MECHANISMS AND METHODS FOR THE DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF A MECHANICAL INTERFACE BETWEEN A WEARABLE DEVICE AND A HUMAN BODY SEGMENT
20220133173 · 2022-05-05 · ·

The system includes an instrument for determining the anatomical, biomechanical, and physiological properties of a body segment that includes one or more force sensitive probes is provided. A human operator actuates one or more force sensitive probes, wherein the force sensitive probes are positioned at the surface of the body segment. The operator pushes on the force sensitive probes with varying force applied on the body segment to measure tissue deflection forces. The instrument may include one or more of gyroscopes, accelerometers, and magnetometers capable of measuring changes in tissue deflection caused by the force sensitive probes relative to a grounded reference frame in 3-D space, wherein the tissue deflection force data and the change in tissue deflection data are used to compute segment tissue viscoelastic properties. The instrument may also be untethered or wireless.

DEVICE FOR CONDITIONING EX VIVO PERICARDIAL TISSUE
20220133342 · 2022-05-05 · ·

Apparatus is described that includes a blade assembly (20) for conditioning ex vivo pericardial tissue from which fibers extend. The apparatus includes a blade head (26) that includes a blade a may (28) and a face (30) defining gaps (32) therein. The gaps are dimensioned to facilitate protrusion therethrough of fibers into the blade head, such that movement of the blade array, with respect to the face, shears the fibers. The blade assembly is configured to be used while the tissue and the blade array are submerged in a liquid (140) with the fibers facing upward, and with the face facing downward. The apparatus is configured to provide, while the blade array is submerged in the liquid, a suction force that sucks the liquid into the blade head via the gaps, and discharges a refuse liquid through a lateral exhaust hole (24). Other embodiments are also described.

OPTOACOUSTIC IMAGING SYSTEMS AND METHODS WITH ENHANCED SAFETY

An optoacoustic system and method for providing enhanced laser safety includes a laser light source, a control and processing system, a laser override, and an array of optoacoustic transducers. The laser light source is capable of generating a laser light pulse upon receiving a laser light source trigger. The control and processing system is configured to generate a laser light source trigger, to receive and process ultrasound data, and to control operation of the optoacoustic system. The control and processing system determines whether received ultrasound data reflects acoustic coupling between the transducer array and the volume. The laser override is configured to automatically prevent the generation of a laser light pulse if received ultrasound data does not reflect acoustic coupling between the optoacoustic transducer array and the volume.

Biometric information detection device and method of producing the same, biometric information detection module and method of producing the same

A biometric information detection device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure is configured to be installed in a living body, and includes a sensor, a battery, a mechanical switch, a sealing member, and a holding member. The mechanical switch switches between a conduction state in which power is supplied from the battery to the sensor and a cutoff state in which supply of the power is blocked. The sealing member seals all of the sensor, the battery, and the mechanical switch. The holding member is attached to the living body and holds the sealing member.

The disclosure extends to systems and devices for determining and maintaining a consistent ground and ground saturation resistance that include a device that includes a grip element and bioelectrical grounding segments, which may be disposed about the grip element on the grounding device.

Tissue Oxygen Saturation with Quality Metric Reporting

An oximeter probe determines an oxygen saturation for the tissue and determines a quality value for the oxygen saturation and associated measurements of the tissue. The quality value is calculated from reflectance data received at the detectors of the oximeter probe. The oximeter probe then displays a value for the oxygen saturation with the error value to indicate a quality level for the oxygen saturation and associated values used to calculate oxygen saturation.

NONINVASIVE MEDICAL DIAGNOSTICS USING ELECTRICAL IMPEDANCE METRICS AND CLINICAL PREDICTORS

Apparatuses, systems, and methods are disclosed for noninvasive medical diagnostics using electrical impedance metrics and clinical predictors. A method includes applying an electrical current to at least one interrogation electrode placed on a surface of a person's body within a Sappey Plexus region of the person's breast. A method includes measuring an electrical impedance of the person's tissue between the at least one interrogation electrode placed within the Sappey Plexus region of the person's breast and a reference electrode. A method includes comparing the measured electrical impedance to previously-captured electrical impedance measurements of corresponding tissue to determine an indication of a presence of a malignant tumor in the person's tissue.
