Osteotomy guide and method
Improved surgical instruments are provided including improved suture passers, improved drill guides for forming holes in bones adjacent a joint at locations referenced to the joint anatomy, and improved osteotomy guides.
SYSTEM, DEVICES AND METHODS FOR ANATOMICALLY CORRECT RECONSTRUCTION OF LIGAMENTS
A method, system and devices for the reconstruction of ribbon shaped ligaments following the anatomical native insertion sites of the ligaments in the corresponding bones is described. The reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament of the human knee is depicted. The system includes means for positioning and creating bone-tunnels, the preparation of grafts and the fixation thereof. The devices intended for bone tunnel creation take into account the ribbon-shaped nature of the ligament and can be adjusted to patient specific anatomy and take into consideration the various typologies of the ligament insertion sites. The method and devices for graft preparation are construed to reflect the anatomy of ligaments under consideration as close as possible to native ligaments by imitating the ribbon-like nature of native ligaments. The presented fixation methods follow this principle and are intended to support the ribbon-like nature of the grafts and are intended to support in-growth of the grafts. Furthermore, accessories supporting preparation of the grafts are presented.
Distal Biceps Tendon Repair Device
A distal biceps tendon repair device is disclosed. The device allows for anatomically correct biceps tendon repair using a single incision anterior approach without the risk associated with a double incision posterior approach. The distal biceps tendon repair device eliminates the necessity of cutting supinator muscle and greatly reduces the risk of contact or damage to vital structures such as arteries or nerves. The device has a bone drill guide mechanically coupled to a cannulated bone hook. A retrieval wire passes through the cannulated bone hook to grasp a suture or suture guide that has passed through a cannulated drill bit retained by the bone drill guide, the retrieval wore brings the suture through the cannulated hone hook, thus bringing the suture through and around the hone for subsequent anatomically correct attachment and placement of sutures used to reattach the distal biceps tendon to the bone.
Flexible Acl Instrumentation, Kit And Method
In a first embodiment, the present invention includes an instrumentation system for preparing a bone for soft tissue repair, the instrumentation system including a flexible drill pin capable of bending along a curved path; an aimer capable of engaging the flexible pin to bend the flexible pin; and a flexible reamer having a flexible portion along at least a portion of its length, the flexible portion comprising a plurality of laser cuts. In an alternate embodiment, the present invention may also include a method for preparing a bone tunnel in a femur adjacent a knee joint, the method including introducing a flexible drill pin into the knee joint; guiding the flexible drill pin towards a surface of the femur with an instrument introduced into the knee joint; drilling the flexible drill pin into the femur; removing the instrument from the knee joint; introducing a cannulated flexible reamer into the knee joint by placing the flexible pin within the cannulation of the flexible reamer; and reaming the bone tunnel in the femur along the path of the flexible pin.
GUIDING DEVICE AND METHOD OF USING THEREOF
A bone drill guiding device including a drill entry part comprising a cannula having a distal end portion and sized to receive a bone drill, a drill exit part comprising a fixation tip portion and a coupling that rigidly couples the drill entry part and the drill exit part so that longitudinal axes of the cannula distal portion and the fixation tip portion are arranged on a single mutual axis. In some embodiments, the coupling is a linear sliding coupling that parallels the single mutual axis.
Gage for limiting distal travel of drill pin
Devices, systems, and methods are provided for ligament repair procedures, and can be used to establish a location and trajectory for forming a bone tunnel in bone. One exemplary embodiment of a surgical guide for using in a ligament repair procedure includes a guide arm and a carriage that can be selectively locked along the guide arm to define an angle of the bone tunnel. The guide arm also defines a location of a distal end of the bone tunnel. In some embodiments the carriage is configured to have a bullet side-loaded into it, and the bullet can be used to define a location of a proximal end of the bone tunnel. The present disclosure also provides for a gage that limits the distance a drill pin that drills the bone tunnel can travel. A variety of other, devices, systems, and methods are also provided.
SMALL BONE FIXATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A bone fixation system can be used to stabilize two bone portions intended to be fused together. The system include a bone staple or clip that includes a cross bar and two legs. The system can include a plurality of screws or other additional implant(s) configured to be implanted at an angle to the legs of the bone staple on opposite sides of the interface between two bone portions. The system can improve fixation strength and/or stability of the two bone portions. The fixation system can be used, for example, in small bones such as bones in the foot or hand.
Drill pin for fixation of ligaments using button/loop construct
A reconstruction system for ligament employing a button/loop construct with a drill pin. The drill pin has a shaft with a proximal and a distal end. A pin tip provided at the distal end of the shaft has a width greater than the shaft diameter. The pin tip helps cut a wider tunnel for fixation of ligaments/grafts in reconstructive surgeries. The shaft of the drill pin is provided with a laser marks for measurement of intraosseous length.
INDIRECT METHOD OF ARTICULAR TISSUE REPAIR
Methods and devices for the repair of a torn or injured ligament or tendon are provided. The methods include the use of multiple scaffolds, e.g., beads. The multiple scaffolds may be positioned along a suture or other device such that they are moveable with respect to one another or the injured tissue.
PROXIMAL BICEPS TENODESIS WITH BICEPS BUTTON
Methods and drill guide systems that provide internalization of the biceps tendon with use of fixation devices such as the Arthrex BicepsButton or Pectoralis Button tensioned outside a smaller converged drill hole. The technique converges two angled drill holes and use the button to fixate a reinforced (whipstitched) biceps tendon into a single bone versus stabilizing two bones. The biceps tendon is being pulled into the larger of the drilled holes and fixed by the button outside of the smaller drilled hole.
