Collecting and harvesting cut bone from rongeur
A collector used to collect bone includes: a container body defining an interior containment space for receiving and retaining collected bone, and having at least one open end for access and removal of collected bone from the interior containment space; and a cap in covering relation to the open end of the container body such that access to the interior containment space for removal of collected bone is inhibited. The collector includes an intake port defining an opening for receiving therein a distal end of a kerrison rongeur for collecting cut bone from a cutting area thereof, and the cap includes at least one scraper for engaging and dislodging cut bone from the cutting area of a distal end of a kerrison rongeur when received within the intake port. The collector preferably is used with a kerrison rongeur for collecting cut bone therefrom.
BONE MARROW ACCESS APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR LOCATING SAME
A bone marrow access apparatus includes a bone penetrating member and a cap. The bone penetrating member includes a tubular insertion portion, and a head portion provided at a proximal end of the tubular insertion portion. A cross-sectional shape of the head portion is wider than a cross-sectional shape of the tubular insertion portion. A recess is provided in the head portion, and an internal channel is provided through the head portion and the tubular insertion portion. The cap accommodates the head portion of the bone penetrating member therein. The cap includes a lower wall which covers at least a part of a distal side of the head portion, and a projection which projects into the recess of the head portion.
BONE MARROW HARVESTING DEVICE
A bone marrow harvesting device can include: a hub inserted into a bone marrow cavity; a catheter inserted into the hub and having a syringe detachably connected to one side thereof; and a holder connected to one end of the catheter such that the catheter is movable along the longitudinal direction. The bone marrow harvesting device, when harvesting bone marrow, can not only easily and stably move the position of a catheter inserted into a bone marrow cavity, but can also harvest the bone marrow in a state where the catheter is stably fixed after the position of the catheter is moved.
BONE BIOPSY DEVICE AND RELATED METHODS
Devices and methods used to obtain core tissue samples are disclosed. The devices may be configured to drill into cortical bone and saw a hole into a bone lesion and/or bone marrow while obtaining the core tissue sample. The devices can include a motor and a clutch configured to rotate a trocar having a tip configured for drilling and an outer coax cannula having a trephine tip configured for sawing. The core tissue sample may be received within an inner cannula as an intermediate cannula cuts a hole in the bone lesion and/or bone marrow. The devices can include a spacer.
Bone matter collection apparatuses
This document describes bone matter collection devices and methods for their use. For example, longitudinally extendable/retractable spirally wound, conically-shaped bone matter collection/harvesting devices are described. In some implementations, such bone matter collection devices can be attachable with and detachable from bone drill bits. In some implementations, bone chips generated by bone drilling are collected in such a bone matter collection device while the bone matter collection device is detachably coupled to the bone drill bit, and the collected bone chips can be used for bone grafting and other purposes.
Dual needle core biopsy instrument
The embodiments presented herein present a single needle core biopsy instrument and modification required that convert the single needle core biopsy instrument to a dual needle core biopsy instrument. Depending on the design, the dual needle core biopsy instrument permits the simultaneous extraction of tissue or bone specimens taken at between 0.1 mm and 3 mm apart.
Fastening device for acquiring bone marrow aspirate
The invention involves a device and method for acquiring bone marrow aspirate. The system includes an elongated cannulated fastener having a threaded end for attachment to a bone. The threaded portion includes a directional aperture sized to allow marrow to be drawn into the cannula. The directional aperture also allows the user to direct the aperture in a desired direction within the bone for acquisition of the marrow. The distal end of the cannulated fastener includes a connector which may be in the form of a Luer lock to allow vacuum to be applied to the cannula for drawing the marrow into a syringe or the like.
Apparatus and methods for aspirating tissue
A bone marrow aspiration device and associated method includes an introducer needle and an aspiration needle. The introducer needle includes an introducer cannula and a removable introducer stylet that includes a sharp tip to penetrate bone. The aspiration needle includes an optionally flexible aspiration cannula and a blunt stylet. The aspiration needle is receivable in the introducer cannula when the introducer stylet is removed from the introducer needle. The aspiration cannula forms a channel for aspirating bone marrow when the stylet is removed. The aspiration device also includes a locking mechanism to lock the aspiration cannula to the introducer cannula when the aspiration cannula is received in the introducer cannula, whereby the aspiration cannula can be advanced distally relative to the introducer cannula in a controlled manner, and whereby pulling the aspiration cannula proximally causes the introducer cannula to move proximally with the aspiration cannula.
BONE BIOPSY SYSTEM AND METHOD
A bone biopsy system includes a stylet, a trephine needle, a drive connector and a push rod. The trephine needle includes a lumen and a cutting edge. The stylet is received in the lumen to set the trephine needle in position for procuring a bone core sample. The stylet is then removed and the trephine needle is driven into the bone to collect a bone core sample in the lumen.
Device and method for punching bone
The invention resides in the field of medical technology. It relates in particular to a sonotrode suitable for use with an ultrasonic surgical instrument. The invention refers further to an ultrasonic surgical instrument for cutting or punching bones, including such a sonotrode as well as a method for manufacturing the sonotrode of the invention.
