SURGICAL DEVICE WITH TRIGGER OPERATED NEEDLE
An exemplary surgical device includes a handle including a bore, and a trigger configured to advance or retract a needle through the bore of the handle. The trigger is configured to rotate about a pivot axis and is further configured to slide in distal and proximal directions. The device may be operated using one hand, and permits a user, such as a surgeon, to advance a needle through the device using intuitive, relatively easy thumb movements. While the device may be used in other techniques, it is particularly useful in meniscal repairs, including inside-out meniscal repairs.
Prosthetic incision device and methods thereof
A modular surgical apparatus is disclosed. Also disclosed is a modular incision apparatus. The modular incision apparatus may be used in a minimally invasive surgery. The modular incision apparatus includes a base having a pair of pivots, a pair of alignment tabs, a proximal opening, and at least one slide guide. The modular incision apparatus includes visual and cleaning access to the blade. The modular incision apparatus is suitable for safely, efficiently, and accurately making small incisions during surgical procedures. The modular incision apparatus provides a means of making small incisions of controlled depth, while reducing the chances of inadvertent exposure of surgical staff to sharp instrument.
WOUND CLOSURE SYSTEM
A wound closure system and a method of reducing the size of an open wound are disclosed. A suture line is sutured through body tissue adjacent an open wound, the suture line sutured so as to pass into the body tissue at an entry point and exit at an exit point, the suture line including a plurality of barbs extending outwardly at an acute angle with respect to a surface of the suture line. A biasing member applies a continuous pulling force on the suture line for stretching the body tissue toward the open wound, wherein the biasing member is configured to take up any slack of the suture line during stretching of the body tissue and keep the suture line taut.
Knotless suture, and kit containing same
The present invention relates to a suture which is firmly maintained and fixed to an operation site to stably sustain suturing or lifting effects for a long time. More specifically, the present invention provides a suture having a conic or pyramidal shape with a cut top, wherein a suture supporter comprising a communication hole penetrating the both ends is provided at one end. The suture support can have one or more portions which are cut vertically from a lower end at a lower end portion having a larger diameter between the both ends, or a part of the lower end can be removed so as to form one or more gaps formed from the end at a wall of the end portion.
STERNAL CLOSURE SYSTEM
A system including a bone punch tool and a needle guide. The bone punch tool can include a support arm having a support arm proximal portion and a support arm distal portion, a pivot arm having a pivot arm proximal portion and a pivot arm distal portion, and an arcuate punch configured to punch through bone. The pivot arm distal portion can be pivotably coupled to the support arm distal portion, such that the pivot arm proximal portion is configured to be moved away from the support arm proximal portion to extend the arcuate punch into a punch position to punch an arcuate hole through bone. The needle guide can be configured to guide a needle through the arcuate hole.
TISSUE ANCHOR ASSEMBLY WITH AN ADJUSTMENT BUTTON
A tissue anchor assembly comprises a tissue anchor; a suture; and an adjustment button coupled with the suture. The adjustment button is adapted to adjust tension relative in the suture. When tension is applied to a second suture section trailing away from the tissue anchor, the adjustment button is engaged with the second suture section through locking splines and the adjustment button slides along a portion of the suture to increase a distance between the adjustment button and the tissue anchor. When tension is applied to a first suture section trailing away from the tissue anchor, the adjustment button moves in a direction towards the tissue anchor to reduce a distance between the adjustment button and the tissue anchor.
Biological Chord Repair System and Methods
An embodiment includes a chordal replacement system comprising: a pledget coupled to a first suture length and at least one of a first needle and a first ferrule; a second suture length coupled to the pledget and at least a second needle; and a third suture length coupled to the pledget and at least a third needle; wherein the second and third suture lengths are not monolithic with each other and do not constitute a single suture. Other embodiments are described herein.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FORMING A SELF-LOCKING ADJUSTABLE LOOP
An apparatus can include a first flexible member having first and second ends and a first body extending therebetween, where the first body defines a first passage portion. A second flexible member can have first and second ends and a second body extending therebetween, where the second body defines second and third passage portions. The first end of the first flexible member passes into and through the second passage portion such that the first end extends outside of the second passage portion, and the second end of the first flexible member passes into and through the third passage portion such that the second end extends outside of the third passage portion. The first and second ends of the second flexible member pass into and through the first passage portion to form a self-locking adjustable flexible member construct.
Devices and methods for suture placement
A suturing device includes an elongate body, an actuator, and a curved needle holder. The elongate body includes a distal end portion extending along a longitudinal axis. The actuator is operable between a first operating position and a second operating position. The curved needle holder extends away from the distal end portion or is provided as part of the distal end portion of the elongate body. The curved needle holder includes a distal end section having a distal-most tip, and defines a curved needle passage and a distal opening adjacent the distal-most tip. A distance measured parallel with the longitudinal axis between where the curved needle holder begins to curve away from the longitudinal axis to either where the elongate body begins to curve away from the longitudinal axis or where the elongate body connects with a handle can be between about 10 cm to about 20 cm. Also, the distal-most tip can be offset from the longitudinal axis in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis an offset distance less than about 7 mm.
Laparoscopic device
A laparoscopic device (10) comprising a handle assembly (30) by which the user may hold the laparoscopic device (30); and a tool gripping assembly (60) which holds a tool member (20) is disclosed. The tool gripping assembly (60) comprises a longitudinally extending rod (70) having a longitudinal axis A, a distal end (71) and a proximal end (72) The proximal end (72) is configured to be attached to the handle assembly (30), said distal end (71) is provided with a holding member (73) capable of holding a tool member (20). The tool gripping assembly (60) further comprises a first sleeve (80) partially surrounding and being longitudinally and independently displaceable parallel to the longitudinal axis A along an outer surface of said longitudinally extending rod (70), and a second sleeve (90) partially surrounding and being longitudinally and independently displaceable parallel to the longitudinal axis A along an outer surface of said first sleeve (80). The first and second sleeves (80, 90) are longitudinally displaceable in relation to each other and said longitudinally extending rod (70), and are configured to clamp said tool member (20) to said holding member (73) in a variable angle α in relation to said longitudinal axis A, wherein said variable angle α depends on the relative positions of the first and second sleeves (80, 90) to the longitudinally extending rod (70).
