An apparatus and method for performing authentication using biometric authentication processing at a portable terminal connected to a multifunction peripheral (MFP) is provided. A web application accesses the portable terminal via a web browser of the MFP and the MFP transmits a request for information about service to the portable terminal. In a case where information corresponding to the web application is included in the information about service received from the portable terminal responsive to the request, the MFP transmits an authentication request to the portable terminal according to a request from the web application, and transmits, to the web application, an authentication result received from the portable terminal responsive to the authentication request.

An information processing apparatus which cooperates with a management service for receiving a document via a network and storing the document and a blockchain service for managing information about the document on a block-by-block basis, defining an association with a previous and/or subsequent block for each block, and then managing a plurality of blocks with a plurality of nodes includes an editing unit configured to perform editing processing on a source document to generate a new document, a transmission unit configured to transmit the generated document to the management service, and a cooperation unit configured to register information indicating that the source document was edited with the blockchain service, wherein, in response to the editing unit being confirmed to be a service trusted by the blockchain service, the information indicating that the source document was edited is registered with the blockchain service.

An image forming apparatus includes a memory that stores identification information of authorized users in association with biometric information thereof, a reading device configured to read identification information from a medium, an input device through which biometric information is input, and a processor configured to, upon receipt of one of identification and biometric information, perform a first authentication by determining whether said one of identification and biometric information is stored, when said one of identification and biometric information is stored, upon receipt of the other of identification and biometric information, perform a second authentication by determining whether the other of identification and biometric information is stored in association with said one of identification and biometric information, and when the other of identification and biometric information is stored, enable a first operation that can be performed for the corresponding authorized user.

In some aspects, a method includes receiving, by a first aggregation server and from each of multiple client devices, encrypted impression data. A second aggregation server received from each of at least a portion of the multiple client devices, conversion data that includes, for each conversion recorded by the client device, encrypted conversion value data. The first aggregation server and the second aggregation server perform a multi-party computation process to decrypt the encrypted impression data and the encrypted conversion data.

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including a method for determining network measurements. In some aspects, a method includes receiving, by a first aggregation server and from each of multiple client devices, encrypted impression data. A second aggregation server receives, from each of at least a portion of the multiple client devices, encrypted conversion data. The first aggregation server and the second aggregation server perform a multi-party computation process to decrypt the encrypted impression data and the encrypted conversion data. Each portion of decrypted impression data and each portion of decrypted conversion data is sent to a respective reporting system.

A verification device is configured to supply operation power to a verification target device in order to communicate with the verification target device, and perform verification of the verification target device. The verification device includes: a detection unit configured to detect a value of a current that flows in the verification device due to the operation power being supplied to the verification target device; a determination unit configured to determine whether or not the value of the current is greater than a threshold value; and a verification unit configured to verify authenticity of the verification target device according to whether or not the value of the current is greater than the threshold value.
