Archwire for use with a passive ligating orthodontic bracket system
An archwire for use with a passive self-ligation orthodontic bracket is described and which includes a resilient main body which is received in the archwire slot, and which further has a predetermined width dimension, and a variable thickness dimension, and wherein the variable thickness dimension of the archwire can be varied so as to facilitate an adjustable application of a force to the passive self-ligation orthodontic bracket so as to achieve a clinician selectable and controllable second and third order movement of a patient's tooth.
Self-ligating orthodontic bracket
An orthodontic bracket having a bracket body configured to be mounted to a tooth includes an archwire slot having a base surface defining a base plane and a slide engagement track defining a translation plane. The translation plane is angled with respect to the base plane. A ligating slide is engaged with the slide engagement track of the bracket body and movable along the slide engagement track and parallel to the translation plane between an opened position, in which an archwire is insertable into the archwire slot, and a closed position, in which the archwire is retained within the archwire slot. The translation plane is angled with respect to the base plane so as to prevent the ligating slide from contacting the gingiva surrounding the tooth when the ligating slide is moved to the opened position.
Self-ligating bracket system with passive or interactive clip
A self-ligating orthodontic bracket system comprising a bracket body, an archwire, a slot receivable for an archwire, either a passive or interactive clip, and a channel capable of receiving the clip. The clip comprises two arms having a combined total width that is greater than the width of the channel.
Orthodontic bracket apparatus and method for treating a malocclusion
An orthodontic bracket apparatus and method for treating a malocclusion includes a bracket base having an angulated posterior facing surface and which is matingly and releasably positioned adjacent to an anterior facing surface of a patient's tooth; a multiplicity of bracket bodies releasably and adjustably engageable with the bracket base; and an arch wire simultaneously engageable within an arch wire slot defined in each of the bracket bodies to exert first, second and third order movements to the maloccluded tooth; and wherein the bracket base remains affixed to the patient's tooth throughout the multiple step orthodontic treatment regimen selected by the treating clinician.
Ceramic self-ligating bracket with high labial pull strength
A high-strength, self-ligating appliances with orthodontically desirable dimensions. The appliances incorporate a door slidably engaged to a channel in the body; one that can be opened or closed depending on the equilibrium position of an integral protrusion on the door. Cooperating grooves and rails on the body and the door can guide the door between the open and closed positions, and mitigate against unintentional detachment. Appliances including rails that result in improved labial pull strength are disclosed.
Orthodontic Bracket Having a Movable Ligating Door
A self-ligating orthodontic bracket has a bonding base adapted for attachment to the crown of a tooth. A body member is attached to the front surface of the base and extends forwardly to a front face. The base defines a torque angle with respect to the front face of the body. Gingival and occlusal projections extend forwardly from the body member. The projections have archwire slot surfaces which, together with a portion of the body member's front face, define an archwire slot. First and second channels defined in the projections are coplanar and are disposed at an angle to the front face of the body member that is substantially equal to the torque angle. A door is disposed in one of the first and second channels. The door is movable between an open position and a closed position to selectably provide or prevent access to and from the archwire slot.
TEETH REPOSITIONING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Systems and methods of repositioning teeth, using one or more appliances for installing on a patient's teeth are described. The appliance includes an arch shaped member; a plurality of spring members coupled to or provided on the arch shaped member; and a plurality of securing members for securing to a corresponding plurality of the patient's teeth on a one-to-one basis, the securing members being supported by the arch shaped member. The arch shaped member and the plurality of springs, together, comprise a two dimensional structure having a length dimension and a width dimension with varying widths along the length dimension, that is bent into a three dimensional structure.

SELF-LIGATING BRACKET FOR ORTHODONTICS
A self-ligating bracket for orthodontics includes a resilient clamp, wherein a first clamp leg is inserted in a slit and can be moved therein between a closed and open position to prevent an unintended loss of the clamp. The first clamp leg has at least one oblong recess, into which protrudes a projection that proceeds from the lingually or labially situated surface of the slit. The recess is bordered on its end facing away from the clamp bend by a stop, which hits the projection in the open position of the clamp and limits a further movement of the clamp. The surface situated opposite the projection forms an escape space inside of the slit, into which the first clamp leg escapes with the stop under a resilient deformation when the stop slides over the projection during insertion of the clamp.
ORTHODONTIC SELF-LIGATING BRACKET
An orthodontic bracket has a base configured for attachment to a tooth surface, a bracket element with an arch wire slot attached to one side of the base, and a clip for securing the arch wire in the slot. The bracket element has a wall portion extending upward along one side of the arch wire slot. This wall portion has three indentations in a line parallel to the mesiodistal direction, separated by two side walls having free ends with flanges extending parallel to the mesiodistal direction. The clip is substantially U-shaped and has two protrusions shaped to fit within the two outer indentations of the wall portion, and two diverging central fingers that fit within the central indentation, and a locking element. The clip is securable to the bracket by placing the protrusions and central fingers into the indentations of the bracket element until they engage the flanges.
