This invention relates to a method which provides, showing as well the relevant documents to the user even if the said documents that are closely related to the subject do not contain the keywords that are entered for search in their content, by analyzing citation contexts of every document in a data pool containing documents that are citing or linking to at least one document. In an alternative embodiment of this method, in the case when the documents cited by using the entered keywords are cited by other documents using other keywords, these said other keywords are considered as similar terms and the search is conducted as well by including these said similar terms.

A method for managing engagement and presentation content of an electronic document involves providing container metadata identifying engagement containers within the electronic document, providing engagement data linked to the engagement containers, the engagement data comprising parameters of an engagement based on the segments of content in the linked engagement containers, executing a procedure to traverse engagement containers identified in the container metadata. The procedure includes accepting, based on user input, data responsive to the engagement, and assigning a score for the current engagement container based on the received data and the parameters defined in the engagement metadata.

A method includes receiving, at a computing device, an electronic document, wherein the electronic document is a legal brief comprising a plurality of paragraphs; identifying one or more argument paragraphs from among the plurality of paragraphs, wherein each of the one or more argument paragraphs includes one or more legal arguments; performing a textual search of a corpus of legal documents based on a selected set of the identified argument paragraphs; performing a semantic search of the corpus of legal documents based on the selected set of the identified argument paragraphs; combining results of the textual search and the semantic search; and presenting the combined results to a user.

The present disclosure provides a payload activation device. The payload activation device comprises a camera having a fixed focal length, arranged to capture an image of an object on a platform for carrying a payload having the payload activation device, wherein, when the payload is in a first position relative to the platform, the image of the object is in a first focused state and, when the payload is in a second position relative to the platform, the image of the object is in a second focused state. The payload activation device also comprises a processor configured to determine whether the image of the object is in the first focused state or the second focused state and to cause actuation of an activation mechanism within the payload when the image of object is in the second focused state to activate the payload. The present disclosure also provides a deployable payload having the payload activation device and an aircraft for carrying the deployable payload.

An unsupervised multi-hop search across a corpus of documents in a database or other data resource permits the identification of relationships between two entities mentioned in the corpus in cases where the two entities are not co-mentioned within any documents in the corpus (or not mentioned within document(s) with sufficient frequency or proximity to infer the relationship). The search can employ a beam search algorithm anchored by word embeddings and an A* graph traversal to calculate semantic distance between the entities as different paths through the corpus for different entity co-mentions are evaluated.

Various embodiments disclosed relate to a citation landscape tool and method of producing citation landscape analyses. The present disclosure includes methods of receiving a selection of a patent application, identifying patent family members, and aggregating forwards and backwards citations. The landscape tool can be used to produce landscape analyses for user review.

A method for determining an academic impact, including: pre-processing a citing paper to obtain pre-processed data; determining a category of an impact, on the citing paper, of each reference paper and ranking of contribution, to the citing paper, of each reference paper, according to the pre-processed data; determining a local influential factor, on the citing paper, of each reference paper, according to the category of the impact and the ranking of the contribution of each reference paper; and determining a global influential factor of each reference paper according to a global influential factor of the citing paper and the local influential factor.

A method for determining relevant search results includes provided a searchable database containing a plurality of source documents with corresponding citations. The source documents and the corresponding citations have keywords. The keywords are extracted from the source documents and citations using a parser and are stored in the searchable database in association with the source documents and citations. The citations are linked to their source documents in a graph databased based upon the keywords shared between them.

Systems and methods of the present technology generally provide computer implemented assistance for data summary, including organizing and generating a summary of data selected form source documents. In accordance with the present technology, a user identifies a subset of information from one or more source documents, assigns an identifier to the user-identified information, and may add custom information. The user can repeat the identification and assignment steps using multiple source documents, as many times as desired. The system then analyzes and prioritizes the user-identified information and any custom information, and generates a formatted summary.

A computer implemented method for searching electronic documents, and associated system and computer program product. The method includes receiving an input representing an example-based search query and processing the input. The method also includes determining, for each of the electronic documents, a relevance score between the input and the corresponding electronic document. The determination is based on, at least, textual similarity between the input and the corresponding electronic document, topical similarity between the input and the corresponding electronic document, as well as linkage relationship in a linkage network of the plurality of electronic documents. The method also includes determining, based on the determined relevance scores, a search result containing one or more of the electronic documents. The search results will be provided to the user.
