A method for managing engagement and presentation content of an electronic document involves providing container metadata identifying engagement containers within the electronic document, providing engagement data linked to the engagement containers, the engagement data comprising parameters of an engagement based on the segments of content in the linked engagement containers, executing a procedure to traverse engagement containers identified in the container metadata. The procedure includes accepting, based on user input, data responsive to the engagement, and assigning a score for the current engagement container based on the received data and the parameters defined in the engagement metadata.

A method and system for determining a location of origin and a time period in which a document was written is disclosed. A text is received and a set of linguistic characteristics for the text are identified. A set of possible locations and time periods for the text are determined based on the set of linguistic characteristics. A set of reference documents are used to determine a proximity rating for the text based upon a determination of how close the text is to the reference documents. The potential locations and time periods are ranked and returned for presentation.

The present disclosure provides a payload activation device. The payload activation device comprises a camera having a fixed focal length, arranged to capture an image of an object on a platform for carrying a payload having the payload activation device, wherein, when the payload is in a first position relative to the platform, the image of the object is in a first focused state and, when the payload is in a second position relative to the platform, the image of the object is in a second focused state. The payload activation device also comprises a processor configured to determine whether the image of the object is in the first focused state or the second focused state and to cause actuation of an activation mechanism within the payload when the image of object is in the second focused state to activate the payload. The present disclosure also provides a deployable payload having the payload activation device and an aircraft for carrying the deployable payload.

The present disclosure provides for augmenting a presentation document to auto-cite references to material present in non-displayed parts of the presentation document identified via natural language processing (NLP) via displaying, in a graphical user interface (GUI), a given zone of a plurality of zones included in a presentation document; identifying, in an utterance received while the given zone is displayed in the GUI, a given key concept; identifying, via a content association map associated with the presentation document that identifies key concepts recited in the presentation document and which zones of the plurality of zones the key concepts appear in, a different zone of the plurality of zones that is not currently displayed in the GUI but in which the given key concept appears; and displaying, in the GUI concurrently with display of the given zone, a visual indicator related to the different zone.

In one aspect a method is described that includes identifying a first document in a collection of documents. The first document contains a content piece and the content piece does not occur in any earlier document in the collection. The first document is associated with a first author and the first author associated with a first rank. The first rank of the first author is determined using a score of the content piece. The score is a figure of merit of the content piece.

A research application and service are provided. The research application can be a mobile application, a feature within a word processing software, or an extension of a web-browsing software, through which a user can indicate a subject of research or assignment and receive a list of research topics from which credible research sources can be searched. The user can be assigned to a group identifier that identifies a group of users that can collaborate on a research project. Research sources selected and collected by the user can be stored associated with the group identifier such that members of the group can see and use those selected sources. In some cases, users can tag a selected source with another user's identifier so that the selected source can be saved in that other user's collection.

Systems and methods of the present technology generally provide computer implemented assistance for data summary, including organizing and generating a summary of data selected form source documents. A data set of user-identified information from one or more source documents and/or custom information may be received by a system server of a data summary system. The system server assigns a unique identifier to the user-identified information and/or the custom information. The system server may then analyze and prioritize the user-identified information and any custom information, and generate a formatted summary that includes the user-identified information and the custom information. The system server may then provide the summary via the communication link to a client device.

Systems and methods are provided for analyzing documents. In one implementation, a computer implemented method is provided for analyzing a patent application and providing a visual representation. According to the method, a selection is received from a user to view claims of the patent application in a claim tree hierarchy and a computer displays the claims in the claim tree hierarchy on a display. The claim tree hierarchy visually depicts relationships between the claims. The method identifies one or more words of at least one of the claims that constitutes an element and displays, in the claim tree hierarchy, the words constituting the element in association with the claims.
