Image data can be obtained with an imaging device. A location of the imaging device relative to a subject can be determined. A location of an instrument can be tracked relative to the subject using two or more tracking systems operating with different tracking modalities. Also, the tracked location of the instrument can be illustrated relative to the image data.

RADIATION IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, RADIATION IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD, AND RECORDING MEDIUM HAVING RADIATION IMAGE PROCESSING PROGRAM STORED THEREIN

A first imaging unit obtains a first radiation image, which is imaged under first imaging conditions. A second imaging unit obtains a plurality of projection images by tomosynthesis imaging under second imaging conditions. A reconstructing unit reconstructs a plurality of projection images to generate a plurality of tomographic images of cross sectional planes of a subject. An image synthesizing unit generates a second radiation image employing the plurality of tomographic images. A subtraction processing unit administers a subtraction process on the first and second radiation images, to generate a subtraction image.

Apparatus and method for fixation of tissue in secondary and tertiary planes during medical imaging, examination, and intervention
11426252 · 2022-08-30 ·

A device for fixing the outer boundaries of a region of body tissue in a secondary plane (and optionally in a tertiary plane) during medical imaging, examination, and/or intervention. The caliper device includes a caliper bar with two sliding caliper arms that provide fixation of the region of tissue in the secondary plane. One embodiment provides tertiary fixation with a center plate fixator that extends from a center plate positioner. The caliper device is positioned around the region of body tissue within the primary plane fixation instrumentation. The caliper arms (and optionally, the center plate fixator) move together to “thicken” the region of tissue between them. The device is preferably constructed of radiotransparent material and for single-use applications.

During orthopedic surgeries, body parts are moved in different ways to cause different anatomic features (e.g. muscles or the trochanters) to tighten or loosen, or become more or less prominent during the intended surgical incisions, which can result in easier surgical procedures. Body parts can be moved using a variety of different structures. The exemplary structures described herein can allow for: (1) a person's leg and foot to be rotated about the axis of the leg (i.e., femur/tibia axis); (2) a person's leg can be pivoted generally about the hip/femoral head/acetabulum to vary the angle between the axis of the leg and a median sagittal plane; (3) a person's leg can be moved in a direction parallel to the leg axis; and/or a person's leg can be pivoted in a generally vertical plane, about the femoral head/acetabulum while the axis of the leg and the median sagittal plane remaining substantially parallel.

INFANT IMMOBILIZER FOR MEDICAL IMAGING
20220047228 · 2022-02-17 ·

A medical imaging support includes a substantially flat radiotransparent platform, a plurality of radiotransparent flaps, and closure mechanisms. The platform has a longitudinal direction between a top edge and a bottom edge. The plurality of sets of radiotransparent flaps have a first set of the radiotransparent flaps positioned closer to the top edge in the longitudinal direction than the second set of radiotransparent flaps, and at least one set of flaps includes a first flap and a second flap where the first flap is fixed to the platform proximate a first side edge and the second flap is fixed to the platform proximate a second side edge. The closure mechanisms are positioned on the first flap or second flap of each set of radiotransparent flaps, wherein the closure mechanism selectively fixes the first flap to the second flap of each set of radiotransparent flaps.

MODULAR PATIENT POSITIONING SYSTEM

A modular patient positioning system includes: a first pegboard having a first pegboard hole; a second pegboard rotatably coupled to the first pegboard and having a second pegboard hole, the first pegboard and second pegboard lying along a common plane in a first configuration and the first pegboard and second pegboard lying along different planes in a second configuration. A first body portion and a second body portion of a patient's body may be positioned and supported in different planes by having the first pegboard support the first body portion and the second pegboard support the second body portion; and a leg positioner including a mounting structure for mounting the leg positioner on the second pegboard and positioning a leg in a predetermined position relative to the second pegboard. The mounting structure of the leg positioner allows for adjusting axial rotation, abduction/adduction, elevation/depression, and/or flexion/extension of the leg.

Head neck immobilization wrap

An immobilization apparatus having at least one or more straps that engage a surface; wherein at least one of the straps comprises a force gauge to determine the amount of force applied to a patient immobilized with said straps; wherein the position of the patient is replicable for treatment of radiation and other head or neck treatments.
