SURGICAL ROBOTIC ACCESS SYSTEM FOR IRREGULARLY SHAPED ROBOTIC ACTUATORS AND ASSOCIATED ROBOTIC SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS

The surgical robotic access system provides access for robotic instruments and/or actuators including the introduction, operation and withdrawal of such robotic manipulators into a body cavity without permitting the escape of pressurized fluid or gas. The surgical robotic access system also provides a multi-faceted range of movement without touching or effecting pressure on the opening in the patient's body cavity.

Puncture device for creating a TIPS shunt and corresponding methods

The present invention relates to a puncture device for creating a TIPS shunt, comprising a puncture needle, a sheath, the sheath being arranged to surround the puncture needle, the puncture needle being slidably arranged inside the sheath so that the puncture needle can be moved between a first position in which the puncture needle protrudes beyond the distal end of the sheath and a second position where a tip of the puncture needle is retracted into the sheath, the sheath and the puncture needle being arranged so that in the second position, blood can be aspirated into the sheath through a gap between the puncture needle and the sheath, a locking means, the locking means being arranged for releasably locking the puncture needle in the first and/or the second position.

METHOD FOR FORMING ACCESS ROUTE TO BILE DUCT AND TREATMENT METHOD

In a method of forming an access route to the bile duct, a needle is introduced into a duodenum, and the introduced needle is pierced into an oral side projection of a duodenal papilla, which is located at an oral position than an opening of the duodenal papilla. The tip of the pierced needle is made to reach the inside of the bile duct to form a tunnel communicating the duodenum and the bile duct, and a treatment device is inserted into the formed tunnel.

AUTOMATIC ROBOTIC PROCEDURE FOR SKIN CUTTING, TISSUE PATHWAY, AND DILATION CREATION

A robotic surgical system according to at least one embodiment of the present disclosure includes a robot arm including a proximal end and a distal end and a surgical tool that attaches to the distal end of the robot arm via a robot mount flange on the surgical tool. The surgical tool includes a blade support tip that extends from a first end and a rod that extends from a second end opposite the first end. The rod may include a blunt tip end and an actuation end, where the blunt tip end extends from the second end. Accordingly, the surgical tool may be rotatable about a tool rotation axis between a cutting position disposing the blade support tip in proximity to a target site and a tissue pathway creation position disposing the blunt tip end in proximity to the target site.

A safety mechanism is disclosed configured for shielding a distal tip of an elongate medical device. The safety mechanism includes a sheath having a body defining a lumen extending axially and including a shroud extending axially and having one or more sheath apertures disposed therethrough. The safety mechanism further includes a clip, comprising one or more arms, each including a tab, a plate, and a grip, the tab including a keyhole aperture. The first arm and the second arm configured to transition between a first configuration and a second configuration, and an elongate biasing member extending from the first arm to the second arm and configured to bias the first arm and the second arm towards the second configuration. Transitioning from the first configuration to the second configuration disengages the sheath from a needle hub and engages the sheath with a tip of the elongate medical device.

A pericardial puncture device includes an introducer, a needle, and an actuator. The introducer has a lumen and extends between an introducer proximal portion defining an introducer proximal end and an introducer distal portion defining an introducer distal end. The needle is received in the lumen and extends between a needle proximal portion and a needle distal portion having a sharp distal tip. The needle is movable from a retracted configuration to an advanced configuration. In the retracted configuration, the sharp distal tip is within the lumen and shy of the introducer distal end. In the advanced configuration, the sharp distal tip outside of the lumen and proud of the introducer distal end. The actuator includes a handle that is rotatable in a first direction with respect to the introducer to drive movement of the needle from the retracted configuration towards the advanced configuration.
