MINIMALLY INVASIVE AUXILIARY TOOL FOR KNEE SURGERY

Various implementations described herein relate to a minimally invasive auxiliary tool for knee surgery. The tool comprises a handle in proximal position, a shaft defining an axis, and a shaped tip in distal position. In the tool: the handle, the shaft, and the shaped tip define a channel that connects the proximal end with the distal end of the tool; and the perimeter of the shaped tip comprises a plurality of sectors, wherein each sector is defined by a respective circular arc centred on the axis and wherein the circular arcs that define the various sectors have respective radii that are different the one from the others. Various implementations also include a kit comprising a tool and a bone reamer.

Single-use plantar plate graft augmentation kit and method of repairing plantar plate tears through graft augmentation

A plantar plate augmentation kit assembly and method of repairing plantar plate tears through augmentation provides an assembly of tools used to augment a plantar plate with a soft tissue graft, and specifically an Artelon Graft. The kit assembly includes a plantar plate drill guide for aligning a drill bit and K-wires over a damaged area of a plantar plate. The assembly also includes a plantar plate joint distractor for separating tissue, at least two K-wires that serve as anchors to the tissue, a drill bit for driving the graft into the tissue. The assembly also includes a graft passer for retaining and manipulating the graft. Further included are at least two interference-type screws and a screw driver for manipulating the interference-type screws. These components are stored in a storage container that includes an outer housing and multiple inner recesses shaped and sized to frictionally fit the tools.

PATIENT-SPECIFIC DEVICES AND METHODS FOR ANATOMIC LIGAMENT RECONSTRUCTION OR REPAIR

Patient-specific devices are formed from electronic image data taken preoperatively from a patient and used to create a 3-D model of the patient's knee joint. The anatomic location of the anatomic insertion points of the ACL, and hence the anatomic location of a bone tunnel for housing a ligament graft, are then identified on the 3-D model. The anatomic location of the ACL footprint is used to create a 3-D-printed template with apertures corresponding to the footprint of the ACL (or its bundles). The template can be attached to a reusable handle of an existing drill guide for drilling the bone tunnel corresponding to the footprint of the ACL. In other examples, the anatomic location of the ACL footprint is registered and mapped onto a real-time computer display of the patient's bone during the ligament reconstruction.

Methods of tissue repair

Methods of tissue repair. At least one example method includes: pulling a tissue in place over a bone location; abutting a distal end of a guide tool against the tissue at a first location, and driving a first bone anchor through a delivery tube of the guide tool, through the tissue, and into the bone at the first location, the first bone anchor coupled to a first suture line; abutting the distal end of the guide tool against the tissue at a second location displaced from the first location, and then driving a second bone anchor through the delivery tube, through the tissue, and into the bone at the second location, the second bone anchor associated with the first suture line; withdrawing the guide tool away from the tissue; and tightening the first suture line to create a first suture over the tissue.

A bone fixation system can be used to stabilize two bone portions intended to be fused together. The system include a bone staple or clip that includes a cross bar and two legs. The system can include a plurality of screws or other additional implant(s) configured to be implanted at an angle to the legs of the bone staple on opposite sides of the interface between two bone portions. The system can improve fixation strength and/or stability of the two bone portions. The fixation system can be used, for example, in small bones such as bones in the foot or hand.

NDICATING POSITION AND LENGTH OF A BONE TUNNEL AND IMPLEMENTATIONS THEREOF

An apparatus for indicating the position and length of a bone tunnel, including a first member configured to couple with a drill guide; and a second member in spaced relation to the first member, the second member comprising an indicator configured to provide an indication of thickness of a boney member with the first member disposed on a first side of the boney member and the second member disposed on a second side of the boney member.

Kit including a guiding system and a bone material removal device

A kit (4000, 5100) including a guiding system and a cannulated bone material removal device, the bone material removal device (4004, 5200) having a longitudinal shaft (4024, 5202) and comprising on the longitudinal shaft a radially expandable cutting portion (4028, 5208) having a longitudinally-oriented cutting edge (2124), the radial expansion comprising an increase of a cross-sectional diameter of the bone material removal device at the longitudinal position of the expandable cutting portion; and the guiding system including an arcuate element (4008, 5102), a guiding element (4010, 5104) configured to be attached to the arcuate element, and a cannula (4002, 5106), slidably insertable into a portion of the arcuate element; wherein the bone material removal device is axially displaceable within said cannula. The kit can be used in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction.
