SPIROMETER
The chronic nature of asthma necessitates regular self-monitoring of respiratory function in susceptible individuals, however the available devices for performing the necessary measurements are either inaccurate or expensive and bulky. The present invention provides a small, cheap spirometer for efficient, accurate and convenient measurement of breathing characteristics.
Rack mount
A system of mated connectors includes a connector having one or more connector quadrants comprising electrical contacts and a mating connector detachably secured to the connector. The mating connector includes one or more mating quadrants and electrical contacts. The mating connector configured to provide electrical coupling to the connector detachably secured thereto. The electrical contacts of a first quadrant of connector quadrants have a first predetermined pin-out and the electrical contacts of a second quadrant of the connector quadrants have a second predetermined pin-out. The electrical contacts of each quadrant of a first pair of the mating quadrants have the first predetermined pin-out and the electrical contacts of each quadrant of a second pair of the mating quadrants have the second predetermined pin-out.
Electric Conductive Sensing Device
An electric conductive sensing device is provided. A front sheet of a sensing pad has several openings. A sensing electrode is a conductive ink electrode aligned with and exposed through each opening. Several first terminals are formed on an insert portion of the sensing pad and are connected to sensing electrodes. Each opening covered by a conductive gel is electrically connected to the corresponding sensing electrode. The insert portion is integrated in a connector. The present invention can be used as electrode patches of ECG devices or electric stimulators. In use, the connector is plugged into the devices to transmit tiny electrical currents to the ECG device from human skin surface, or to transmit electrical currents generated from the stimulator to human. The sensing electrodes are formed by conductive ink printing thereby simplifying the manufacturing process and lowering the manufacturing cost compared to conventional soldered structures.
ELECTRODE
An electrode includes an electrically non-conductive support. A protruding, electrically conductive attachment element with an attachment site for the releasable attachment of a signal conductor is on an upper face of the support. A conductor is on the underside of the support, and is electrically connected to the attachment element and to a contact medium. The conductor and the contact medium are arranged on the underside of the support. An imaginary normal to the support, running through the attachment element, runs through the conductor or a recess in the conductor and through the contact medium or a recess in the contact medium. The conductor has on its surface a redox pair suitable for the depolarization of the electrode. The attachment element has a projection reaching through the support with a widened region at its end, and the conductor is arranged between the widened region and the support.
Multifunction cable for use with different signal inputs
A cable comprises a circuit, a switching element and an input connection for engaging an output connection of a sensor, the switching element configured to selectively enable the circuit of the cable assembly to process an accepted output of at least one of at least two sensors providing differing acceptable outputs and to provide a signal output corresponding to the accepted sensor output for processing by a monitor. A sensor includes an initiation element structured to cause a switching element associated with an input connection of the cable to change a mode of operation of the switching element to selectively enable the circuit to process an output of the sensor accepted by the cable and to provide a signal output corresponding to the accepted sensor output. A system comprises a monitor and the cable including the circuit and the switching element. Methods of operation are also disclosed.
LEAD CABLE FOR ELECTROCARDIOGRAPH SYSTEMS
An electrocardiogram system is provided. The system includes an array of sensors configured to generate electrical signals relating to cardiac activity. The system further includes a plurality of lead cables. Each lead cable includes a sensor terminal, an opposing sensor terminal, and an intermediate segment. The intermediate segment is interposed between the sensor terminal and the opposing sensor terminal. The array of sensors are electrically coupled to the sensor terminals. The intermediate segment is configured to carry the electrical signals from the sensor terminal to the opposing sensor terminal. The intermediate segment is enclosed by a non-conductive enclosure. The non-conductive enclosure having opposing linear surfaces and opposing lateral surfaces extending from the opposing linear surfaces. The opposing linear surfaces are parallel with respect to each other.
ARM MOUNTABLE PORTABLE PATIENT MONITOR
An arm mountable portable patient monitoring device configured to receive physiological information from a plurality of sensors attached to a patient via wired connections for on-patient monitoring of parameter measurements and wireless transmission of parameter measurements to separate monitoring devices. The arm mountable portable patient monitoring device includes a housing, a strap, a display, a first sensor port positioned on a first side of the housing configured to face toward a hand of the patient when the housing is secured to the arm of the patient, second and third sensor ports configured to receive signals from additional sensor arrangements via a wired connections, one or more signal processing arrangements configured to cause to be displayed measurements of oxygen saturation and pulse rate, and a transmitter configured to wirelessly transmit information indicative of the measurements of oxygen saturation and pulse rate to a separate monitoring device.
MODULAR WRIST-WORN PROCESSOR FOR PATIENT MONITORING
The invention provides a physiological probe that comfortably attaches to the base of the patient's thumb, thereby freeing up their fingers for conventional activities in a hospital, such as reading and eating. The probe, which comprises a separate cradle module and sensor module, secures to the thumb and measures time-dependent signals corresponding to LEDs operating near 660 and 905 nm. The cradle module, which contains elements subject to wear, is preferably provided as a disposable unit.
MULTIFUNCTIONAL ELECTROPHYSIOLOGICAL MONITORING SYSTEM
A multifunctional electrophysiological monitoring system includes a body-worn tattoo sensor pattern and an electrophysiological monitor connected to sensor contacts of the pattern. A dongle performs a supplemental function, such as acquiring information about a physiological parameter. The dongle interfaces with a port of the monitor. The monitor interfaces wirelessly with a mobile communication device and a monitor network. In an embodiment, the monitor transmits ECG, EMG, or EEG signals. The dongle may provide further monitoring such as body temperature or blood oxygen saturation level. In some embodiments a plurality of dongles may be connected to the monitor.
