HIP KNEE RANGE OF MOTION MEASUREMENT DEVICE
A hip knee range of motion measurement device includes a first movable arm, a second movable arm connected to the first movable arm via a first joint, and a third movable arm connected to the second movable arm via a second joint. The device further includes a first dial attached to the second movable arm and a second dial attached to the third movable arm, each configured to measure a joint angle of the patient. The first movable arm remains longitudinally oriented with a horizontal axis of a pelvis of a patient, the second movable arm remains in axial alignment to a horizontal axis of a femur of the patient, and the third movable arm remains in axial alignment to a horizontal axis of a tibia of the patient.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SURGICAL AND INTERVENTIONAL PLANNING, SUPPORT, POST-OPERATIVE FOLLOW-UP, AND FUNCTIONAL RECOVERY TRACKING
Various systems and methods are provided for surgical and interventional planning, support, post-operative follow-up, and functional recovery tracking. In general, a patient can be tracked throughout medical treatment including through initial onset of symptoms, diagnosis, non-surgical treatment, surgical treatment, and recovery from the surgical treatment. In one embodiment, a patient and one or more medical professionals involved with treating the patient can electronically access a comprehensive treatment planning, support, and review system. The system can provide recommendations regarding diagnosis, non-surgical treatment, surgical treatment, and recovery from the surgical treatment based on data gathered from the patient and the medical professional(s). The system can manage the tracking of multiple patients, thereby allowing for data comparison between similar aspects of medical treatments and for learning over time through continual data gathering, analysis, and assimilation to decision-making algorithms.
SYSTEMS FOR AND METHODS OF DIAGNOSING AND TREATING A SACROILIAC JOINT DISORDER
A method of diagnosing and treating a sacroiliac joint of a patient involving delivering a first member into the ilium via a first posterior approach, delivering a second member into the sacrum via a second posterior approach, coupling the first and second members to a pliers, and manipulating the first member relative to the second member via the pliers to determine an ailment of the sacroiliac joint.
Kinetic assessment and alignment of the muscular-skeletal system and method therefor
A system is disclosed herein for providing a kinetic assessment and preparation of a prosthetic joint comprising one or more prosthetic components. The system comprises a prosthetic component including sensors and circuitry configured to measure load, position of load, and joint alignment. The system further includes a remote system for receiving, processing, and displaying quantitative measurements from the sensors. The kinetic assessment measures joint alignment under loading that will be similar to that of a final joint installation. The kinetic assessment can use trial or permanent prosthetic components. Furthermore, adjustments can be made to the applied load magnitude, position of load, and joint alignment by various means to fine-tune an installation. The kinetic assessment increases both performance and reliability of the installed joint by reducing error that is introduced by elements that load or modify the joint dynamics not taken into account by prior assessment methods.
System and method for flip angle determination in magnetic resonance imaging
A system and method for calculating a flip angle schedule is provided. The technique includes selecting an initial condition, providing a function for calculating flip angles, calculating flip angles, assessing the flip angles, and repeating the calculation of the flip angles by adjusting the function until a desired flip angle schedule is obtained.
MEASUREMENT DEVICE, MEASUREMENT SYSTEM, MEASUREMENT METHOD, AND RECORDING MEDIUM
A measurement device that includes a calculation unit that calculates, using sensor data measured by a sensor according to a measurement motion regarding a limb of a user, the sensor being attached to the user at a predetermined attachment site, a length and a central angle of an arc related to a trajectory of the sensor in a period of the measurement motion, and an estimation unit that estimates a radius of the arc calculated using the calculated length and the calculated central angle of the arc as a length of the limb of the user.
METHODS AND KIT FOR A NAVIGATED PROCEDURE
Methods and a kit for a navigated procedure, such as a navigated surgical procedure relate to an optical sensor system such as a sterile optical sensor system. The methods relate to using components of the optical sensor system and a processing unit, for example, performing a navigated procedure using an optical sensor as draped and using the processing unit coupled to the optical sensor. Performing the navigated procedure comprises receiving instructions for the navigated procedure from the processing unit, and using the optical sensor comprises interacting with a button on the optical sensor through the drape to provide input to the processing unit. A kit comprises optical sensor system components and instructions for performing a method.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO COMPUTE A SUBLUXATION BETWEEN TWO BONES
Systems, methods and a sensor alignment mechanism are disclosed for medical navigational guidance systems. In one example, a system to make sterile a non-sterile optical sensor for use in navigational guidance during surgery includes a sterile drape having an optically transparent window to drape the optical sensor in a sterile barrier and a sensor alignment mechanism. The alignment mechanism secures the sensor through the drape in alignment with the window without breaching the sterile barrier and facilitates adjustment of the orientation of the optical sensor. The optical sensor may be aligned to view a surgical site when the alignment mechanism, assembled with the sterile drape and optical sensor, is attached to a bone. The alignment mechanism may be a lockable ball joint and facilitate orientation of the sensor in at least two degrees of freedom. A quick connect mechanism may couple the alignment mechanism to the bone.

Determination of an implant orientation relative to a bone
Implant orientation data representing a range of functional orientations of a first implant part relative to a first bone is determined. The first implant part is part of an implant pair to be implanted in an associated patient. The implant pair includes the first implant part and a second implant part. Second implant orientation data representing an orientation of the second implant part relative to a second bone is acquired. Implant shape data representing shapes of the first and the second implant parts is acquired. Activity data representing a desired activity of the associated patient is acquired. The desired activity has an associated original range of motion between the first bone and the second bone. The implant orientation data is determined based on the second implant orientation data, the implant shape data, and the activity data.
