arch is registered to previous image data associated with the dental arch. A visual overlay associated with a dental prosthetic to be placed on the preparation tooth is generated based on the registering of the image of the dental arch to the previous image data associated with the dental arch. The visual overlay is output to the AR display, wherein the visual overlay is superimposed over a view of the preparation tooth on the AR display.
