METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND DEVICES FOR INSTABILITY REPAIR
20190274695 · 2019-09-12 ·

Various exemplary methods, systems, and devices for instability repair are provided. In general, a surgical device can be configured to drill a hole in bone and to deliver a suture anchor into the hole. In this way, a single surgical device can drill the hole and deliver the anchor into the hole for securing soft tissue to the bone. The anchor can be configured to allow the soft tissue to be secured to the bone using a suture coupled to a suture anchor without the need to knot or otherwise tie the suture to secure the soft tissue in place relative to the bone.

A suturing device includes a needle, a suture, an elongate body, an actuator and a curved needle holder. The needle has first end, which is pointed, a second end, a curved distal section and a straighter proximal section, which is straight or has a radius of curvature greater than the curved distal section. The suture connects with the needle. The actuator includes a mechanism operable to move the needle with respect to the elongate body. The curved needle holder extends away from a distal end portion or is provided as part of the distal end portion of the elongate body. The curved needle holder includes an inner surface defining a curved needle passage for holding the needle and a distal opening through which the needle exits the curved needle holder. The needle frictionally engages the inner surface when the needle is in a retracted position.

A modular surgical apparatus is disclosed. Also disclosed is a modular incision apparatus. The modular incision apparatus may be used in a minimally invasive surgery. The modular incision apparatus includes a base having a pair of pivots, a pair of alignment tabs, a proximal opening, and at least one slide guide. The modular incision apparatus includes visual and cleaning access to the blade. The modular incision apparatus is suitable for safely, efficiently, and accurately making small incisions during surgical procedures. The modular incision apparatus provides a means of making small incisions of controlled depth, while reducing the chances of inadvertent exposure of surgical staff to sharp instrument.

Devices and methods for delivery of attachment devices

In a generic aspect, an apparatus for delivering attachment devices includes a needle defining a lumen and a distal opening, and a plurality of attachment devices disposed within the lumen of the needle. Each attachment device includes a first attachment part, a second attachment part, and a connecting member coupled to the first attachment part and the second attachment part. The apparatus further includes an actuator configured to drive each attachment device out of the distal opening of the needle during a surgical procedure.

Twist Needle Passer Closure Device

A tissue closure device includes a needle and a suture extending therefrom, a proximal head including a proximal slot and a proximal locking mechanism for releasably engaging a first end of the needle in the proximal slot in a first configuration, and a distal head movably coupled to the proximal head so that the proximal and distal heads are movable relative to one another between an open configuration, in which a target tissue is received therebetween, and a closed configuration, in which the target tissue gripped therebetween. The distal head includes a distal slot and a distal locking mechanism for releasably engaging a second end of the needle in the distal slot in a second configuration, the needle movable between the first and second configurations by rotating the needle, the needle alternatingly passed between the proximal and distal heads to thread the suture through the target tissue.

A flexible portal cannula for use in arthroscopic surgery. Distally positioned flaps extend radially outwardly from the outer surface of the cannula and are resiliently foldable to lie against the outer surface of the cannula during insertion into a surgical portal, and resiliently biased to return to the radially outwardly extending position when unconstrained. Slots disposed around the perimeter of the flaps for anchoring and sorting sutures.

NEEDLE HARVESTING DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A method of removing needles operatively associated with suture through tissue surrounding an access tract, the method comprising advancing an elongate distal member along the access tract, locating an elongate proximal member in contact with tissue surrounding the puncture site, the elongate proximal member comprising a guide disposed within the elongate proximal member, a perimeter of the guide forming a plurality of needle receiving gaps that are circumferentially spaced about a needle deployment actuator with a portion of the guide disposed between adjacent needle receiving gaps extending outwardly towards a wall of the lumen of the elongate proximal member, the needle deployment actuator extending to the elongate distal member and being configured to initiate proximal movement of a needle toward an opening of the elongate proximal member, and actuating the needle deployment actuator to move the needle toward the opening of the elongate proximal member.

A suture management member including a body being elongate in a first direction and having a suture-receiving recess in a second direction transverse to the first direction. The suture-receiving recess extends partially through the body and separates the body into a first portion and a second portion. The first portion is being biased towards the second portion to securely retaining a suture within the suture-receiving recess.
