Method and apparatus for providing economical, portable deficit-adjusted adaptive assistance during movement phases of an impaired ankle

A method is described for providing deficit-adjusted adaptive assistance during movement phases of an impaired ankle. The method includes determining, on the processor, a value for a deficit parameter for each movement phase of a compound ankle function based on a difference between a parameter trace for a normal subject and the parameter trace for an impaired subject. The method further includes determining, on the processor, an adaptive magnitude for the robot-applied torque based on the value for the deficit parameter. The method further includes applying, to the robot joint, the adaptive magnitude for the robot-applied torque in only a first plane for the current movement phase, based on an adaptive timing. An apparatus is also described for providing deficit-adjusted adaptive assistance during movement phases of the impaired ankle.

20220125341 · 2022-04-28 ·

The present disclosure provides methods and systems for improved rehabilitation of ankle motion by visually-driven priming of motor movement. The methods and systems include a sensor configured to measure ankle angle. The generated signal may be used to determine a maximal range of angles the user is capable of generating in order to calibrate the system. Subsequently, the signal from the sensor may be used to display the user location relative to an indication used to prime the motor movement. User performance may be tracked and performance-based awards given to increase rehabilitative outcome. The method and systems may encourage increased patient compliance by providing a comfortable, effective mode of ankle rehabilitation.

DEVICE AND SYSTEM FOR MEASURING RANGE OF MOTION OF ANKLE, AND METHODS FOR USING THE SAME
20220125339 · 2022-04-28 ·

The device for measuring range of motion of an ankle provides for angular measurement of the range of motion of a patient's ankle, and includes a foot rest having a base, a pair of sidewalls and an inclined upper surface. A foot retainer releasably receives the patient's foot. A mounting plate is slidably mounted to one of the pair of sidewalls. The lower end of an elongated rod is rotatably mounted to the mounting plate. An inclinometer is secured to the elongated rod. A retaining bar is secured to the elongated rod, adjacent its upper end. The retaining bar is adapted for positioning adjacent a calf muscle of the patient when the patient's foot is received in the foot retainer.

FOOT STRETCHING AND DIAGNOSIS DEVICE, AND METHOD FOR CALCULATING STIFFNESS OF FOOT

A foot stretching/checkup device includes: a motor unit; a footrest unit including a lower footrest configured to be rotated about a first rotation axis, an upper footrest configured to be rotated about a second rotation axis and a connecting member connecting the upper footrest and the lower footrest; and a coupling unit including an arm portion rotated by the motor unit and a rotary coupler coupled to the upper footrest. The upper footrest is configured to be rotated by a predetermined angle about the second rotation axis by the rotation of the arm portion. The lower footrest is configured not to be rotated about the first rotation axis by rotation of the arm portion until the upper footrest is rotated by the predetermined angle.

Motion classification user library

A method includes collecting reference motion data in a device from a motion sensor worn by a user for a movement having a predetermined classification. The motion sensor is attached to a limb having a joint. A user library entry is generated in the device based on the reference motion data and the predetermined classification. Additional motion data is collected in the device from the motion sensor. User motions in the additional motion data corresponding to the user library entry are classified in the device. Range of motion data associated with the user motions is generated in the device. A report is generated in the device including the user motions and the associated range of motion data.
