Medical device for evaluating a temperature signal
A medical device including an evaluation unit and an electrode line. The electrode line includes at least one temperature sensor. The temperature sensor delivers a temperature signal to the evaluation unit. The evaluation unit evaluates periodic fluctuations of a signal level of the temperature signal and generates an evaluation output signal qualifying constant wall touching of the electrode line according to whether periodic fluctuations of a signal level of the temperature signal lie below or above a predetermined limit value.
Medical DC current generator and bipolar medical implant fragmentation device equipped therewith
The present invention is directed to an endoscopic implant cutting and/or fragmenting apparatus of the bipolar type, operating on direct current, comprising an endoscope instrument having at least two opposing electrodes at its distal instrument head forming a cutting gap inbetween for receiving an electrically conductive implant or implant section to generate punctiform physical contact with the implant, and a DC-impulse generator connected to a control device adapted to generate a direct current in a pulsed way such that in a first phase of physical contact, the current pulse is adjusted to induce electric energy into the implant material being sufficient to melt the implant material exclusively in the area of the contact portion and in a second phase of physical noncontact, the current pulse is adjusted to generate an electric arc between at least one electrode and the melted implant material being sufficient to cut the melted implant material.
Therapeutic catheter with imaging
Ablation systems and methods of the present disclosure include a catheter including one or more image sensors. The one or more image sensors can facilitate, for example, positioning an ablation electrode at a treatment site of an anatomic structure and, additionally or alternatively, can facilitate controlling delivery of therapeutic energy to a treatment site of an anatomic structure.
Electrosurgical (RF) medical instruments for cutting and coagulating tissue
An electrosurgical device is disclosed. The electrosurgical device includes a handle, a shaft extending distally from the handle, and an end effector coupled to a distal end of the shaft. The end effector comprises a first electrode and a second electrode. The second electrode includes a first position and a second position. The second electrode is configured to move from the first position to the second position when a force is applied to the end effector by a tissue section. The first electrode and the second electrode define a treatment area when the second electrode is in the second position.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FACILITATING APPLICATION OF AN APPROPRIATE THERMAL DOSAGE IN MICROWAVE ABLATION PROCEDURES
Provided in accordance with the present disclosure is a microwave ablation system including a microwave ablation probe configured to deliver energy to a target volume of tissue during an ablation procedure, at least one temperature sensor configured to determine a temperature of the target volume of tissue at a plurality of points in time during the ablation procedure, and a computing device operably coupled to the microwave ablation probe and the at least one temperature sensor. The computing device includes a processor and a memory storing instructions, which causes the computing device to load a temperature accumulation profile corresponding to the target volume of tissue, and dynamically control the microwave ablation probe in accordance with the temperature of the target volume of tissue at each of the points in time such that the temperature of the target volume of tissue follows the temperature accumulation profile during the ablation procedure.
Hyperthermic Cancerous Tissue Ablation
A system and method for hyperthermic ablation of cancerous tissue of a human patient is disclosed. A system and method include a vessel that is sized and adapted for receiving the human patient, and a circulation device outside of the vessel for circulating a thermally conductive liquid to and from the vessel, such that the portion of the human patient enclosed in the containment suit is at least partially submerged in the thermally conductive liquid when the human patient is in the vessel. The system and method further include a set of electromagnetic transmission coils at least partially around the vessel for inducing an alternating electromagnetic field around the human patient, the alternating electromagnetic field being directed, via the thermally conductive liquid, to the cancerous tissue that has been provided a conductive nanoparticle, to provide hyperthermic ablation of the cancerous tissue.
LOW-VOLTAGE IMPEDANCE CHECK PULSE GENERATOR
A method of testing a therapeutic pulse generator circuit is disclosed. The method includes charging the pulse generator circuit to a first charge voltage, with the pulse generator circuit, delivering a first voltage pulse to a load through an electrode, and determining an impedance of the load with the first voltage pulse. The method also includes comparing the impedance with an expected impedance, as a result of the comparison, determining to deliver a second voltage pulse to the load based, and delivering the second voltage pulse to the load, where at least one of the first and second voltage pulses is therapeutic to the load.
SELECTIVE LUNG TISSUE ABLATION
Medical methods and systems are provided for effecting lung volume reduction by selectively ablating segments of lung tissue.
SHALLOW SURFACE CRYOTHERAPY APPLICATORS AND RELATED TECHNOLOGY
Systems for treating a subject's tissue can include a thermally conductive cup with vacuum features configured to facilitate removal of air located between the cup and the subject's skin. The vacuum features can extend along cup to provide airflow paths to a vacuum port. The applicator can cool and/or heat the retained tissue to affect targeted tissue. After the treat period, the vacuum can be reduced or stop and the applicator can be removed from the subject.
