ENDOSCOPIC FULL THICKNESS RESECTION DEVICE
The present disclosure relates generally to devices and methods for full thickness tissue resection of an organ (e.g., intestine). In some embodiments, a device includes a conduit, and a plurality of arms rotatably coupled to the conduit. Each of the plurality of arms is movable between a collapsed position and an expanded position, wherein the plurality of arms extends radially outward from the conduit in the expanded position. The device may further include an electrocautery wire coupled to each of the plurality of arms, the electrocautery wire positioned directly adjacent an exterior tissue wall when the plurality of arms is in the expanded position. The device may be advanced back in towards a lumen of the organ until a targeted section of tissue is cut by the electrocautery wire and removed.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATING TISSUE WITH RADIOFREQUENCY ENERGY
A system for controlling operation of a radiofrequency treatment device to apply radiofrequency energy to tissue to treat tissue to create lesions without ablating the tissue. The system includes a first treatment device having a plurality of electrodes. The electrodes are maintained in axial alignment and fixed radial spacing in retracted and extended positions. The device includes a basket having a plurality of arms. The arms are maintained in a fixed radial spacing in the collapsed position of the basket.
Vapor Based Ablation System for Treating Various Indications
Ablation catheters and systems include multiple inline chambers for containing and heating an ablative agent. The heating chamber includes one or more channels to increase the contact surface area of the ablative agent with the walls of the heating chamber to provide more efficient heating. Induction heating is used to heat a chamber and vaporize a fluid within by wrapping a coil about a ferromagnetic chamber and providing an alternating current to the coil. A magnetic field is created in the area surrounding the chamber which induces electric current flow in the chamber, heating the chamber and vaporizing the fluid inside. Positioning elements help maintain the device in the proper position with respect to the target tissue and also prevent the passage of ablative agent to normal tissues.
Rectal phantom unit and phantom device including the same
An aspect of the present invention provides a rectal phantom unit and a phantom device including the same, including: a holder having a penetration portion formed in a longitudinal direction thereof; a rectal simulant which is inserted to the penetration portion of the holder, includes a plurality of unit plates laminated thereon, and simulates a rectum of a body; and a film which is disposed between the rectal simulant and the holder and measures an absorbed dose of radiation irradiated to the rectal simulant.
DUAL-FUNCTION PLASMA AND NON-IONISING MICROWAVE COAGULATING ELECTROSURGICAL INSTRUMENT AND ELECTROSURGICAL APPARATUS INCORPORATING THE SAME
An electrosurgical device that is capable of both generating a plasma to perform surface coagulation and emitting a non-ionising microwave field (in the absence of plasma) to perform coagulation at a deeper level. The device comprises a probe tip that is connected to receive radiofrequency (RF) and/or microwave frequency energy from a generator, and also defines a flow path for a gas. The probe tip is adjustable between a first configuration, in which it defines a bipolar (e.g. coaxial) structure to produce a high electric field from the received RF and/or microwave frequency energy across the flow path for the gas to strike and sustain plasma and a second configuration, in which it defines an antenna structure to emit non-ionising microwave energy into tissue.
Method and Apparatus for Endo Fistula Laser Therapy
A method and apparatus for rectal fistula laser treatment wherein an insertion tube of a coupler is inserted into a fistula from proximal to distal end. The insertion tube is then purged using sterile water and/or air. A flexible optical waveguide is then inserted through the coupler including the insertion tube until the end of the optical waveguide protrudes 1-3 mm from the distal end of the insertion tube. The optical waveguide is secured to the coupler by a lock nut of the coupler. The insertion tube locked to the optical waveguide is withdrawn through the fistula while CO2 laser radiation is passed down the optical waveguide so that laser radiation is delivered to the inner wall of the fistula at a specific rate as the laser radiation treats the fistula.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TREATING FEMALE URINARY INCONTINENCE AND FECAL INCONTINENCE
A device and method for treating female urinary incontinence and also for treating fecal incontinence are presented. A fractional RF grid array is used to heat target tissue to a temperature of about 40-45? C. for a specified period of time, thus stimulating fibroblasts to produce type 1 collagen preferably without producing significant amounts of type 3 collagen. The device includes a temperature sensor and a control circuit to maintain the desired temperature of the target tissue and avoid overheating. Target tissue includes tissue in and around the urethra, and in and around the anus including the perineum. The wand to which the RF grid array is mounted has visible gradations on it so that the user can treat one area at a time, then reliably move the grid array to the next adjacent area even though the grid array is hidden from view inside a portion of the body. The device can also be used for vaginoplasty.
Margin extension device and method
A margin extension device and method are disclosed herein. The margin extension device can be used for ablating one or several cancer cells and can include a contact member and a plurality of electrodes. The contact member can be electrically conductive, and can electrically connect the electrodes. The margin extension device can further include one or several leads that connect the electrodes of the margin extension device to a treatment controller. The treatment controller can include a pulse generator that can generate one or several electrical pulses that generate one or several electrical fields in tissue proximate to the margin extension device.
