The electrically conductive coating can include a reaction product of the conductive monomer and the at least one photoreactive component. Other aspects are included herein.
DEVICES AND METHODS WITH MONOPOLAR AND BIPOLAR FUNCTIONALITY
Surgical devices, systems, and methods are provided for applying monopolar energy and bipolar energy to tissue. In one embodiment, a surgical device is provided with an end effector that has first and second jaws movable between an open position and a closed position, and a conductive member that extends through the end effector. The conductive member has a retracted position in which the conductive member is substantially disposed within the end effector and an extended position in which the conductive member extends at least partially distally beyond the end effector. The conductive member is configured to conduct energy through tissue adjacent thereto when the conductive member is in the extended position. A trigger coupled to the handle is pivotally movable to move the conductive member between the retracted and extended positions.

ENGAGEMENT FEATURES AND METHODS FOR ATTACHING A DRIVE ROD TO A KNIFE BLADE IN AN ARTICULATING SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A knife assembly for use with a surgical instrument includes a knife having proximal and distal ends, the proximal end including an aperture defined therein having a series of spaced apart fins extending thereacross. A knife drive rod is included and is configured to operably engage the fins to secure the knife drive rod to the knife. A retention mechanism is operably disposed at a distal end of the knife drive rod and is configured to secure the knife drive rod in engagement between the fins.
REUSABLE MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A reusable tip for minimally invasive surgical instruments can include an end effector, a two-part hub, and a yoke. The end effector can include one or more movable portions enabling the end effector to move between first (e.g., open) and second (e.g., closed) positions via manipulation of the yoke within the hub. The hub can include a proximal hub and a distal hub coupled together. The end effector can be coupled to the distal hub, which can be made of a metal to provide high strength and secure shape to the distal hub. The proximal hub can be made of an autoclavable insulation material capable of maintaining a removable coupling with a control shaft. The proximal hub can be made of polyetheretherketone (PEEK).
REDUCED CAPACITIVELY LEAKAGE CURRENT IN ELECTROSURGICAL INSTRUMENTS
A surgical instrument includes a shaft that includes an elongated tube having distal and proximal end portions. The tube houses an electrical conductor that includes distal and portions and that extends between the proximal and distal end portions of the elongated tube. An end effector at the distal end portion of the elongated tube includes an electrode electrically coupled to the distal portion of the electrical conductor. A switch at the proximal end portion of the shaft is operatively disposed between the distal and proximal portions of the electrical conductor that is configured to electrically couple and decouple the distal and proximal portions of the electrical conductor.
Multiple thermocouple assembly with reduced wire count
A multiple thermocouple assembly with a reduced wire count is configured for use in an ablation catheter tip. In at least one embodiment, the assembly comprises a first metal material comprising a plurality of junctions; a plurality of conductors comprising a second metal material, each conductor connected to the first metal material at one of the plurality of junctions; and a common conductor that is physically paired with at least one of the plurality of conductors at a corresponding common conductor junction such that the common conductor forms a thermocouple pair with each of the plurality of conductors.
