Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatus, systems, computer program products for supporting three dimensional (3D) graphics for technical documentation for an item via an interactive electronic technical manual system (IETM) configured to provide electronic and credentialed access to the technical documentation. In one embodiment, a method is provided comprising: providing a window comprising a first view pane displaying a list of parts used for a component of the item and a second view pane displaying a 3D graphic of the component; receiving selection of a part of the component displayed in the 3D graphic using a first selection mechanism; responsive to receiving the selection: causing the part in the list of parts to be displayed as highlighted on the first view pane; and causing the part in the 3D graphic to be displayed as highlighted on the second view pane using a first highlighting format.
PROVIDING ENHANCED FUNCTIONALITY IN AN INTERACTIVE ELECTRONIC TECHNICAL MANUAL
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatus, systems, computer program products for importing information of a source document for a publication of technical documentation for an item into an interactive electronic technical manual system (IETM). In one embodiment, a method is provided comprising: for each format structure found in the information: reading the format structure configured to contribute to an organizational framework of the source document; and assigning a tag to a component corresponding to the format structure, wherein the tag (1) identifies the format structure and the component and (2) allows display of the format structure on a window; receiving a request to view the information; and responsive to receiving the request: generating the window based on the tag for each format structure to display each format structure on the window along with the corresponding component to provide the organizational framework of the source document on the window.
PROVIDING ENHANCED FUNCTIONALITY IN AN INTERACTIVE ELECTRONIC TECHNICAL MANUAL
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatus, and computer program products for signing into an interactive electronic technical manual system (IETM) configured to provide electronic and credentialed access to technical documentation for items via an IETM viewer. In various embodiments, a sign-in window is provided comprising a dataset field, a unit field, and an object field. A selection of a dataset for an item is made and in response, selectable units are displayed for the unit field. Responsive to a selection of a unit, selectable objects are displayed for the object field based on the selected unit and dataset. Responsive to a selection of an object, a sign-in mechanism is made available that can be used to sign in a user to access the IETM via the IETM viewer, wherein the IETM tracks and records activities performed or content accessed by the user while signed into the IETM.
PROVIDING ENHANCED FUNCTIONALITY IN AN INTERACTIVE ELECTRONIC TECHNICAL MANUAL
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatus, systems, computer program products for displaying parts via one or more windows of an interactive electronic technical manual system (IETM) configured to provide electronic and credentialed access via an IETM viewer to technical documentation for an item. In one embodiment, a method is provided comprising: receiving selection of a topic; responsive to receiving the selection, retrieving textual information for the topic; for each part on a list of parts: searching the information to identify occurrences of the part, and configuring each occurrence as selectable; providing a topic window for display with the identified occurrences of each part as selectable; receiving a selection of a particular occurrence of a part; and responsive to receiving the selection: retrieving information on the part, generating a preview window for the part comprising the information, and providing the preview window for display via the IETM viewer.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatus, systems, computer program products for dynamically displaying media content associated with textual information for a topic found in technical documentation for an item via an interactive electronic technical manual system (IETM) configured to provide electronic and credentialed access to the technical documentation via an IETM viewer. In one embodiment, a method is provided comprising: providing a window for display via the IETM viewer comprising a first view pane comprising the textual information and a second view pane in which the first and second view panes are displayed on non-overlapping portions of the window; receiving input of a user scrolling through the textual information; and responsive to receiving the input: identifying a first occurrence of an identifier for particular media content provided in the textual information; retrieving the media content; and providing the media content for automatic display in the second view pane.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatus, systems, computer program products for displaying information for a topic found in technical documentation for an item via an interactive electronic technical manual system (IETM) configured to provide electronic and credentialed access to the technical documentation via an IETM viewer. In one embodiment, a method is provided comprising: receiving a selection of the topic; and responsive to receiving the selection: identifying tags within the information in which each tag is associated with a specific element type; generating a window to display the information by, for each tag identified within the information: configuring interactive features provided with respect to a portion of the information associated with the tag as unavailable to a user on the window; and providing a mechanism on the window for the portion of the information configured as selectable; and providing the window for display via the IETM viewer.
PROVIDING ENHANCED FUNCTIONALITY IN AN INTERACTIVE ELECTRONIC TECHNICAL MANUAL
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatus, systems, computer program products for importing a dataset comprising content for technical documentation for an item provided as a plurality of data modules adhering to S1000D standards and a data source comprising content for the technical documentation for the item provided as a plurality of files not adhering to S1000D standards into an interactive electronic technical manual system (IETM) configured to provide electronic and credentialed access to the technical documentation via an IETM viewer. In one embodiment, a method is provided comprising: converting each data module for the dataset into a file in JSON format; converting each file for the data source into a file in JSON format; storing each of the files in JSON format in the IETM, wherein the content for the technical documentation from both the dataset and the data source can be accessed interchangeably within the IETM.

In one embodiment, a method is provided comprising: providing a window comprising (1) textual information from and/or an illustration related to the data and (2) a selection mechanism; receiving a first type or a second type of selection of the mechanism; responsive to receiving the first type of selection, generating a data source window comprising a relevant section of the data source that relates to the textual information and/or the illustration; responsive to receiving the second type of selection, generating the data source window comprising the data source; and providing the data source window for display via the IETM viewer.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatus, systems, computer program products for highlighting units referenced in technical documentation for an item via an interactive electronic technical manual system (IETM) configured to provide electronic and credentialed access to the technical documentation via an IETM viewer. In one embodiment, a method is provided comprising: providing a window comprising (1) a first view pane displaying textual information referencing units and (2) a second view pane displaying media content illustrating the units; receiving a selection of a portion of the textual information displayed on the first view pane comprising a first unit; responsive to receiving the selection, causing the first unit to be displayed as highlighted in the media content; receiving selection of a second unit displayed in the media content; and responsive to receiving the selection, causing each reference to the second unit in the textual information to be displayed as highlighted.
PROVIDING ENHANCED FUNCTIONALITY IN AN INTERACTIVE ELECTRONIC TECHNICAL MANUAL
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatus, systems, computer program products for providing a table of contents (TOC) related to an information topic for an item in an interactive electronic technical manual system (IETM) configured to provide electronic and credentialed access to technical documentation for the item via an IETM viewer. In one embodiment, a method is provided comprising: providing a TOC window for display via the IETM viewer that includes an information topic field and a view pane; receiving the information topic for the item, wherein a user inputs the information topic in the field; and responsive to receiving the information topic: identifying topics found in the technical documentation, in which each topic comprises metadata having an information code matching the information topic, identifying a name for each topic, generating the TOC using the name for each topic, and providing the TOC for display via the view pane.
