When a first alphabet tag of the plurality of alphabet tags is brought proximate to the indicator marker and the location of the reader within the housing, the first alphabet tag transmits first data to the reader. The at least one processor performs operations of receiving the first data from the reader, associating the first data from the first alphabet tag with a first set of processor-executable application instructions of the plurality of sets of processor-executable application instructions on the at least one processor-readable storage medium, and executing the first set of processor-executable application instructions based on receipt of the first data.

Doll companion integrating child self-directed execution of applications with cell phone communication, education, entertainment, alert and monitoring systems
10086302 · 2018-10-02 ·

The presented cell phone-enabled doll companion allows a child novel ways to self-select and self-execute applications while requiring no intervention or supervision from the parent. Further, it provides learning, entertainment and safety by integrating cell phone communication, education, entertainment, alert and monitoring systems. While providing a convenient means of communication between the child and parent, the system allows surveillance of a child's real-time environment, GPS monitoring and SIDS/health monitoring. The functionality and the physical elements of the system are programmable through installation of applications downloadable from an application store. Various options for parental access to a configuration interface to modify settings and download applications are provided, including via a cell phone, a website, customer service call center and/or the doll companion touch screen.

Monitoring for movement disorders using unmanned aerial vehicles

Aspects include methods, systems and computer program products for evaluating a patient for a movement disorder. The method comprises defining a patient to be evaluated and deploying a unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to a location of the patient. The UAV includes a patient evaluation feature and at least one sensor operably coupled to the patient evaluation feature. The UAV is positioned relative to the patient to measure a patient motor characteristic. The patient motor characteristic is measured with the at least one sensor. A movement disorder is determined based at least in part on the measured patient motor characteristic. A signal is transmitted based on the detecting the movement disorder.

A secondary electronic device is defined separate from the activity tracking device. The secondary electronic device is defined to receive data from the activity tracking device regarding the detected and recorded movement of the person. A website is defined to communicate with connected devices including the secondary electronic device. The website is defined to provide a user account for the person. The website is defined to convey information regarding the detected and recorded movement of the person through the user account.

Method of therapy and haptic gaming system for sensory agnosia

A method for treating patients with sensor agnosia is described that uses a gaming system with a specialised two handed game controller that can provide isolated haptic feedback to the patient's hand that has the greatest sensory agnosia. The controller is designed to be easy to use for patients with limited dexterity and requires the user to use both hands to control the controller. The gaming system provides a range of interactive computer games that provide contextually relevant haptic feedback of varying durations and intensities. Haptic feedback is provided in response to events in a game, and whilst the controller requires two hands, each hand is vibrationally isolated so that haptic feedback is only provided to the desired hand. The system logs usage statistics of the patient and these can be sent back to a clinician for analysis. The system and controller is particularly suitable for children with Cerebral Palsy, but may be used to treat patients with sensory agnosia due to range of conditions.

Handheld cordless non-nutritive suck assessment device

A handheld device detects and measures orofacial activity, including oral cavity pressure and one or more compressions, deformations, displacements, or deflections of a pacifier engaged to the device. The compressions, deformations, displacements, or deflections of the pacifier refer to changes in the shape of the pacifier, caused by patient, relative to an initial state of the pacifier. The device translates the oral cavity pressure and compressions into an electrical signal, digitizes the electrical signal, and performs analytical processing of the digitized signal to extract physiological artifacts salient to the patient's ability to orally feed using a software application executing on a processor within the device. The device automates and simplifies the assessment of a patient's readiness to orally feed by presenting graphical and numeric scores for organization and effort of non-nutritive suck.

Provided are a robot, a robot control method, and a non-transitory recording medium capable of causing a predetermined object to continuously have a health support without having a consciousness of a diagnosis. The robot includes an obtainer (a sensor set) obtaining biometric information of a predetermined object in accordance with a touch by the predetermined object to the robot without requesting the predetermined object to touch the robot, the biometric information being obtained by the touch of the predetermined object, a determiner determining the biometric information obtained by the obtainer, and a controller controlling the robot based on a determined result by the determiner.

Devices, systems, and methods for monitoring, classifying, and encouraging activity

Devices, methods, and systems for monitoring, classifying and encouraging activity through the use of an accelerometer or other sensor in a toy or other accessory (such as a backpack or watch) that records activity are disclosed. The activity is classified, using various motion classification algorithms, to determine the specific types and amount of activities performed and the times and duration for which they were performed. The classified data is used in the rest of the system, which allows users to view activity history, recommendations for how to improve health, and play games in which the player's game performance is effected by their activity levels. In games and on the website, feedback is also given to users to encourage and reward exercise, while handicapping users that are not active.
