The seal is trumpet-shaped and arranged between the open end of the barrel and the bearing. The seal includes a sealing portion sleeved over an outer cylindrical surface of the central shaft. The sealing portion is deformable to separate from the outer cylindrical surface of the central shaft or closely contact the outer cylindrical surface of the central shaft depending on a pressure difference between interior and exterior of the barrel.
PROPHY ANGLE AND ADAPTER WITH GUARD
A dental tool comprises a guard having a concave inner surface at one end and an adapter. The adapter comprising a nose, a monolithic ball portion having an integral neck, and a ball receiver comprising a convex outer surface and a concave inner surface, where the concave inner surface of the ball receiver engages a convex outer surface of the monolithic ball portion, the concave inner surface of the guard engages the convex outer surface of the ball receiver, and an opposite end of the guard rests upon the nose.
Dental Handpiece and Prophy Angle
A combination includes a dental handpiece and a prophy angle. The dental handpiece includes a nosecone threadably connected to the dental handpiece. The prophy angle includes a proximal body that matingly attaches to the nosecone. A plurality of elongated torque members are formed on each of the prophy angle proximal body and the nosecone. Each of the torque members is a male torque member or a female torque member and each male torque member formed on one of the prophy angle proximal body and the nosecone matingly couples with a female torque member formed on the other of the nosecone and the prophy angle proximal body. The prophy angle, including the plurality of elongated torque members formed on the prophy angle, is formed to also be attachable to a known standard doriot-style nosecone. Other specific features of the handpiece and prophy angle are also disclosed.
PROPHY ANGLE DEVICE AND METHOD OF USE
A disposable prophy angle is provided, the prophy angle comprising a housing containing a drive shaft and a driven shaft; the drive shaft having a proximal end and a distal end and a longitudinal axis therebetween, the distal end having a substantially conical driving portion and a projection, the proximal end of the drive shaft configured to engage a dental hand piece; and the driven shaft having a driven portion comprising a recess configured for engagement by the projection and/or the substantially conical portion of the drive shaft to oscillate the driven shaft at an oscillation angle greater than 90 degrees. In some embodiments, there is a method of making a disposable prophy angle by overmolding a prophy cup to the prophy angle. In other embodiments, there is a method of using the prophy angle to prevent tooth decay.
DENTAL HANDPIECE
A dental handpiece includes a barrel, an air turbine, a central shaft, a bearing and a seal. The barrel includes an axial open end. The air turbine is rotatably provided in the barrel. The central shaft is secured to the air turbine to rotate with the air turbine. The bearing is mounted in the barrel and supports the central shaft for rotation.
Device for dispensing a dental material with locking mechanism
A device for dispensing a dental material includes a nozzle head, a hand piece and a locking mechanism for locking the nozzle head and the hand piece. The locking mechanism includes a snap connection and a screw connection. The locking mechanism is operable between a locked position in which the snap connection is engaged for retaining the nozzle head and the hand piece with each other and in which the screw connection is disengaged; and a secured position in which the snap connection is disengaged and in which the screw connection is engaged for retaining the nozzle head and the hand piece with each other; and a released position in which the snap connection and the screw connection are disengaged.
Mechanized surgical equipment comprising an instrument and an instrument holder, corresponding packaging and instrument holder
A piece of mechanized surgical equipment is provided, which includes an instrument holder having an element for receiving and retaining a surgical instrument for mechanized use. Also provided is a surgical instrument for mechanized use and configured to be mounted on the instrument holder. The element for receiving and retaining is mobile between an unlocking position, in which the element enables insertion of the instrument into the instrument holder or withdrawal thereof, and a locking position, in which the element prevents the withdrawal of the instrument from the instrument holder. Furthermore, the equipment includes a case in which an active blade of the instrument can be removably housed, the case having an engaging element for engaging with the receiving and retaining element so as to cause the element to move from the unlocking position to the locking position, or vice versa.
Dental Handpiece
A dental handpiece includes: a head including a holder configured to hold a cutting tool, a tool rotation mechanism configured to rotate the cutting tool, a housing including the holder and the tool rotation mechanism, and a cooling passage formed in a side wall of the housing; and a grip including a first air supply passage configured to supply first air for cooling the tool rotation mechanism, and a second air supply passage connected to the cooling passage and configured to supply the head with second air lower in flow rate than the first air. The head is joined to the grip such that, of an angle formed between a rotation axis of the cutting tool and a major axis of a coupling portion of the grip which is coupled to the head, an angle on a cutting edge side of the cutting tool is an obtuse angle.
Electric reciprocation generator for reamer and electric reciprocation generator attached with reamer
A vibration-side housing is attached to a tip of a handle-side housing, and a motor in which a plate cam is attached to a rotating shaft is housed. A vibration tube mounting opening opens at distal end part of the vibration-side housing, and a vibration tube is mounted thereon. The vibration tube is provided to vibrate in a forward-backward direction while urged in the plate cam direction via a spring with respect to the vibration-side housing. The vibration tube contacts with the plate cam via a roller at a rear end part. A reamer mounting opening opens at a tip of the vibration tube, and receives and tightly holds an insertion part of the reamer. The reamer including the bendable needle part is attachable/detachable to the vibration-side housing.
