Surgical device with trigger operated needle
11064995 · 2021-07-20 · ·

An exemplary surgical device includes a handle including a bore, and a trigger configured to advance or retract a needle through the bore of the handle. The trigger is configured to rotate about a pivot axis and is further configured to slide in distal and proximal directions. The device may be operated using one hand, and permits a user, such as a surgeon, to advance a needle through the device using intuitive, relatively easy thumb movements. While the device may be used in other techniques, it is particularly useful in meniscal repairs, including inside-out meniscal repairs.

Method and apparatus for forming a self-locking adjustable loop

An apparatus can include a first flexible member having first and second ends and a first body extending therebetween, where the first body defines a first passage portion. A second flexible member can have first and second ends and a second body extending therebetween, where the second body defines second and third passage portions. The first end of the first flexible member passes into and through the second passage portion such that the first end extends outside of the second passage portion, and the second end of the first flexible member passes into and through the third passage portion such that the second end extends outside of the third passage portion. The first and second ends of the second flexible member pass into and through the first passage portion to form a self-locking adjustable flexible member construct.

Sutures and related medical devices

Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed toward apparatuses, systems, and methods that include a cord that is flexible and elongated defining a length. The cord may include a core having a porous surface and a porosity-reducing element on at least a portion of the core.

A tissue anchor, tissue anchor assembly, and tissue anchor system is disclosed.

Method of Forming a Suture-Button-Graft Combination and Facilitating Construct

A suture and button construct, having an oblong button defining at least a first aperture and a second aperture; a suture length, including a braid defining a lumen and having a middle section and two end sections, each extending through a button aperture and both terminating in an end. Both ends have a needle attached. Also, two shuttles are engaged to the suture length, each having a free end and a loop end, terminating in a loop. Each shuttle enters the lumen in the middle section and extend through an aperture, while in the lumen and exit on the opposite button side from the middle section, so that both shuttle loops are available outside the lumen, to pull a suture end through the lumen and a button aperture.

Drug-eluting self-retaining sutures and methods relating thereto

A drug-eluting self-retaining suture comprises a filament, a plurality of retainers, and a drug impregnated in or coated on the filament. The shape and distribution of retainers modifies the in vivo release kinetics of the drug. The drug release kinetics may be modified uniformly or region by region. The self-retaining suture may for example be used for reattaching severed nerves and release nerve growth factor or other regeneration accelerating agents into the region of the nerve injury.

Wound closure system

A wound closure system and a method of reducing the size of an open wound are disclosed. A suture line is sutured through body tissue adjacent an open wound, the suture line sutured so as to pass into the body tissue at an entry point and exit at an exit point, the suture line including a plurality of barbs extending outwardly at an acute angle with respect to a surface of the suture line. A biasing member applies a continuous pulling force on the suture line for stretching the body tissue toward the open wound, wherein the biasing member is configured to take up any slack of the suture line during stretching of the body tissue and keep the suture line taut.

Biological chord repair system and methods

An embodiment includes a chordal replacement system comprising: a pledget coupled to a first suture length and at least one of a first needle and a first ferrule; a second suture length coupled to the pledget and at least a second needle; and a third suture length coupled to the pledget and at least a third needle; wherein the second and third suture lengths are not monolithic with each other and do not constitute a single suture. Other embodiments are described herein.

TENODESIS FIXATION DEVICE

A surgical fixation device and driver for fixing soft tissue in a desired position relative to bone. The fixation device includes a pronged upper portion having two arms extending proximally therefrom to a top surface of the upper portion. Each of the two arms has a side and the sides are opposing sides. The fixation device also includes a flange extending outwardly around each of the opposing sides. The fixation device additionally has a pronged lower portion having two legs extending distally therefrom with a space between the two legs. The upper portion of the fixation device is configured to attach to a surgical driver. The surgical driver has a handle with a body and a shaft extending distally therefrom. A driver interface at a distal end of the shaft is configured for attachment to the fixation device. The driver additionally includes a rotatable adjustment mechanism within the body.

DUAL NEEDLE SET HAVING SINGLE OR MULTIPLE GOLD THREADS FOR HAIR LOSS TREATMENT
20210100551 · 2021-04-08 ·

A dual needle set for hair loss treatment includes a thread configured with a plurality of strands and having a single or multiple gold threads, a first lone needle in which an end of the suture thread is inserted, and a second short needle in which the other end of the suture thread is inserted more easily to the same implanting hole of pre-implanted gold threads for tying or fixing. A needle part is formed at an end of the first and second needles, an installation groove is formed with a predetermined depth at the other end of the first and second needles so that the suture thread can be inserted, and the first and second needles include individually a bent part formed with a predetermined angle.
