Multiple connection drive shaft
Disclosed is a system to engage a plurality of tools. In the system a drive shaft and collet may be assembled to engage and disengage, selectively, a plurality of tools. User selection may allow use of a plurality of tools during a procedure or during a plurality of procedures.
Methods and Devices for Alleviating Disorders Associated with Sinus Cavities
Generally, abnormal pressures in the sinus cavity can have physiological effects due to stimulation or injury of various nerves that are in proximity to the sinus, including increased or decreased pressure on the nerves as well as extrusion of the nerves into the sinus cavities due to bony dehiscence. Methods and devices for alleviating disorders associated with the sinus cavities are described. Embodiments herein include diagnosing these disorders by occluding or restricting the sinus ostium and assessing the physiological effects caused by the occlusion/restriction and treating these disorders by navigating/directing a dilating device to the sinus ostium and dilating the sinus ostium. Other embodiments are directed to devices for maintaining the ostial opening.
Novel Instrument for removal of Dorsal Nasal Hump
A surgical device for removal of dorsal nasal hump, comprising: a handle (1) 30 mm broad, 100 mm long and 10 mm thick; connected to a rounded neck (2), 40 mm long and 5 mm thick; a working end (3), 8 mm broad, positioned at the distal part of a handle (1) where a working end (3) is semicircular from top and flat on the under surface. Under surface of a working end (3) contains two parts: a wrasping part (3A) 30 mm thick, tapered and blunt at tip and a cutting part (3B), 30 mm thick where the cutting part is positioned between a neck (2) and a wrasping part (3A). The cutting part (3B) comprises a collecting chamber (3B1), 10 mm long, 6 mm wide and 3 mm deep and a sharp blade (3B2), 6 mm wide positioned at proximal edge of collecting chamber. A metallic lid (3B3), 20 mm long and 7 mm wide disposed longitudinally where a knob (2A) positioned on the metallic lid (3B3), slides the metallic lid back and forth to cover and uncover the blade simultaneously.
SURGICAL INTRODUCER WITH TISSUE TREATMENT WINDOW
A system is disclosed for performing a surgical procedure on a patient. The osteotomy system includes an elongated introducer defining a lumen and including a window formed in an outer wall thereof that is in communication with the lumen. At least one medical instrument is configured for insertion into the patient through the elongated introducer such that the at least one medical instrument is positionable within the window. The window is configured to receive target tissue such that the target tissue extends into the lumen, whereby the elongated introducer shields collateral tissue from the at least one medical instrument to reduce any unintended effect on the collateral tissue during the surgical procedure.
Shaver with blood vessel and nerve monitoring features
A surgical instrument for cutting a first tissue and detecting a second tissue includes a shaft, a cutting member, and a tissue monitor system. The shaft extends along a longitudinal axis and includes a shaft lumen and a shaft opening. The cutting member is disposed within the shaft lumen and configured to cyclically move from a first position to a second position relative to the shaft. The cutting member is further configured to cut a tissue portion of the first tissue for removal therefrom. The tissue monitor system is associated with at least one of the shaft or the cutting member configured to detect the second tissue distinct from the first tissue for selectively cutting and removing the first tissue relative to the second tissue.
Osteotomy surgical instrument
An attainment with an osteotomy surgical instrument for the nasal osteotomy is described; it is set up of at least a couple of lever arms and a couple of sharp spouts that are mutually hinged at least in a rotation fulcrum, where said sharp spouts show an active portion with the cross sectional having a sharp angle, in which the sharp angles of the two sharp spouts are opposed and said active portion extends for a length greater than 30 mm and shorter than 45 mm.
HANDHELD SURGICAL INSTRUMENT WITH HEAT MANAGEMENT
A handpiece for a handheld surgical instrument having a motor and a heatsink is provided. The motor is within a motor housing and the heat sink is disposed around and thermally coupled with the motor housing. The handpiece is formed from a material having a first thermal conductivity and the heat sink has a second thermal conductivity that is greater in value than the first thermal conductivity of the material of the handpiece. The heat sink is configured to dissipate heat from the motor during operation of the motor to the handpiece.
DISPOSABLE BURR ATTACHMENT
A burr attachment designed for use with a curved burr attachment or other chuck attachments that includes a tube with a wire shaft supported therein and a coil spring surrounding said wire shaft and having each of the coils touch the outer periphery surface of the wire shaft and the inner peripheral surface of said tube to enhance cooling of said outer periphery of said tube from the heat generated by said wire shaft and attenuate vibrations while allowing said burr attachment to be bent without kinking.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR TISSUE REDUCTION
Apparatus and methods for tissue reduction are described where one embodiment of the tissue resection device may generally comprise an external clamping mechanism having at least two distally extending members shaped with an atraumatic distal end and defining a confined region between the distally extending members sized to receive a tissue region therebetween. Additionally, an elongate coring needle defining a lumen and having a proximal end attached to a handle and a distal end which defines a cutting mechanism may also be included, wherein the coring needle is translatable adjacent and/or relative to the external or internal clamping mechanism defined by the confined region.
Surgical milling cutter
A surgical milling cutter designed to remove bone and/or cartilage tissue includes a shaft which extends along a longitudinal axis, can rotate about same, and can be releasably connected to a drive device and which has a proximal end that can be rotationally fixed to a drive unit and a distal end lying opposite the proximal end. A milling surface circumferentially surrounds the shaft (2) and extends on the distal end along the longitudinal axis of the shaft. The milling surface protrudes radially from the shaft and has a milling surface maximum radius. The surgical milling cutter prevents unwanted damage to delicate body structures via an atraumatic design having a protective assembly provided on the distal end. The protective assembly has a distal support surface and a protective assembly maximum radius in order to form a protective ring which surrounds the milling surface maximum radius in a circular manner.
