COMBINED BONE TAP AND RASP
A system and method for providing a surgical instrument having a shaft with a proximal end, a distal end, a longitudinal axis, and a central lumen extending therethrough; and a tapered head at the distal end. The tapered head has a plurality of longitudinal channels, a plurality of threaded sections, and a plurality of lateral lumens. The plurality of longitudinal channels may form a plurality of flutes configured to cut bone, tissue, or both.
SURGICAL DEVICE FOR USE IN SPINAL OR MUSCULOSKELETAL SURGERY OR IN SIMULATED SURGERY AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME
A device for use in spinal surgery or musculoskeletal surgery, or in simulated surgery, where the device is non-implantable, includes a first component having a first end, a second end, and a longitudinal axis extending between the first and second ends, wherein the first end is connectable to a second component in an adjustable manner, and a detection device configured to monitor position changes of the second component relative to the first component and to deliver position data corresponding to the position changes to an evaluation unit that is separate from the device. At least part of the detection device at or near the first end of the first component is movable laterally away from the longitudinal axis to monitor movement of at least part of the second component away from the longitudinal axis.
DRILLING DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
Devices, systems, and methods for drilling an anatomical element are provided. A drill bit may comprise a coaxial hollow shaft in communication with a plurality of apertures disposed on a surface of the drill bit. A fluid inlet may be in fluid communication with the coaxial hollow shaft via a selectively openable valve. The fluid inlet may be configured to receive pressurized fluid. When the valve is opened, the pressurized fluid may be released into the coaxial hollow shaft, and when at least one of the plurality of apertures is not blocked, the pressurized fluid may be released through the at least one aperture of the plurality of apertures.
MULTIOPTIONAL ACCESS DEVICE
Systems, methods, and devices are disclosed for robotic surgical systems including a robotic arm, the systems comprising an end effector attached to the robotic arm and retaining an access guide, and an initial access tool detachably connected to the access guide, wherein the initial access tool comprises a housing, a shaft extending from the housing coaxially through the access guide, and a distal tip attached to the shaft and protruding from a portion of the access guide distal to the end effector, wherein the housing is adapted to prevent rotation with respect to the access guide. In some embodiments, the access guide is adapted to retain an initial access tool and one or more of a burring tool, a drilling tool, or a tapping tool. In some embodiments, the initial access tool further comprises a step spaced from a distal end of the shaft, a rigid sleeve for placing over the shaft below the step, a spring for placing over the shaft below the step, and at least one detachable tip for engaging the distal end of the shaft, wherein the housing is adapted to prevent rotation with respect to the access guide.
MEDICAL DEVICE FOR CUTTING BONE
A system for cutting a bone of a patient may include a motor; a rotating shaft drivingly coupled to the motor; a support tube positioned around the rotating shaft and supporting the rotating shaft at a plurality of locations; a plurality of steering wires coupled to the support tube; and a bone cutter at a distal end of the rotating shaft.
Surgical cutter instrument with trial
Surgical instruments, systems and methods are described for selecting a size and cutting bone for inserting of an intervertebral disc prosthesis. The surgical instrument includes a combined intervertebral disc prosthesis sizing trial and a slot or channel cutter which is movable with respect to the sizing trial.
Two-dimensional medical image-based spinal surgery planning apparatus and method
Proposed are an apparatus and method for spinal surgery planning, the spinal surgery planning method including: acquiring a two-dimensional (2D) spinal image of a patient through a medical imaging apparatus; calculating a registration relationship between coordinates in an image space and coordinates in a surgical space by registering the image space for the spinal image and the surgical space where spinal surgery is performed on the patient; generating a virtual three-dimensional (3D) figure in the surgical space; projecting the 3D figure onto the spinal image based on the registration relationship; adjusting the 3D figure so that the 3D figure can correspond to a predetermined landmark on the spinal image; and setting an insertion position and insertion path of a spinal prosthesis based on the spinal image and the 3D figure.
Methods for creating a void within a bone
Methods for creating a void within a bone. An elongate member is directed into a tube of an access cannula, and a handle is positioned adjacent the access cannula. A working tip and pre-bent elbow are disposed within the tube such that the pre-bent elbow is straightened. The device remains slidable relative to the access cannula. A control assembly is actuated to distally move the shaft relative to the handle. Bone adjacent the tube of the access cannula may resist the working tip from protruding from the access cannula so as to displace the handle of the device proximally, or the handle may be manually maintained adjacent the access cannula. The pre-bent elbow and the working tip are moved beyond the distal end of the tube to be freed from the constraint of the tube of the access cannula to assume a curve within the bone.
BONE FUSION SYSTEM
A bone fusion system including a collection vessel, an abrading and harvesting device, tubing and a probe. The abrading and harvesting device includes a needle portion and a sharpened tip. The needle portion has a central bore extending therethrough. The needle portion has a distal end. The sharpened tip is attached to the distal end of the needle portion. The tubing is operably connecting the collection vessel and the abrading and harvesting device. The probe has a threaded portion and a tip portion at a distal end of the threaded portion. The threaded portion has a thread on an outer surface thereof. The tip portion is unsharpened and does not have a thread on an outer surface thereof. The probe is extendible through the central bore.
Surgical Fastener Combination
A surgical fastener combination for use in posterior surgeries requiring require fusion between the occiput and pelvis. Among other things, the surgical fastener combination includes first and second cutters.
