JOINT REVISION SURGERY APPARATUS
The present application is directed a Joint Revision Surgery Apparatus which includes a surgical knife blade guide block which has a plurality of rearward blade guide slots, a central cavity and a large forward slot having an adjustable knife blade guide pressure plate. The surgical knife blade guide block central cavity houses a stem trunnion securing member and is positioned over the trunnion end of the existing prosthesis to be removed and secured to the prothesis. The guide blade block is secured to the trunnion of the prosthesis to be extracted using a stem trunnion securing member housed within the guide block. Straight, curved and compound curved knife blades are guided by the blade guide slots to cut the prothesis free. The Joint Revision Surgery Apparatus facilitates rapid, efficient and complete removal of an existing prosthesis during joint revision surgery, and significantly increases positive medical outcomes for joint revision procedures.
Method and apparatus to account for transponder tagged objects used during clinical procedures employing a shielded receptacle with antenna
Medical procedure related objects (e.g., instruments, supplies) tagged with transponders (e.g., RFID transponders, dumb transponders) are accounted for in a medical or clinical environment via an accounting system using a number of antennas and interrogators/readers. A first set of antennas and RFID interrogator(s) interrogate portions of the environment for RFID tagged objects, for example proximate a start and an end of a procedure. Shielded packaging and/or shielded receptacles shield tagged objects, preventing interrogation except for those objects in unshielded portions of the environment. A shielded receptacle may include an antenna to interrogate the contents thereof in a relatively noise-free environment. A data store may maintain information including a current status or count of each instrument or supply, for instance as checked in or checked out. A handheld antenna and/or second set of antennas interrogates a body of a patient for retained instruments or supplies tagged with dumb transponders.
Methods and devices for performing sequential procedures utilizing a standardized system
The subject invention is a standardized system that provides for the methodical performance of a variety of procedures, which is designed to be configured as a variety of single-use devices, each in the form of a procedure kit which corresponds to a particular type of procedure, organized with all the exact components necessary to perform such particular type of procedure, in accordance with the included step-by-step instructions of a proprietary protocol with which such components correlate. This standardized system for performing a variety of procedures, and the methodical approach for performing each corresponding proprietary protocol, can improve the precision and efficiency of each procedure and, thereby reduce the chance of errors, minimize waste, increase productivity and provide for consistent outcomes.
Packaging container for a medical device
A packaging container for a protected instrument (such as a medical device) includes: (a) first and second complementary clam-shell container components; (b) a cradle for seating a protected instrument formed into the interior side the first clam-shell container component, where the cradle is surrounded on at least three sides by weakened lines formed into first clam-shell container component; (c) a pull-tab extending from the exterior side of the first clam-shell container component, where the pull-tab is positioned within the weakened lines; and (d) a protected instrument seated on the cradle. The first and second complementary clam-shell container components are closed together to enclose the cradle and the protected instrument therein, and the first and second complementary clam-shell components are then fixed together about their respective outer peripheral edge surfaces.
Portable and collapsible apparatus for holding fiducial markers
A portable and collapsible apparatus for holding fiducial markers has a first section that includes a frame, an opposite second side, a first panel attached to the first frame and fiducial markers attached to the first panel. The apparatus includes a second section pivotably attached to the first section and a second frame, an opposite second side, a second panel member attached to the second frame and fiducial markers attached to the second panel. The apparatus is configurable to a closed state by pivoting the first section and second section toward each other where the rear sides of the first frame and second frame contact each other. The apparatus is configurable to an opened state by pivoting the first section and second section away from each other. In the opened state, the first section and second section are vertically oriented with respect to a surface.
Hand-held electromechanical surgical system
A hand-held electromechanical surgical device is configured to selectively connect with a surgical accessory. The surgical device includes a power-pack, an outer shell housing, and a gasket. The power-pack is configured to selectively control a surgical accessory. The outer shell housing includes a distal half-section and a proximal half-section, the distal half-section and the proximal half-section together defining a cavity configured to selectively encase substantially the entire power-pack therein. The gasket is located between the distal half-section and the proximal half-section of the outer shell housing. The gasket is configured to create a seal between the distal half-section and the proximal half-section and to provide a sterile barrier between the power-pack and an outside environment outside the outer shell housing.
DEVICE FOR PACKAGING AN OBJECT, ASSEMBLY AND CORRESPONDING EXTRACTION METHOD
The invention relates to a device for packaging an object, comprising: a main hollow body (100), a closure element (101), and a support (110) housed inside the main hollow body (100), said support being configured to receive an object (150), such as a medical implant. The support comprises a seat having an axial through-hole designed to allow part (170) of the object (150) to extend below the seat, while another part (160) of the object (150) bears on the seat. The packaging device is configured to limit or block the rotation of the support (110) relative to the main hollow body (100) about the axis of the through-hole in the seat. The support (110) is designed to limit or block the rotation of at least part of the object (150) about said axis, whereby the object (150) can move freely out of the main hollow body (100) when the closure element (101) is open. The invention also relates to a corresponding extraction method.
Headgear storage device and method of distribution
Apparatuses for storage and distribution of headgear having sensors and a gel distribution apparatus can be configured to permit storage of the headgear while also protecting the gel distribution modules of the headgear from being inadvertently actuated for deployment of gel to avoid unintended gel leaks or gel applications. In some embodiments, the storage apparatus can be sized and configured to fit within a vending machine for providing remote distribution of the headgear while also protecting the headgear from damage during falls that can occur when the vending machine is activated to distribute a headgear to a customer. Methods of distributing the headgear can utilize an embodiment of the storage device and/or use of at least one vending machine or a network of vending machines.
