Embolic protection elements are integrated with a catheter or access sheath for any catheter. A catheter with an integrated embolic protection element comprises a catheter shaft, an embolic filter slidably mounted on a distal portion of the shaft, a proximal stop for limiting the proximal movement of the embolic filter, and a distal stop for limiting the distal movement of the embolic filter. The filter comprises a porous mesh material defining a collection chamber for captured emboli and has a collapsed and a deployed configuration. The filter may be collapsed by an access sheath used with the catheter. An access sheath may comprise a tubular main body and an embolic filter mounted on the distal portion of the tubular main body. The embolic filter may evert into the central lumen of the sheath or may be constrained on the exterior of the sheath with a larger diameter outer tube.

Disclosed is a guidewire stop configured to lock a medical device onto a guidewire. The guidewire stop comprises a locking element, an actuator coupled to the locking element and a locking tube, wherein at least a section of the guidewire and at least part of the locking element or actuator pass through the locking tube. Further disclosed is that the locking tube comprises an unlocking element configured to unlock the medical device from the guidewire. The disclosed guidewire stop has at least the following three configurations: —an initial unlocked configuration in which the guidewire stop and the medical device are movable relative to the guidewire; —a first locked configuration in which the guidewire stop and the medical device are not movable relative to the guidewire; and—a first unlocked configuration in which the guidewire stop and the medical device are movable relative to the guidewire.

Medical device and procedure method

A medical device to be inserted into a blood vessel for effectively removing an object flowing in a biological lumen while reducing the burden on the living body includes an elongated shaft portion, and an expansion portion which is an elastically deformable cylindrical body having a plurality of gaps and in which a proximal portion or a distal portion of the cylindrical body is interlocked with the shaft portion. The expansion portion has a ring-shaped or annular bent portion which protrudes toward a proximal side position radially outside the expansion portion in a bent state of being bent along an axial direction, and an axial length of a second portion from the bent portion to a proximal end of the expansion portion is shorter than an axial length of a first portion from the bent portion to the distal end of the expansion portion.

Filter device

A filter device includes: a core member; a push member; first, second and third tubes; a first restriction member disposed on the first tube and configured to restrict a pushing movement of the third tube to the distal direction; a filter; a ring fixed to the opening; first and second wires, wherein the filter is configured in such a manner that the diameter of the opening is reduced by deformation of the shape of the ring, the deformation being caused by the first wires and the second wires when the push member fixed to the core member is pushed with the push member in contact with the second tube, and in such a manner that the diameter of the opening is expanded by restoration of the ring to the original shape, the restoration being caused by separating the push member fixed to the core member from the second tube.

Vascular filtration device

Vascular filtering devices and methods for their use are disclosed. In some embodiments, the vascular filtering devices include an elongate member having an unsupported membrane bag portion attached thereto. The membrane may be porous in some examples. Multiple elongate extensions may also extend from the membrane, and may extend along the elongate member, such as to a proximal region of the elongate member. The unsupported membrane bag portion may be configured to inflate or otherwise radially expand away from the elongate member as a result of blood flowing through the vessel within which the vascular filtering device is positioned.

Emboli capture device

A filter device includes: a shaft having an intermediate coil wire between a proximal filter wire and a distal filter wire; a proximal filter on the proximal filter wire; and a distal filter on the distal filter wire. The intermediate coil wire is disposed to extend between downstream and upstream blood vessels to pass through a path of placement that leads to another downstream blood vessel. Both the filters have a contracted configuration for being delivered into the blood vessel and an expanded configuration for capturing an embolus inside the blood vessel. The proximal filter is oriented such that an inlet opening, for taking in the embolus, of a proximal filter body in the expanded configuration faces the distal side, and the distal filter is oriented such that an inlet opening, for taking in the embolus, of a distal filter body in the expanded configuration faces the proximal side.

CATHETER WITH INTEGRATED EMBOLIC PROTECTION DEVICE

A prosthetic heart valve delivery catheter includes an embolic filter to provide integrated embolic protection to inhibit the release of emboli into the aorta, the aortic arch or branch vessels, and other vasculature during transvascular heart valve replacement procedures. The embolic filter will usually be fixedly or movably attached to a shaft of the delivery catheter proximal of the prosthetic heart valve.
