ORTHODONTIC BRACES AND FEET ORTHOTICS WITH BACKSCATTER BASED SENSORS
Inventions herein include at least mostly optically clear orthodontic braces and feet orthotics (collectively referred to as “appliances”) with backscatter based sensors. These two categories of appliances share a common property requiring that the given appliance must be correctly custom manufactured to fit a patient's own particular geometry and dimensions of their teeth and/or feet in order to perform as intended. Incorporating such appliances with backscatter based sensors enables simple, easy, fast, efficient, and cost effective measurements, in real-time or near real-time, of stresses, forces, structural changes, and/or the like in the given appliance; which in turn can aid in determining if adjustments or re-manufacture of the appliance may be needed or desired; and/or wherein such measurements may aid in evaluating performance of the given appliance. In some embodiments, such measurements may also be taken remotely away from a practitioner; and then communicated to a remotely located practitioner.
Insert sensing system with medial-lateral shims and method therefor
An orthopedic system to monitor a parameter related to the muscular-skeletal system is disclosed. The orthopedic system includes electronic circuitry, at least one sensor, and a computer to receive measurement data in real-time. The orthopedic system comprises a first plurality of shims of a first type, a second plurality of a second type, a measurement module, and the computer. The measurement module houses the electronic circuitry and at least one sensor. The measurement module is adapted to be used with the first plurality of shims and the second plurality of shims. The measurement module has a medial surface that differs from a lateral surface by shape, size, or contour.
Impedance-Determining Medical Systems
Disclosed herein are impedance-determining medical systems. An impedance-determining medical system can include an impedance interrogator and an impedance-sensing medical device. The impedance interrogator can include instructions configured to instantiate one or more processes in random-access memory upon processing by one or more processors that determine impedance from electrical signals corresponding to electrical currents passed through a biological or non-biological material. The impedance-sensing medical device can include two or more longitudinal conductors distributed among one or more pieces of the impedance-sensing medical device and separated by one or more longitudinal insulators. The two-or-more conductors can be configured to emit, detect, or alternately emit and detect via two or more electrodes thereof the electrical currents passed through the biological or non-biological material. The impedance-sensing medical device can be configured to form a direct or indirect connection to the impedance interrogator and provide the electrical signals to the impedance interrogator.
METHOD FOR OPERATING SURGICAL INSTRUMENT SYSTEMS
A method for adjusting the operation of a surgical instrument using machine learning in a surgical suite is disclosed.
Impedance measurement
A system comprising a plurality of electrodes adapted to measure bio impedance measurements using electrical currents passing in a target thorax area of a target therebetween during a learning phase, at least one radiofrequency (RF) sensor adapted to measure RF interaction measurements of RF radiation interacting with the target thorax area during the learning phase, and at least one processor adapted to: calculate calibration function according to the bio impedance measurements and the RF interaction measurements, and determine a target thorax area value by adjusting subsequent bio impedance measurements using subsequent electrical currents passing in the target thorax area during an operational learning phase using the calibration function.
Offset illumination of a scene using multiple emitters in a hyperspectral, fluorescence, and laser mapping imaging system
Offset illumination using multiple emitters in a fluorescence imaging system is described. A system includes an emitter for emitting pulses of electromagnetic radiation and an image sensor comprising a pixel array for sensing reflected electromagnetic radiation. The emitter comprises a first emitter and a second emitter for emitting different wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation. The system is such that at least a portion of the pulses of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the emitter comprises one or more of a hyperspectral emission, a fluorescence emission, and/or a laser mapping pattern.
DEVICE FOR MEASURING, PROCESSING AND TRANSMITTING IMPLANT PARAMETERS
A device (1) for measuring, processing and transmitting implant parameters in osteosynthesis, the device (1) comprising: a biocompatible sterilizable housing (2); a strain sensor (3); an electronic unit (4) to process electrical signals provided by the strain sensor (3), wherein the housing (2) comprises (i) a measurement portion (5) of the height H5 comprising a cavity (51); and (ii) a compartment portion (6) of the height H6 with a cavity (61), and wherein the measurement portion (5) comprises at least two affixing means (7) for affixing the device (1) to an implant and wherein the electronic unit (4) is positioned in the cavity of the compartment portion (6).
PELVIC FLOOR PROBE DEVICE AND METHOD FOR EVALUATING PELVIC FLOOR MUSCLE EXERCISE
A pelvic floor contraction detection system and method to evaluate pelvic floor muscle (PFM) exercise performed by a user are disclosed. The contraction detection system comprises a probe adapted to position within a pelvic cavity of the user, a data processing module, and a user interface. The probe comprises two or more sections. Each section is filled with a group of electronic sensors. The first and second sections are seated in contact with tissues of the pelvic cavity. The first and second groups of sensors are configured to detect pressure applied by the internal vaginal surface on the surface of the first and second sections of the probe respectively. The data processing module is in communication with the first and second groups of sensors and configured to calculate a number that is interpreted as the “quality of the contraction”. The data processing module determines the incorrect pelvic floor muscle contraction and notifies the user via a user interface.
