SURGICAL ACCESS DEVICE
Various devices are provided for allowing multiple surgical instruments to be inserted through a single surgical access device at variable angles of insertion, allowing for ease of manipulation within a patient's body while maintaining insufflation. Safety shields and release mechanisms are also provided for use with various surgical access devices.
SEALING MULTIPLE SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS
In accordance with aspects of the present invention, a door mechanism is provided. A door mechanism according to some embodiments of the present invention includes a door that includes a sealing part, an arm connected to the sealing part, and a pivot part connected to the arm, the door rotating around a pivot axis at the pivot part; and a lever, the lever engaging the door at the pivot part such that the lever opens the door when engaged but is not affected when the door is opened without the lever.
SURGICAL ACCESS SYSTEMS
A system for performing a medical procedure at a target location of a patient, including: an articulating probe including at least a distal portion; a feeder configured to advance, retract, and steer the articulating probe; a first introducer attached to the feeder and configured to slidingly receive the articulating probe; and a second introducer for providing access to an internal location of the patient. The first introducer operably attaches to the second introducer, such that the articulating probe can be advanced through the second introducer to the target location. The system further includes at least one sealing element configured to maintain insufflation pressure at the target location.
APPARATUS FOR ACCESSING THE PERICARDIAL SPACE
The present disclosure relates to devices used to access the pericardial space of the heart. In particular, the present disclosure describes an apparatus to enable an operator to access the pericardial space of the heart, and deliver cardiac therapies to the pericardial space, under direct visualization through a single, small incision.
Surgical port features with electrically conductive portions, related devices, and related methods
A surgical port includes a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a longitudinal axis extending through the first end and the second end. An outer sidewall extends between the first end and the second end. First and second channels extend through the port from the first end to the second end. A first electrically conductive portion extends from the first channel to the outer sidewall, and a second electrically conductive portion extends from the second channel to the outer sidewall. The first electrically conductive portion provides a first electrically conductive path between the first channel and the outer sidewall and the second electrically conductive portion provides a second electrically conductive path the second channel and the outer sidewall. The second electrically conductive path is separate from the first electrically conductive path. Devices and methods relate to surgical ports.
Non-morcellating minimally invasive surgical tissue removal system
In the field of minimally invasive or laparoscopic surgery, in there exists several devices for the purposes of removing large tissues from the abdomen through the use of only small holes. All of these devices, to date, to the knowledge of the inventor have involved morcellation, or the breaking apart of these tissues into small pieces. The surgical device, through the use of a unique engulfing sheet or engulfing bag, has the capability of removing a tissue from the abdomen through small minimally invasive or laparoscopic incisions without the use of morcellation. The device relies upon mechanical energy to force a large object through a smaller hole without the necessity to break the object down into smaller pieces.
MULTI LUMEN ACCESS DEVICE
A surgical access device includes a housing, a tubular member extending from the housing, a valve disposed on the housing, and a tip member at a distal end of the tubular member. The housing includes a seal and the tubular member includes a plurality of lumens extending therethrough. The valve is fluidly coupled with a first lumen of the plurality of lumens and the tip member includes a first port that is aligned and fluidly coupled with the first lumen of the plurality of lumens. The first port is configured to direct a fluid towards a predetermined location.
TISSUE REMOVAL CONTAINMENT SYSTEMS
The tissue removal containment system is provided that includes a tissue removal and/or containment bag arranged to be inserted through an opening into a confined space. The bag has a support or ring having a compressed, partially compressed and/or uncompressed state or position. The bag can also include an enclosure or film defining the enclosure connected to the support with the enclosure having a confined state and a deployed or unconfined state.
Endoscopic surgery device
The endoscopic surgery device includes: an outer tube body that penetrates through a body wall to be inserted into a body cavity; an endoscope insertion path provided inside the outer tube body; a treatment tool insertion path provided inside the outer tube body; a position sensor that has a non-sensitive area where no change in a relative position of the treatment tool insertion part with respect to the endoscope insertion part is detected even if the treatment tool insertion part is moved back and forth, and a sensitive area that is an area other than the non-sensitive area, where change in a relative position of the treatment tool insertion part is detected, and that detects its movement amount with respect to the outer tube body; and a control unit that changes a range of an observation image acquired by the endoscope in accordance with the detected movement amount.
