Flexible anchor delivery system
An assembly includes a flexible fixation member, a suture, and a delivery device. The fixation member includes a body with two terminal ends. A suture passes through the flexible fixation member at various points along a length of the body such that portions of the fixation member are slidable relative to the suture and configurable to form a cluster within a surgical site. The delivery device includes a tubular member, an elongated inserter, and a trigger. The elongated inserter is slidably disposed within the tubular member. The inserter has a forked distal end configured to receive a portion of the flexible fixation member and the suture. The trigger is finger-engagable and fixedly coupled to the proximal end of the inserter. It is configured to advance and retract the inserter relative to the tubular member. The trigger includes a retention member for retaining a proximal end portion of the suture.
Surgical power drill including a measuring unit suitable for bone screw length determination
A device (25) for drilling holes in bone and configured to determine bone screw length, the device (25) including a surgical power drill (2) comprising: a) a housing (12) and; b) a measuring device (1) releasably attached or fixed to the housing (12), wherein the measuring device (1) is configured to measure the distance (x) covered by the housing (12) in the direction of the longitudinal axis (7) and relative to a surface of an implant (26) or a bone during a drilling process, wherein the measuring device (1) comprises a processing unit (14) to record the distance (x) covered with respect to time; the processing unit (14) comprises one or more differentiators to determine at least the first and second derivatives of the distance (x) covered with respect to time; and the processing unit (14) further comprises a peak detector to analyze one or more peaks occurring in the graph of the highest derivative with respect to time, and wherein the measuring device (1) comprises a laser device or an ultrasound position sensor for displacement assessment.
ORTHOPEDIC SURGICAL GUIDE
A surgical device includes an body extending from a proximal end to a distal end. The distal end of the body defines a notch sized and configured to receive a reamer. A coupling assembly is supported by the body and includes a reamer guide body disposed at the distal end of the body. The reamer guide body configured to move between a first position and a second position in which the reaming guide body extends at least partially across the notch. A locking assembly is supported by the body and is configured to releasably engage the coupling assembly to maintain the reamer guide body in the second position.
Sleeve For Rotary Surgical Instrument
An instrument sleeve is provided for use with a surgical rotary instrument having a tube extending to a distal tube end, and a cutting accessory having a head and a shank extending from the head adapted to be rotatably supported by the tube of the rotary instrument. The instrument sleeve comprises a sleeve body extending between proximal and distal sleeve portions, a first lumen for receiving at least a portion of the tube of the rotary instrument, and a shield extension coupled to the sleeve body. The shield extension extends between proximal and distal shield portions the proximal shield portion engaged with the distal sleeve portion and adapted to minimize tissue wrap about the cutting accessory shank.
Discectomy Instruments and Methods Thereof
Discectomy instruments and methods thereof. The discectomy instrument may include a cutter tip configured to release disc material between adjacent vertebrae. The cutter tip may be pivotable such that the cutter tip is positionable off-axis from an access port. The discectomy instrument may be a powered instrument with a constant velocity joint that acts as a point of articulation as well as drive transfer.
Tracked surgical tool with flexible lumen and exposure control
A tool for surgically removing tissue of a patient includes a body, a flexible rotating shaft that drives a distal cutting tool and is drivingly coupled to a motor supported by bearings in a flexible tubular sheath to allow the shaft to rotate and be shifted longitudinally. Steering cables in the sheath control the flexion of the sheath. A processor controls the operation to ensure that the cutting tool operates within a predetermined resection area, controlling a combination of motor speed, sheath flexion, and shaft retraction to assist surgery in the resection area.
SIGNAL FORWARDING OR TRANSMISSION IN A SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A rolling bearing, in particular a ball bearing, in particular for use in a surgical instrument, which is designed for forwarding or transmitting electrical signals and has for this purpose at least one signal line or signal path integrated in the rolling bearing. A sleeve, in particular for use in a surgical instrument, is designed for forwarding or transmitting electrical signals and has for this purpose at least one signal line or signal path integrated in the sleeve. A surgical instrument, in particular a hand-held milling cutter, includes at least one ball bearing and at least one sleeve, each having a respective method of production.
METHODS OF TREATING A VERTEBRAL BODY
Described herein are various implementations of systems and methods for accessing and modulating tissue (for example, systems and methods for accessing and ablating nerves or other tissue within or surrounding a vertebral body to treat chronic lower back pain). Assessment of vertebral endplate degeneration or defects (e.g., pre-Modic changes) to facilitate identification of treatment sites and protocols are also provided in several embodiments. Several embodiments comprise the use of biomarkers to confirm or otherwise assess ablation, pain relief, efficacy of treatment, etc. Some embodiments include robotic elements for, as an example, facilitating robotically controlled access, navigation, imaging, and/or treatment.
Measurement Module of a Surgical System for Determining Drill Breakthrough
A handheld surgical instrument includes a motor that transmits rotational movement to a drill bit of the handheld surgical instrument. The drill bit extends through a depth measurement module with a depth measurement extension, and a cannula, which extends forward from the drill to measure bore depth. The depth measurement extension is moveably mounted to the drill so as to extend into the rotor bore of the motor. As the drill advances forward, the depth measurement extension remains static. As a result of the advancement of the drill, the rotor extends over the proximal end of the depth measurement extension. A controller is configured to determine a breakthrough time and a breakthrough displacement of the drill bit based on displacement data and derived signals. The controller is further configured to determine a proper length of a screw to be used in a fixation surgical procedure based on the displacement data.
