The orthopedic system comprises a first plurality of shims of a first type, a second plurality of a second type, a measurement module, and the computer. The measurement module houses the electronic circuitry and at least one sensor. The measurement module is adapted to be used with the first plurality of shims and the second plurality of shims. The measurement module has a medial surface that differs from a lateral surface by shape, size, or contour.
TRIAL INSTRUMENTS FOR LIGATURE RECONSTRUCTION
A device, method, and system are provided for measuring the fit and mechanical properties of an intended ligament or tendon graft during a surgical procedure. The device includes a sensor body, a set of temporary fixation securements that terminate a set of opposing sides of the sensor body, and electronic circuitry in communication with the sensor body, where the electronic circuitry generates electric signals in proportion to the mechanical properties experienced by the sensor body. The set of temporary fixation securements are adapted to attach to at least one of: (i) one or more patient bones, or (ii) permanent fixation hardware assembled to one or more patient bones.
Systems and methods for joint replacement
Systems and methods for joint replacement are provided. The systems and methods include a surgical orientation device, a reference sensor device, and at least one orthopedic fixture. The surgical orientation device, reference sensor device, and orthopedic fixtures can be used to locate the orientation of an axis in the body, to adjust an orientation of a cutting plane or planes along a bony surface, or otherwise to assist in an orthopedic procedure(s).
Computer-assisted arthroplasty system
A computer-implemented method for creating an activity-optimized cutting guides for surgical procedures includes receiving one or more pre-operative images depicting one or more anatomical joints of a patient, and creating a three-dimensional anatomical model of the one or more anatomical joints based on the one or more pre-operative images. One or more patient-specific anatomical measurements are determined based on the three-dimensional anatomical model. A statistical model of joint performance is applied to the patient-specific anatomical measurements to identify one or more cut angles for performing a surgical procedure. A patient-specific cutting guide is created that comprises one or more apertures positioned based on the one or more cut angles.
Control system for a rehabilitation and exercise electromechanical device
An electromechanical device for rehabilitation includes pedals coupled to radially-adjustable couplings, an electric motor coupled to the pedals via the radially-adjustable couplings, and a control system including a processing device operatively coupled to the electric motor. The processing device configured to, responsive to a first trigger condition occurring, control the electric motor to operate in a passive mode by independently driving the radially-adjustable couplings rotationally coupled to the pedals. The processing device also configured to, responsive to a second trigger condition occurring, control the electric motor to operate in an active-assisted mode by measuring revolutions per minute of the radially-adjustable couplings, and cause the electric motor to drive the radially-adjustable couplings when the measured revolutions per minute satisfy a threshold condition, and responsive to a third trigger condition occurring, control the electric motor to operate in a resistive mode by providing resistance to rotation of the radially-adjustable couplings.
SYSTEM AND APPARATUS FOR SECURING KNEE JOINT WITH A LOAD FOR MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING
A system that includes: a force sensor assembly adapted to monitor a load as applied on a subject’s knee joint when the force sensor assembly remains in direct contact with the subject’s lower extremity and the load is monitored from inside a main magnet of an MRI scanner; a mobile unit comprising tracks configured to adjust a position of the force sensor assembly; a stationary base on which the mobile unit and the force sensor assembly are located, the mobile unit translatable solely axially on the stationary base; and a processor coupled to the force sensor assembly and programmed to read information encoding the load being monitored by the force sensor assembly, wherein an MRI scan of the knee j oint is initiated only when a predetermined load has been applied to the subject’s knee joint for a pre-determined period of time.
Joint Motion Measurement Apparatus and Method of Use
A joint motion measurement apparatus includes securing mechanisms that secure sensors to various body parts such as the leg, including the femur, tibia, malleoli and/or calcaneus. The sensors are configured to measure a position and/or motion of the various parts of the leg relative to one another. The sensor data is usable to determine kinematic and/or muscle properties of the leg including knee laxity, tibiofemoral measurements and/or spastic properties.
Apparatus and method for assessing laxity of a joint
An apparatus for evaluating motions of a joint is provided that is designed for determining stability of an anatomical joint. The apparatus includes a support frame, a fixation assembly for securing a first body segment of a joint, and a displacement assembly mounted to the support frame. The fixation assembly includes an axis of rotation moveable relative to the support frame. The displacement assembly includes a first frame pivotably mounted to the support frame and rotatably connected to a first end of the fixation assembly, and a second frame pivotably mounted to the support frame and rotatably connected to a second end of the fixation assembly.
