Surgical drill guide systems and methods of use thereof
Surgical drill guides have modular configurations and are adapted to accommodate a wide range of anatomy. The surgical drill guides are adapted to be removed while leaving a guide wire in its intended location in human bone. The distal end of the drill guide acts as a safety stop for the guide wire by preventing the guide wire from penetrating too far past the far side of the bone.
Coracoid drill guide assembly
A coracoid drill guide assembly includes a body having a cylindrical channel on each side of the body for receiving a drill guide sleeve. The sleeves of the assembly have a 1.4 mm inner diameter to guide a 1.3 mm (or smaller) K-wire through the sleeve. An aimer arm extends from the body at a non-intersecting angle with the drill sleeve. The assembly also has a self-locking ratchet mechanism to lock the sleeve in place once the assembly has been secured to bone.
Systems for soft tissue repair
A tissue repair apparatus includes a housing, a rotatable shaft at least partially disposed within the housing, and first and second curved needles coupled to the shaft. The housing defines a gap between a first edge of the housing and a second edge of the housing, the gap adapted to receive tissue. The first and second needles curved needles being articulable within the housing from a delivery position, at which the first and second needles are spaced from the gap, to a deployed position, at which the first and second needles extend through the gap. Actuation of the shaft simultaneously articulates the first and second needles and the first needle enters the gap before the second needle enters the gap.
SYSTEM, DEVICES AND METHODS FOR ANATOMICALLY CORRECT RECONSTRUCTION OF LIGAMENTS
A method, system and devices for the reconstruction of ribbon shaped ligaments following the anatomical native insertion sites of the ligaments in the corresponding bones is described. The reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament of the human knee is depicted. The system includes means for positioning and creating bone-tunnels, the preparation of grafts and the fixation thereof. The devices intended for bone tunnel creation take into account the ribbon-shaped nature of the ligament and can be adjusted to patient specific anatomy and take into consideration the various typologies of the ligament insertion sites. The method and devices for graft preparation are construed to reflect the anatomy of ligaments under consideration as close as possible to native ligaments by imitating the ribbon-like nature of native ligaments. The presented fixation methods follow this principle and are intended to support the ribbon-like nature of the grafts and are intended to support in-growth of the grafts. Furthermore, accessories supporting preparation of the grafts are presented.
Drill guide assembly
A drill guide assembly for accurate and stable drilling of a bone tunnel. The drill guide assembly includes a guide body having first and second ends, and a slot extending from the first end toward the second end. The drill guide assembly also includes a curved guide arm having a first arm connected at an angle to a second arm. The first arm terminates in a distal tip. The second arm has first and second sides, and is slidable within the slot of the guide body. The second arm also includes detents along its second side. A locking mechanism is attached at the first end of the guide body and in a first position, and the locking mechanism is engaged with one of the detents. The drill guide assembly also includes a clamp mechanism attached at the second end of the guide body and a guide sleeve removably extending therethrough.
Tension to compression tendon fixation
A surgical kit for tendon fixation on a bone comprises a working end for passing suture through a bone tunnel and a cannulated device for housing the suture within a channel to provide a dynamic suture fixation that yields a compressive force on the bone over the tendon fixation region.
GUIDING DEVICE AND BONE-TUNNEL FORMING METHOD
A guiding device can include a guide including a through hole for insertion of an ultrasound probe that forms a tunnel to a bone. The guide can be configured to guide movement of the ultrasound probe inserted through the through hole; an offset portion offset from an axis of the through hole. The guiding device can also include an offset portion with an abutment portion configured to abut to an outer wall of the bone, on a side on which the through hole is located, in a direction orthogonal to the axis and a bone-tunnel introduction portion provided on an opposite side to the side on which the through hole is located and being configured to be inserted into the tunnel. The bone-tunnel introduction portion can have a sectional polygon shape smaller than a polygon on an inner circumferential face of the through hole.
Gage for limiting distal travel of drill pin
Devices, systems, and methods are provided for ligament repair procedures, and can be used to establish a location and trajectory for forming a bone tunnel in bone. One exemplary embodiment of a surgical guide for using in a ligament repair procedure includes a guide arm and a carriage that can be selectively locked along the guide arm to define an angle of the bone tunnel. The guide arm also defines a location of a distal end of the bone tunnel. In some embodiments the carriage is configured to have a bullet side-loaded into it, and the bullet can be used to define a location of a proximal end of the bone tunnel. The present disclosure also provides for a gage that limits the distance a drill pin that drills the bone tunnel can travel. A variety of other, devices, systems, and methods are also provided.
KIT INCLUDING A GUIDING SYSTEM AND A BONE MATERIAL REMOVAL DEVICE
A kit (4000, 5100) including a guiding system and a cannulated bone material removal device, the bone material removal device (4004, 5200) having a longitudinal shaft (4024, 5202) and comprising on the longitudinal shaft a radially expandable cutting portion (4028, 5208) having a longitudinally-oriented cutting edge (2124), the radial expansion comprising an increase of a cross-sectional diameter of the bone material removal device at the longitudinal position of the expandable cutting portion; and the guiding system including an arcuate element (4008, 5102), a guiding element (4010, 5104) configured to be attached to the arcuate element, and a cannula (4002, 5106), slidably insertable into a portion of the arcuate element; wherein the bone material removal device is axially displaceable within said cannula. The kit can be used in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction.
GUIDING DEVICE AND METHOD OF USING THEREOF
A bone drill guiding device including a drill entry part comprising a cannula having a distal end portion and sized to receive a bone drill, a drill exit part comprising a fixation tip portion and a coupling that rigidly couples the drill entry part and the drill exit part so that longitudinal axes of the cannula distal portion and the fixation tip portion are arranged on a single mutual axis. In some embodiments, the coupling is a linear sliding coupling that parallels the single mutual axis.
