The device can include an inner expandable body with a framework of struts. The device can include an outer expandable body with a framework of struts that at least partially radially surrounding the inner expandable body. A distal portion of the outer expandable body can extend in the deployed configuration towards the outer expandable body to a greater extent than the inner expandable body, closed cells of the distal portion distally tapering and being smaller than cells proximal thereof in the outer expandable body. The plurality of closed cells of the distal portion can include a pair of axially aligned smaller diamond shaped cells formed by struts of the distal portion and positioned along upper and lower regions of the distal portion.

EMBOLECTOMY DEVICE HAVING MULTIPLE SEMI-TUBULAR CLOT ENGAGING STRUCTURES

An elongate embolectomy device having a radially constrained configuration and a radially expanded configuration, the embolectomy device being formed out of a plurality of elongate clot engaging structures, each clot engaging structure comprising a plurality of interconnected struts forming an open cell pattern, wherein, when the embolectomy device is in the radially expanded configuration, the clot engaging structures each have a semi-tubular arcuate profile, including a convex face and an concave face facing opposite the convex face, extending along a length of the embolectomy device, the clot engaging structures being longitudinally disposed relative to each other such that the concave faces are facing radially outward, and the convex surfaces are facing radially inward, respectively, relative to a longitudinal axis of the embolectomy device.

Method and apparatus for occlusion removal

A system for removing a thrombus. The system includes an expandable device that maintains axially fixed engagement with the thrombus. The expandable device applies a first force to the thrombus according to surrounding vessel size. The expandable device applies a second force to the thrombus according to an increased vessel size to maintain axially fixed engagement.

A mechanical thrombectomy device, and methods of manufacturing and using the mechanical thrombectomy device, are described. The mechanical thrombectomy device includes several clot arrestors independently mounted on a support wire. The clot arrestors have expandable frames that are eccentrically supported on the support wire. The independently and eccentrically mounted clot arrestors are arranged to allow a clot to pass into, and be captured by, one of the expandable frames. Furthermore, the independently and eccentrically mounted clot arrestors deform independently of one another such that retraction of the mechanical thrombectomy device through tortuous vasculature can stretch one clot arrestor without stretching another one of the clot arrestors to allow the clot to be retained by the unstretched clot arrestors. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR REMOVAL OF ACUTE BLOCKAGES FROM BLOOD VESSELS

Manufacturing an expandable body of a clot retrieval device having a first coating of radiopaque material defining a plurality of micro-columns and a second coating, the method including applying the first coating to strut elements, removing at least a portion of the first coating from at least one area of the strut elements, and cutting away regions of both the first coating and the strut elements to form an interconnected pattern of coated and uncoated regions.

Devices for removing clot material from a blood vessel lumen and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. A clot retrieving device may include, for example, an elongated shaft, a capture structure, a cover, and a connector coupled to the elongated shaft proximal of the capture structure. The connector may include an inner band and an outer band, wherein (a) the inner band at least partially surrounds a portion of the distal zone of the elongated shaft, (b) the outer band at least partially surrounds the inner band, and (c) the first portion of the cover is secured between the inner band and the outer band.

Retrieval of material from corporeal lumens

Retrieval of material from vessel lumens can be improved by use of a distal element comprising an expandable mesh. a treatment device includes an elongated member having a proximal portion and a distal portion configured to be positioned within a blood vessel at a treatment site at or near a thrombus. A distal element comprising an expandable mesh is coupled to the distal portion of the elongated member via a connection assembly. In an expanded state, at least a portion of the mesh is configured to be in apposition with the blood vessel wall at the treatment site to anchor or stabilize the elongated member with respect to the blood vessel. The distal element can be electrically coupled to an extracorporeal current generator.

Designs are disclosed for devices capable of removing both firm and soft clots from body vessels that can have dual layers where an inner expandable body of cells runs within an outer expandable cage of cells. The designs can feature a constrained delivery configuration and an expanded deployed configuration. An outer cage can have wide opening struts to allow for clot integration into the device. Both the inner body and outer cage can be configured with shapes to pinch a clot in addition to embedding in it. The devices can also be capable of having a portion of the outer cage fold and invert proximally after engaging with a target clot to internalize it. These factors can increase the device's ability to capture clots of all compositions, allowing for safer and more efficient flow restoration.

Retrieval of material from vessel lumens can be improved by electrically enhancing attachment of the material to the thrombectomy system. The system can an interventional element configured to be delivered to a treatment site and to be electrically coupled to an extracorporeal power supply. The interventional element can be surface treated (e.g., via electrochemical anodization) to achieve a desired electrical conductivity gradient over the surface of the interventional element. The electrical conductivity gradient can result in a more desirable surface charge distribution upon delivery of electrical current to the interventional element.
