Surgical laser cutting device

Provided is a surgical handpiece for providing an electromagnetic cutting blade. The handpiece, comprises a body portion having an input end and an output end, a plurality of optical fibers for receiving laser energy having a wavelength within a predetermined wavelength range, wherein the optical fibers are received in the body portion at the input end and extend to the output end, and an optical fiber transition region within the body portion for arranging the plurality of optical fibers into a predetermine cutting shape at the output end, wherein laser energy transmitted from the arranged optical fibers at the output end interact with water molecules near the surgical target to generate micro-explosions that result in a cutting effect.

Instrument and System for Ablation
20190167335 · 2019-06-06 ·

An instrument for large-area ablation of the mucosa including at least one first gas supply line and at least one second gas supply line whose distal ends are arranged to form an acute angle (), so that the ends diverge distally. A free space between the distal ends of the gas supply lines allows the user to view the tissue region behind the distal end of the instrument. Due to the acute angle (), electrodes arranged at least partially in the ends of the gas supply lines generate a wide plasma beam with which the mucosa ablation can be performed. The instrument can be guided precisely due to the view through the free space. A connecting element according to the invention is provided for attaching the ends of the gas supply lines.

CERAMIC TIP FOR GAS-ASSISTED ELECTROSURGICAL PROBE
20190167334 · 2019-06-06 ·

An apparatus for gas-assisted electrosurgery having a gas-assisted electrosurgical probe comprising a tube and an electrode within said tube, wherein a distal end portion of said electrode extends from an opening at a distal end of said tube and an electrically insulating tip connected to a distal end of said electrode. The electrically insulating tip has a substantially hemispherical distal end portion having a radius r.sub.1 and a proximal portion having a circular cross-section and a central axis of a length l.sub.1, wherein 1.sub.1>r.sub.1.

Automated system and method for hair removal

Automated systems and methods for removing hair from a body surface is provided. The methods and systems are semi- or fully automated. Some of the steps of the methods comprise determining a hair growth phase and selecting hair follicles for depilation based at least in part of the identified hair growth phase. The energy delivery device may be attached to the robotic arm and directed to align with the hair follicle to be depilated.

ENERGY TREATMENT SYSTEM AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

A method for controlling an energy treatment system includes performing treatment on a subject by a probe of an energy treatment instrument which outputs ultrasonic energy and high frequency energy in combination; setting an output reduction control period, based on information related to an amount of mist generated by the probe; and reducing the output of the high frequency energy during the output reduction control period when a precursor of occurrence of spark or occurrence of spark is detected.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CORONARY OCCLUSION TREATMENT

Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure include systems and methods for treatment of occlusions, including coronary artery chronic total occlusions.

Cautery apparatus

A cautery device includes an elongated handpiece extending axially from a proximal end to a distal end and a cautery tip extending coaxially with the handpiece from the distal end of the handpiece. The tip defines a channel extending coaxially with the handpiece along an entire length of the cautery tip from a proximal open end to a distal open end. The device includes a gas supply connection extending from the proximal end of the handpiece for supplying gas to the cautery tip. The gas supply connection is fluidly coupled to the cautery tip. The device includes an electric supply connection extending from the proximal end of the handpiece for supplying electricity to the cautery tip. The electric supply connection is electrically coupled to the cautery tip. The gas supplied to the cautery tip is introduced to the channel at the proximal open end and exits the tip at the distal open end.

Surgical instrument with tissue recognition

An electrosurgical device for recognizing tissue by means of spectral analysis of the light generated at an electrode. An acoustic or optical indicator device displays the tissue type permanently or when detecting certain tissue. Indicators, in particular optical indicators, are arranged in the application field of view, so as to support the user in response to making an incision.

Pressure relief system for use with gas-assisted minimally invasive surgical devices
10245096 · 2019-04-02 · ·

An electrosurgical device is adapted for use through a port and within a body cavity. The device includes a gas supply supplying gas to a distal tip and a valve to regular such supply, and an electric supply for supplying electricity to the distal tip. A pressure relief system is provided to regulate an outflow of gas from within the body cavity to prevent exceeding a predetermined pressure. The inflow of the gas through the valve and outflow of gas through the pressure relief system may occur simultaneously.

MEDICAL SYSTEMS FOR ENDOMETRIAL ABLATION

A system for treating uterine tissue comprises an elongated shaft having a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis extending between said proximal and distal ends. An energy applicator at the distal end of the elongated shaft is actuatable between a non-expanded shape to be inserted through a patient's cervical canal and an expanded shape to conform to the walls of the patient's uterus. A handle is coupled to a proximal end of the elongated shaft. The handle may include first and second moveable grips coupled to actuate the energy applicator with an upper spring and a lower spring disposed to urge the first and second moveable grips to move apart. An inflatable seal may be located at a distal end of the elongated shaft with a thermally insulating sleeve disposed over the elongated shaft proximal to the inflatable seal. An extension member may be coupled to axially advance and retract the extension member and have a central passage to removably receive an endoscope to enable viewing through the transparent portion of the energy applicator. Alternatively, a tubular sheath may be coupled to the elongated shaft to removably receive an endoscope to enable forward viewing from a location near the distal end of the energy applicator.
