Electric Door Monitoring
20170310261 · 2017-10-26 ·

A method of monitoring the mechanical condition of a passenger door on a public transit vehicle wherein the door operator is a brushed direct current electrical motor and comprises the steps of: repeatedly recording a profile of the motor current vs. time following initiation of opening or closing of the door; based on previously recorded profiles establishing acceptable ranges of motor current for times following initiation of opening or closing the door; and comparing an instant motor current profile to the acceptable ranges and indicating a potential fault condition if the motor current is outside the acceptable ranges.

MULTIPLE INTERACTING SYSTEMS AT A SITE

Disclosed are platforms for communicating among one or more otherwise independent systems involved in controlling functions of buildings or other sites having switchable optical devices deployed therein. Such independent systems include a window control system and one or more other independent systems such as systems that control residential home products (e.g., thermostats, smoke alarms, etc.), HVAC systems, security systems, lighting control systems, and the like. Together the systems control and/or monitor multiple features and/or products, including switchable windows and other infrastructure of a site, which may be a commercial, residential, or public site.

Targeted illumination system

To allow more daylighting and protect against direct solar radiation, the system may include a window shading system that impacts an area (or area of interest). The system may adjust different window shades in different ways and for different periods of time to protect against a direct solar radiation onto an area of interest. The system may provide targeted shadows onto the area of interest. The system may also analyze or predict angles of solar rays that comprise the direct solar radiation and determine an impact of the solar rays on the area of interest, wherein the adjusting of window shades is based on the determining.

Encrypted communications for a movable barrier environment

An at least partially secure communication environment is provided in which accessory devices can be communicated with and controlled in the context of a movable barrier operator system. In one example approach, a gateway device can be configured to coordinate and control such communications in a secure manner. Three example approaches to such a communication environment include: a gateway device's receiving an accessory device control signal and sending a rolling code based accessory command signal to a target accessory device; receiving a rolling code based accessory device control signal and sending a command signal to an accessory device; and receiving a rolling code based accessory device control signal and sending a rolling code based accessory command signal to a target accessory device. Combinations are possible. An integrated system provides for automatic functioning of one device in response to status changes of one or more other devices.

METHOD FOR DATA COMMUNICATION WITH A DOMESTIC APPLIANCE BY A MOBILE COMPUTER DEVICE, MOBILE COMPUTER DEVICE AND DOMESTIC APPLIANCE

A mobile device for communicating with a smart appliance and the Internet is disclosed. The mobile device includes a sensing element for detecting a current value of an operational features of the smart appliance. A memory including relationships between other values and operational features is provided. A processor is also provided for accessing the memory and comparing the current and other values to determine whether there is a match. If the values do not match, the process generates and sends instructions to the smart appliance to adjust its settings so as to bring the current and other values into alignment. The mobile device is also in communication with the Internet where the mobile device may draw upon online resources to perform or support performing any of the above steps.

Method for data communication with a domestic appliance by a mobile computer device, mobile computer device and domestic appliance

A method for data communication with a domestic appliance by a mobile computer device. The domestic appliance and the mobile computer device are interconnected or interconnectable via a wireless data connection. The wireless data connection is adapted for transferring signals between the domestic appliance and the mobile computer device. Further, the present invention relates to application software for the mobile computer device. Moreover, the present invention relates to a domestic appliance. Additionally, the present invention relates to a mobile computer device including a display or touch screen.

In a pet door system designed to allow a user to control a pet door to manage access inside and outside of a space, a speaker that plays a first phrase in response to a first trigger. The pet door system comprises at least a sensor, a pet door, and a door opener. The sensor detects a pet entering an area about the pet door in response to the first phrase. The door opener opens a pet door when the sensor detects the pet entering the area about the pet door.

Garage door system and method

A universal system and method for controlling existing garage doors via existing garage door openers. The system includes a module operable both manually and automatically to control the existing garage door, Wifi communication circuitry to receive instructions wirelessly from a remote, circuitry for automatic and remote control of the garage door and circuitry for pushing garage door status information.

BUILDING NETWORK

A tintable window is described having a tintable coating, e.g., an electrochromic device coating, for regulating light transmitted through the window. In some embodiments, the window has a transparent display in the window's viewable region. Transparent displays may be substantially transparent when not in use, or when the window is viewed in a direction facing away from the transparent display. Windows may have sensors for receiving user commands and/or for monitoring environmental conditions. Transparent displays can display graphical user interfaces to, e.g., control window functions. Windows, as described herein, offer an alternative display to conventional projectors, TVs, and monitors. Windows may also be configured to receive, transmit, or block wireless communications from passing through the window. A window control system may share computational resources between controllers (e.g., at different windows). In some cases, the computational resources of the window control system are utilized by other building systems and devices.

CONTROL METHOD, MOTORISED DRIVE DEVICE, HOME AUTOMATION INSTALLATION COMPRISING SUCH A MOTORISED DRIVE DEVICE
20220163938 · 2022-05-26 ·

A method for controlling a motorised drive device including an actuator coupled to a mechanical load includes steps of: a) detecting a loss of electrical power; b) subsequent to detecting a loss of power, transferring at least a portion of the energy stored in a first capacitor connected to the input of a voltage regulator of the drive device to a second capacitor connected to the output of the voltage regulator; c) determining, during a first time period following the loss of power, whether the load has moved; d) when power is restored, controlling the movement of the load into a predefined reference position if mechanical load movement has been determined, or otherwise maintaining the load in its current position.
