PATIENT POSITIONING SYSTEM

Provided herein is technology relating to medical imaging and radiation therapy and particularly, but not exclusively, to devices, methods, and systems for positioning a patient with respect to a radiation source to image the patient and/or to treat the patient by exposing the patient to a radiation beam produced by the radiation source.

BREAST IMAGING APPARATUS

A breast imaging apparatus includes a radiation generation unit configured to generate radiation and a radiation detection unit configured to detect radiation irradiation from the radiation generation unit and can rotate the radiation generation unit and the radiation detection unit in a state in which they face each other. Imaging is performed in a state in which a body part (breast) of an object to be imaged is sandwiched by a pressing panel on a first side of the breast imaging apparatus. In addition, imaging is performed while rotating the radiation generation unit and the radiation detection unit in a state in which the body part (breast) of the object to be imaged is inserted between the radiation generation unit and the radiation detection unit from a second side opposite to the first side of the breast imaging apparatus.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DESIGNING AND MANUFACTURING CUSTOM IMMOBILIZATION MOLDS FOR USE IN MEDICAL PROCEDURES

Described herein are systems and methods of processing immobilization molds for application of treatment, A computing system may generate a three-dimensional mold model of immobilization mold within with a subject is to be positioned for application of a treatment. The computing system may subtract a three-dimensional scan of at least a portion of the subject from the three-dimensional mold model to define an opening therein. The computing system may remove, from the three-dimensional mold model, a first portion to define an imprint in the opening from a first axis along which the subject is to enter. The computing system may remove, from a second portion of the three-dimensional mold model remaining with the removal of the first portion, inward protrusions into the imprint of relative to the second axis intersecting the first axis.

DENTAL IMAGING WITH PHOTON-COUNTING DETECTOR

An extra-oral dental imaging apparatus for obtaining an image from a patient has a radiation source; a first digital imaging sensor that provides, for each of a plurality of image pixels, at least a first digital value according to a count of received photons that exceed at least a first energy threshold; a mount that supports the radiation source and the first digital imaging sensor on opposite sides of the patient's head; a computer in signal communication with the digital imaging sensor for acquiring a first two-dimensional image from the first digital imaging sensor; and a second digital imaging sensor that is alternately switched into place by the mount and that provides image data according to received radiation.

ADJUSTABLE IMMOBILIZER APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR IMMOBILIZING A PATIENT

Systems for immobilizing a patient are disclosed. The system includes at least one preform formed from a low melting temperature thermoplastic, the preform being configured to be formed to the anatomy of the patient, at least one frame coupled to the at least one preform, and at least one support configured to support the anatomy of the patient. The system also includes at least one lock mechanism coupled to at least one of the frame and the support and configured to couple the at least one frame to the at least one support, and at least one adjuster mechanism coupled to at least one of the at least one frame and the at least one support and configured to selectively adjust a distance between the at least one frame and the at least one support while the at least one frame is coupled to the at least one support.

A cephalostat for acquiring teleradiographic images through an extraoral radiographic apparatus includes a pair of earpieces at the ends of two shafts and a small bar for resting again the nasion, these components being manually adjustable to adjust them to the skull of the patient under examination, wherein the cephalostat is free from metallic elements in the parts on which X-rays impinge, with the exception of radio-opaque markers, and is interchangeable with a craniostat fixed in the same apparatus seat.

X-ray imaging apparatus and patient support

The invention concerns an X-ray imaging apparatus for imaging a skull or a partial area of the skull, which apparatus comprises between the X-ray source and detector a patient support means (17). The patient support means (17) comprise a rear rest structure (170) containing a support part (171) arranged to get positioned at occipital area. The rear rest structure (170) comprises a first elongated supporting structure (172), a first end of which containing said support part (171) and a second end of which extending to different side of the imaging station (18) than where said support part (171) is located.
