ELECTRONIC DEVICE HAVING SEGMENTAL PORTION ON HOUSING THEREOF
A housing of an electronic device may operate as an antenna while being partly insulated to prevent the degradation of antenna radiation efficiency. The electronic device may include a housing, a display, at least one sensor, and at least one processor. The housing may include a first surface, a second surface opposite to the first surface, and a side surface enclosing at least part of a space between the first and second surfaces. The side surface may include an elongated first member that is formed of an opaque material, and at least one second member dividing the first member into at least two segments and formed of a light-transmittable material. The at least one sensor may be located in the space adjacent to the at least one second member and oriented to detect incident light received through the at least one second member.
PERIODIC INACTIVITY ALERTS AND ACHIEVEMENT MESSAGES
Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for generating alarms and congratulatory messages to reduce sedentary time. One method includes an operation for capturing motion data using an activity tracking device. The method further includes operations for storing the motion data in memory, and for identifying one or more intervals during a day. Each interval includes a start time and an end time, and a near-end time is defined between the start and the end time. For each interval, the number of steps taken during the interval is determined, and the number of steps is compared against a goal defined by a number of steps to be taken during the interval. A first notification is displayed when the number of steps is less than the goal and the near-end time has been reached. A second notification is displayed congratulating the user if the interval goal is reached.
SIGNAL DECOMPOSITION, TRACKING, ANALYSIS, AND RECONSTRUCTION
A system and method for representing quasi-periodic electrocardiography waveforms, wherein system employs a hybrid-coding scheme combining linear predictive coding techniques based upon Algebraic Code Excited Linear Prediction with a discrete wavelet transforms.
Mobile apparatus
A smart phone includes photoelectric pulse wave sensing units that obtain photoelectric pulse wave signals from hands holding the smart phone, a touch screen on which a plurality of operation switches that accept operations performed by thumbs are displayed, and a switch arrangement changing unit that changes the arrangement of the displayed plurality of operation switches. The switch arrangement changing unit, when photoelectric pulse wave signals are obtained by the photoelectric pulse wave sensing units, changes the arrangement of the operation switches displayed on the touch screen in such a manner that the operation switches are arranged along a circular arc of a virtual circle whose center is located at a carpometacarpal joint of the thumb of a right hand performing operations and whose radius is the distance from the carpometacarpal joint to the tip of the thumb.
Systems, articles and methods for signal routing in wearable electronic devices that detect muscle activity of a user using a set of discrete and separately enclosed pod structures
Wearable electronic devices that employ techniques for routing signals between components are described. An exemplary wearable electronic device includes a set of pod structures with each pod structure positioned adjacent and physically coupled to at least one other pod structure. The set of pod structures includes multiple sensor pods and at least one processor pod. Each sensor pod includes an on-board sensor to in use detect user-effected inputs and provide signals in response to the user-effected inputs. The signals are serially routed via successive ones of adjacent pod structures by respective communicative pathways until the signals are routed from the sensor pods to the processor pod. A processor on-board the processor pod processes the signals. Systems, articles, and methods for routing electrical signals and/or optical signals, including analog signals and/or digital signals, between pod structures are described.
Integrated Injection System and Communication Device
An integrated system for injection including an injection device in electronic connection with a communication device is provided. The external communication device may be a handheld electronic device such as a Smartphone or a dedicated reader such as a reader capable of reading information contained on an RFID tag. The injection device includes a needle and a drug delivery portion enclosed within an external housing. Optionally, a plurality of sensors is affixed to the surface of the needle to collect data about the injection and physical characteristics of the patient. The data may be recorded on a data capture module. The electronic chip may be a readable and writable electronic chip such as a non-volatile memory chip. Alternatively, the electronic chip is a passive RFID tag. The injection device may further include a data transmitter for sending information obtained from the data capture module to the external communications device.
System and method for fitness testing, tracking and training
A system and method for adaptive fitness testing is provided. A fitness testing application manages fitness tests on a fitness testing apparatus by collecting physiological data and calculating various performance metrics. The fitness testing application automatically reconfigures fitness tests to adopt to a user's improving fitness level.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR INCORPORATING PHYSIOLOGICAL SELF-REGULATION CHALLENGE INTO GEOSPATIAL SCENARIO GAMES AND/OR SIMULATIONS
A method of providing physiological self-regulation challenges prior to participating in a series of activities or exercises at a series of predefined locations includes determining a physiological goal associated with each location. A sensing device measures a physiological state of a user, and a mobile communication device communicates to a user whether or not the user has achieved the physiological goal for the challenge. The level of difficulty of the physiological goal may be reduced if the user does not meet the goal. The physiological goal may comprise a brain state that is conducive to learning, and the sensing device may be configured to measure brain state values representing cognitive engagement. Upon achievement of each physiological goal, the participant is provided with a reward such as information concerning the current predefined location and/or information concerning the next predefined location.
AUDIOMETER
An audiometer comprising: a database storing a non-transitory digital test signal associated with a desired test sound; a digital to analog converter (DAC) that converts the digital test signal to an analog signal; headphones that produce a sound responsive to the analog signal; a microphone that registers the sound; and a controller that adjusts the digital test signal so that the sound produced by the headphones has acceptable fidelity relative to the desired test sound to have the sound be useable in a hearing test.
RECONFIGURABLE MEASUREMENT SYSTEM
A system for measuring health data includes a measurement device. The measurement device includes at least one measurement interface to receive a first fluid sample, a processor to measure one or more first characteristics of the first fluid sample, and at least one memory device to store first data. The processor reads the first data and measures the one or more first characteristics of the first fluid sample according to the first data. The at least one memory device also stores second data.
