Method of verifying access of multi-core interconnect to level-2 cache
The present disclosure provides a method and a system of verifying access by a multi-core interconnect to an L2 cache in order to solve problems of delays and difficulties in locating errors and generating check expectation results. A consistency transmission monitoring circuitry detects, in real time, interactions among a multi-core interconnects system, all single-core processors, an L2 cache and a primary memory, and sends collected transmission information to an L2 cache expectation generator and a check circuitry. The L2 cache expectation generator obtains information from a global memory precise control circuitry according to a multi-core consistency protocol and generates an expected result. The check circuitry is responsible for comparing the expected result with an actual result, thus implementing determination of multi-core interconnect's access accuracy to the L2 cache without delay.
Branch target filtering based on memory region access count
A branch predictor of a processor includes one or more prediction structures, including a predicted branch address and predicted branch direction, that identify predicted branches. To reduce power consumption, the branch predictor selects one or more of the prediction structures that are not expected to provide useful branch prediction information and filters the selected structures such that the filtered structures are not used for branch prediction. The branch predictor thereby reduces the amount of power used for branch prediction without substantially reducing the accuracy of the predicted branches.
Capacity management in a cloud computing system using virtual machine series modeling
A method for minimizing allocation failures in a cloud computing system without overprovisioning may include determining a predicted supply for a virtual machine series in a system unit of the cloud computing system during an upcoming time period. The predicted supply may be based on a shared available current capacity and a shared available future added capacity for the virtual machine series in the system unit. The method may also include predicting an available capacity for the virtual machine series in the system unit during the upcoming time period. The predicted available capacity may be based at least in part on a predicted demand for the virtual machine series in the system unit during the upcoming time period and the predicted supply. The method may also include taking at least one mitigation action in response to determining that the predicted demand exceeds the predicted supply during the upcoming time period.

In various examples, permanent faults in hardware component(s) and/or connections to the hardware component(s) of a computing platform may be predicted before they occur using in-system testing. As a result of this prediction, one or more remedial actions may be determined to enhance the safety of the computing platform (e.g., an autonomous vehicle). A degradation rate of a performance characteristic associated with the hardware component may be determined, detected, and/or computed by monitoring values of performance characteristics over time using fault testing.
Precise longitudinal monitoring of memory operations
A processor includes a memory subunit that includes a status register and an execution engine unit to: randomly select a load operation to monitor; determine a re-order buffer identifier of the load operation; and transmit the re-order buffer identifier to the memory subsystem. Responsive to receipt of the re-order buffer identifier, the first memory subunit is to store a piece of information, related to a status of the load operation, in the status register. The processor also includes logic to, responsive to detection of retirement of the load operation, store memory information in memory-related fields of a record of a memory buffer. The memory information includes auxiliary information (AUX) and access latency information, wherein one of the auxiliary information or the access latency information includes the piece of information, from the status register, stored in a particular field of the memory-related fields.

The present disclosure relates to a computing system. The computing system comprises a data input configured to receive an input data signal, a computation unit having an input coupled with the data input, the computation unit being operative to apply a weight to a signal received at its input to generate a weighted output signal, and a controller. The controller is configured to monitor a parameter of the input signal and/or a parameter of the output signal and to issue a control signal to the computation unit to control a level of accuracy of the weighted output signal based at least in part on the monitored parameter.
Hang detection and remediation in a multi-threaded application process
Detecting non-callable external component APIs is provided. It is determined whether a first function call stack of a worker thread in a multi-threaded application of the computer matches a second function call stack of the worker thread. In response to determining that the first function call stack matches the second function call stack of the worker thread, an external component application programming interface (API) corresponding to the worker thread is identified from a function call stack of the worker thread. The external component API corresponding to the worker thread is marked as non-callable in an API state map. The worker thread is marked as being in a hang state. The worker thread in the hang state is terminated as a remediation action step to maintain performance.
