A gripping fabric and method for construction thereof is provided. A fabric structure that defines an inner surface and an outer surface is created. The fabric structure or the gripping fabric is configured to conform to a user's body part for constructing a garment, for example, a sock. The inner surface is proximal to a user contact surface and distal to an external contact surface. The outer surface is proximal to the external contact surface and distal to the user contact surface. A gripping material is selectively applied on the inner surface and/or the outer surface of the fabric structure. The gripping material on the inner surface and the outer surface of the fabric structure adheres to the user contact surface and the external contact surface respectively, thereby providing grip between the user contact surface and the fabric structure, and grip between the fabric structure and the external contact surface.

A top band (1, 1) for garments (2), in particular for medical compression stockings or bandages, comprising a flexible basic body (3, 3) with an inside (4, 4) facing the garment (2) and an outside (5, 5), wherein the flexible basic body (3, 3) comprises a fastening section (7, 7) for the garment (2) on the inside (4, 4) next to a coupling section (6, 6), and wherein the fastening section (7, 7) is formed by an edge-side recess (8, 8) in the flexible basic body (3, 3), so that the garment (2) can be fastened, offset from the coupling section (6, 6) of the flexible basic body (3, 3), in the recess (8, 8).

An apparatus is provided for impeding a downward travel of a leg section of a sock by the use of a retainer provided about at least one of a heel of the sock and a heel opening, defined by a heel opening perimeter, of the sock, wherein the retainer impedes the downward travel of the leg section of the sock. A method is provided for the use of the retainer to impede the downward travel of the leg section of the sock.

An apparatus and method for assisting and educating patient mobility and recovery are disclosed. In one embodiment, wearable garments, such as socks, include at least one visual indicator to instruct and educate patients to ensure that the proper foot is used for mobility and recovery. The wearable garments includes a number of visual indicators to aid with instruction and education even for patients with visual impairments. The wearable garments additionally includes a non-skid bottom surface for preventing slips.

The no show sock wraps the material around the big toe and additional four toes, keeping it in place and allowing it to remain below the shoe line. It than pulls underneath the foot and attaches to the back of the shoe with a Velcro backing or some sort of adhesive to keep the sock in place as to not slip under the foot. This allows for all day comfort, without the sock showing. Optional features may include, but are not limited to a variety of decorative material, designs, textures, stitching patterns or appliques, dry wicking material/sweat proof material (to prevent odor), and different types of Velcro (shapes strength and widths). This sock is washable.

A non-slip hosiery to provide metatarsal support and foot stabilization when worn with high heeled or open toed shoes. The non-slip hosiery includes one or more gel cushioned pads at the ball and heel of the foot of the hosiery. The gel pads are configured such that the pads may be in at least partial contact with the wearer's skin and the insole of the shoe, providing frictional contact to limit slipping of the wearer's foot within the shoe.

A form fitting foot covering is disclosed and claimed. The foot covering includes an elongated tubular body constructed of a flex material, and includes an opening at one end that is adapted to allow a user to pull the foot covering over her foot. Five toes are disposed on an end of the elongated tubular body, and are adapted to allow a user to insert her toes therein. In certain embodiments, the foot covering includes a topical treatment predisposed within as well as a non-slip pattern on the bottom of the foot covering.

A slip-resistant garment may include: at least one textile structure; and/or at least one slip-resistant portion coupled to the at least one textile structure. The at least one slip-resistant portion may include at least one thermoplastic polymer selected from among: (a) block copolymers of styrene; (b) copolymers of ethylene with at least one C.sub.3-C.sub.12 alpha-olefin; (c) copolymers of at least one butene with at least one diene; or (d) copolymers of ethylene with at least one ester having an ethylene unsaturation selected from among: C.sub.1-C.sub.8 alkyl acrylate, C.sub.1-C.sub.8 alkyl methacrylates, or vinyl C.sub.2-C.sub.8 carboxylates. The copolymers of ethylene with at least one C.sub.3-C.sub.12 alpha-olefin further include at least one dienic termonomer.

An apparatus for educating children includes a sock with an open end and a closed end. The apparatus includes a first sock symbol located on the first side of the sock which is oriented with a top of the first sock symbol oriented toward the closed end of the sock. The apparatus includes a second sock symbol located on the second side of the sock toward the closed end which is oriented with a bottom of the second sock symbol toward the closed end of the sock. Bending an end of the sock toward the first side inverts the second sock symbol and places it and a portion of the second side in a position to be viewed from the first side of the sock.
