Seal assemblies for surgical access assemblies

Surgical access assemblies include an instrument valve housing and a valve assembly disposed within the cavity of the instrument valve housing. The valve assembly includes a guard assembly, a seal assembly disposed adjacent to the guard assembly, and a centering mechanism for maintaining the seal assembly and guard assembly centered within a cavity of the instrument valve. The seal assembly includes a multi-petal seal member and upper and lower support members. The upper and lower support members sandwich the multi-petal seal member therebetween to reduce and/or eliminate leaks through the multi-petal seal member.

Seal assemblies for surgical access assemblies

Access assemblies includes an instrument valve housing and a valve assembly disposed within the cavity of the instrument valve housing. The valve assembly includes a guard assembly, and a seal assembly disposed distal of the guard assembly. In embodiments, the seal assembly includes a plurality of seal segments in an overlapping configuration. Each seal segment of the plurality of seal segments includes a seal portion having a smooth surface and a ribbed surface. The ribbed surfaces include a central spline extending in a radial direction and plurality of concentric ribs extending outwardly from the central spline.

PERITONEAL TROCAR APPARATUS AND SYSTEM

A trocar for peritoneal dialysis is disclosed herein. An example trocar includes a conduit having two or more parallel lumens and a head connected to a first end of the conduit. The head includes two (or more) parallel lumens that are aligned respectively with the parallel conduit lumens and includes at least one of a gasket or a seal for each lumen. The trocar also includes a coupler connected to the head. The coupler includes two (or more) parallel lumens that are aligned respectively with the parallel lumens of the head. The coupler includes a coupling mechanism for each lumen for securing surgical tools in place after insertion into a patient. The trocar may also include an obturator having a shaft that is removably inserted through the coupler, head, and conduit to protrude from a second end of the conduit.

Guard device for a tissue containment system

Apparatus for placement in an incision or a natural body opening comprises a retractor having a sleeve (655, 656, 657) and a guard device comprising overlapping petals (662) depending from a mounting ring (661). The guard device is movable by the retractor from an insertion configuration to a deployed configuration as the retractor sleeve is moved to the retracting configuration.

Valve assembly with sealing capability for instruments and/or guide wires for use as access/tool port

A valve assembly for instruments and/or guide wires for use as access/tool port includes a cannula attached to a valve housing with a through hole. Elastic valve members are housed in the valve housing for sealing the through hole either when no device is inserted, or when a specific device with a compatible cross section is inserted. A further sealing arrangement is housed in the valve housing. The further sealing arrangement is extendable within the valve housing to selectively reduce the width of the through hole from a non-sealed configuration where one generic device or a group of generic devices, not necessarily having the same size and/or shape, can be inserted into and/or removed from the through hole, to a sealed configuration where the sealing arrangement seals the through hole with the generic device or the group of generic devices inserted into the through hole.

CONVERTIBLE INTRODUCER SHEATH
20220087713 · 2022-03-24 ·

A vascular introducer sheath device comprising a tubular main shaft and a main hub attached to the proximal end of the main shaft. Attached to the proximal end of the main hub is a header hub, which has a first arm and a second arm. The header hub is attached to the main hub in a releasably locked configuration. As such, the header hub is functionally detachable from the main hub. The header hub and the main hub could together have a twist-on or snap-on mating mechanism. An example of such a mating mechanism is a male lock fitting on the header hub and a female lock fitting on the main hub. Further, there could be a side port on the main hub and a side port on the header hub, wherein the side ports for the main hub and header hub are oriented on a same plane when the header hub and the main hub are in locked configuration.

Access Device

Various devices and methods are provided with respect to inserting multiple surgical instruments through a single surgical access device. A medical device including a flexible tissue retractor a releasable insert having multiple instrument openings, and a member such as a sleeve is disclosed. The insert can be in the form of an insert assembly including multiple components. The sleeve can support the insert with respect to the retractor such that the insert and sleeve can be removed together with the retractor remaining in the incision. A method of using the insert is also described.

TROCAR

Provided is a trocar. An end tool mounting member is provided to place an end tool of a surgical instrument thereon, thereby facilitating the insertion of the surgical instrument having multiple joints into the trocar.

TOOLS AND METHODS FOR VAGINAL ACCESS

Trocar components and methods of use are described, wherein the trocar components are configured to provide access to intraperitoneal space via the rectouterine pouch to surgical tools, which optionally include one or more surgical robot members. The surgical tools are optionally 5 mm or more in diameter. In some embodiments, a cannula part has a lumen sized to provide to a plurality of the surgical tools simultaneous transvaginal access to the intraperitoneal space via the rectouterine pouch. In some embodiments, an incision sized to receive a distal aperture of the cannula is created, optionally using one or two dilators. The dilators are sized to create (optionally starting from a puncture by a needle 2 mm in diameter or less) an oblong aperture. In some embodiments, the oblong aperture is at least twice as wide across a long diameter as across a short diameter.

Methods and devices for providing access into a body cavity

Methods and devices are provided for providing surgical access into a body cavity. In one embodiment, a surgical access device is provided that includes a housing coupled to a retractor. The housing can be have one or more movable sealing ports for receiving surgical instruments. Each movable sealing port can include one or more sealing elements therein for sealing the port and/or forming a seal around a surgical instrument disposed therethrough. Each movable sealing port can be rotatable relative to the housing and each sealing element can be rotatable relative to the housing along a predetermined orbital path.
