A medical device may include an outer assembly having a first shaft, a first lumen extending through the first shaft, and an atraumatic first tip removably coupled to a distal end of the first shaft; an inner assembly configured to extend through the first lumen of the outer assembly, the inner assembly including a second shaft, a second lumen extending through the second shaft, and a second tip removably coupled to a distal end of the second shaft, the second tip being configured to pierce tissue; and a plug assembly configured to extend through the second lumen of the inner assembly, the plug assembly including a third shaft and a plug removably coupled to a distal end of the third shaft.
Device and method for transseptal puncture
The present invention provides transseptal puncture devices configured to access structures on the left side of the heart from the right side of the heart without requiring open-heart surgery. The devices have adjustable stiffness to enter the vasculature in a flexible, atraumatic fashion, then become rigid once in place to provide a stable platform for penetration of the fossa ovalis. The devices are further configured to controllably and stably extend a needle to puncture the FO. The devices include an indwelling blunt stylus that can extend perpendicularly from the device to increase the accuracy of placement near the fossa ovalis.
EYEBALL ATTACHMENT TUBE
Provided is an eyeball attachment tube that is temporarily attached to an outer membrane of an eyeball in ophthalmic surgery for communication between the inside and the outside of the eyeball such that the eyeball attachment tube is inhibited from becoming unstable when attached in a direction deviating from a direction perpendicular to the external surface of the eyeball.
An eyeball attachment tube includes: a tubular portion configured to be in a state of puncturing an outer membrane when the eyeball attachment tube is attached to the outer membrane; and a large diameter portion which is disposed on a proximal end side of the tubular portion. An end portion of the large diameter portion on the tubular portion side is formed as a plane inclined relative to a center axis of the tubular portion.
TISSUE TYPE DETECTING MEDICAL DEVICES
In various embodiments, a medical device comprises a trocar including an awl and a cannula; two or more electrodes disposed on a distal portion of the trocar; an impedance bridge coupled to the two or more electrodes; and a processor coupled to the impedance bridge. In various embodiments, a computer-implemented method for evaluating tissue of a patient comprises recording, at one or more frequencies, one or more impedance measurements, wherein each impedance measurement is associated with two or more electrodes disposed on a distal portion of a trocar; comparing the one or more impedance measurements to one or more characteristic impedances associated with one or more tissue types; and determining, based on the one or more impedance measurements and the one or more characteristic impedances, one or more tissue types at a location associated with the distal portion of the trocar.
Medical implant delivery system and related methods
An implant delivery device for introducing and positioning implants within patients may include a sheath member having a distal end, a proximal end, and a central longitudinal axis, the sheath member defining a lumen along the central longitudinal axis. The implant delivery device may additionally include an implant delivery shaft having a distal end and a proximal end, the implant delivery shaft disposed at least partially within the sheath member and an implant spreader assembly disposed at the distal end of the implant delivery shaft. In some embodiments, the implant delivery device may further include a cap disposed at the distal end of the sheath member, the cap obstructing at least a portion of an opening into the lumen of the sheath member.
Graft preparation and delivery instruments and method
Embodiments of the invention include instruments (100, 200, 400, 1100, 1400, 2100, 2400, 3400) and methods useful in delivering graft material (1) to a surgical site. Some embodiments may particularly be directed to forming a graft (1) and accurately and effectively handling and delivering the graft (1) to a surgical site arthroscopically. Graft material (1) may include blood components such as clotted fibrin derived from a patient's or a donor's blood.
Biopsy device with selectable tissue receiving aperature orientation and site illumination
A biopsy device includes a disposable elongated probe component having a coaxial arrangement of an elongated tubular section and an elongated tissue cutting member, and having a coaxial arrangement of a first driven gear, a second driven gear, and a third driven gear. The first driven gear is configured to rotate the elongated tubular section. The second driven gear is configured to rotate to longitudinally move the elongated tissue cutting member. The third driven gear is configured to rotate or oscillate the elongated tissue cutting member. A driver component has a coaxial arrangement of a first drive gear, a second drive gear, and a third drive gear. The first drive gear is drivably engaged with the first driven gear. The second drive gear is drivably engaged with the second driven gear. The third drive gear is drivably engaged with the third driven gear.
Surgical port feature
A surgical port feature may include a funnel portion, a tongue, a waist portion, and surgical instrument channels. The waist portion may be located between the funnel portion and the tongue. The surgical instrument channels may extend from the funnel portion through the waist portion. The surgical port feature may further include a second tongue, with the wait portion being located between the funnel portion, the tongue, and the second tongue.
Bone material delivery system
A device for delivering a bone material to a surgical site is provided. The device comprises a body having an upper portion and a lower portion. The lower portion of the body is substantially transverse to the upper portion and has an opening for receiving a bone material. An internal chamber is disposed within the upper portion and the lower portion, and a plunger is slidably disposed in at least the internal chamber of the body. The plunger has a distal end configured for delivering the bone material out of the lower portion of the body, wherein movement of the plunger in a first position toward the lower portion of the body delivers the bone material from the lower portion of the body to the surgical site. Methods of delivering the bone material are also provided.
MEDICAL IMPLANT DELIVERY SYSTEM AND RELATED METHODS
